He's right where he should be. Good luck on that suntan!

This makes a good story, but each report seems to grow --- from a 3/4 inch stab, to a 2 inch, and now 3 inch stabs; from two stabs to multiple; and injured seriously to nearly dead. I really have doubts now. Sorry if I lead everyone on the wrong path (but it makes for a good place to vent. He is scum)

OMG...according to that article ^^ he's lost 13lbs on his hunger strike he started in August when he was transferred there!!

Oh the horror :floorlaugh:

So much more in that article I can't help but shake my head over. Unbelievable.

MOO

Not that I'd mind him wasting away but what the article says is,

‘
He's lost 25 kg (3 stone 13lb) already. He's not the same man I married.

Well that makes more sense. Lol

Of course how would she know this exact number? They have scales in prison? Based on what the wife says he can't even get a band aid for his life threatening gashes.

Not to mention he was getting pretty hefty from all that good living and homemade meals in his previous prison. It's going to take a long time for him to die of hunger at this rate. :giggle:

I wonder if any of those 30 or so fellow inmates who supposedly signed his four page letter complaining of the conditions, that somehow got written in a prison that does not allow pens or paper, and smuggled out somehow, are any of the ones who keep stabbing him? :waitasec:

He's just where he should be. His wife and lawyer are making that quite clear, even if that is not their intention. ;)

It is, of course, a complicated call: Joran is aggressive, outspoken, famous, and foreign, so he might attract attacks from other prisoners; but he's also a manipulator, some one who has using his moves at gambling tables, pick-up bars, and soaking the mother of a murder victim. He might be plotting for a transfer to a prison with better food or with more access to his baby mama.

The above linked video says that prison officials state that he has superficial wounds to his abdomen, likely self-inflicted. Meanwhile the lawyer supposedly says he was attacked twice, first time three stabs to the upper left shoulder area at the back and the second time, a 4 inch deep wound "near the kidney".

Okay. First of all, 1 inch = 2.5 cm (centimeters) So a 2 cm. deep wound would be about 3/4" deep.

In the video, I believe the attorney for Vandersloot is speaking in Spanish. The reporter says "4 inches deep". I do not believe the South American attorney would have converted centimeters to inches. So, did the attorney say 4 centimeters and the reporter reported it as 4 inches? That is much more likely than the prisoner sustaining a 4 inch deep wound close to a kidney.

I also do not understand the lawyer's reasoning that the prisoners killing Vandersloot would cause the prison to be closed. The prison was there before he became an inmate there. Why would it not be there if he was dead?

Not that I would feel bad if the prisoners were trying to off Vandersloot, but I suspect this is Joran with some plan he has cooked up. And hey, if he wants to keep stabbing himself, so be it.

I would say this is a classic case of the lawyer's complaints "falling on deaf ears"!

I hope it gets infected and leaves him in misery for awhile. Maybe he would understand what his victims went through.

I think it's pretty much a given that he (and possibly his wife) have staged this "attack" for their own purposes. His wife has been whining to both the Daily Mail and the National Enquirer ever since he was transferred about how poorly he's being treated and of course about his "hunger strike" to protest the move.

José Luis Pérez Guadalupe, the national director of Peru’s Penitentiary Institute, told The Daily Beast that Figueroa is a compulsive liar. He said she first made the claims and then visited her incarcerated husband afterward, when she produced bloodied clothing. The implication is that she might even have assisted her husband inflicting his superficial wounds.

“His wife went for the visit and suddenly started to complain about the cuts,” Guadalupe told The Daily Beast. “It’s a self-fulfilled prophecy. Everything indicates that he has self-inflicted these cuts.”

Remember that this is only her second visit to see him in this prison. She is probably more desperate to get him back to Lima where she can continue the "love affair" than he is. :notgood:

What's in his hand in one of those pictures? Looks like a cellphone. I guess he gets to use hers or the lawyers when they visit to make his bets? :giggle:

He'd better not get out of there over this. And he'd better not get parole in 4 years. Pretty doubtful. And he'd be extradited to the US if he did wouldn't he?

Remember the story about "the boy who cried wolf?" True or not, Joran is going to have a hard time being believed by anyone (except his "wife). I don't fell sorry for him AT ALL. He brought all of this upon himself and needs to live with the repercussions of his actions in murdering one young woman, and possibly two. No sympathy here.

It's funny that the wife and lawyer started this "campaign" of trying to get him out of that prison back around September I think, before she had the baby. First she went to the Daily Mail with her pictures and stories and then the National Enquirer. And the comments on all articles were scathing. Not one person had one ounce of sympathy for him and were glad to hear of the harsh conditions he was facing. They didn't have one nice thing to say about her either. This most recent one in the Daily Mail, with the pictures of the "stabbing", closed the comments immediately. I guess she was getting tired of reading them and threatened to cut off their supply of photos and stories if they continued to let people say horrible things about her precious husband? :floorlaugh:

People picked up on this story a few days ago and the comments there are just as bad against him and his wife.

The majority has spoken. Keep him right where he is until either his sentence is up (at the end of the full 28 years) and he is extradicted to the US, or until he dies. Either would be fine with me.

Poor Joran:tantrum: Cry me a river!! lol... Maybe if he really wants transferred he would agree to tell what happened to Natalie in return? Just a suggestion..of course, how could we ever believe him? Anybody know if he has any contact at all with his mother?

You could never believe anything he said about Natalie's death. And if her body is not recoverable then there is no point trying to get him to talk because you'd have no proof he's telling the truth.

Apparently his mother had been to see him the month before. You'll notice she is not screaming from the roof tops of his poor treatment there. She has wisely decided to live the rest of her life in private it seems. And let her son face the consequences of his actions. I'd imagine she's tired of the games and manipulation.

Good news...

Joran van der Sloot 'justified' transferred to prison Peru

The transfer of Joran last year to Challapalca prison in Peru, according to a Peruvian judge lawful. The request for review of the decision, was recently rejected.

That the lawyer for the Dutchman, Máximo Altez, who submitted the request on behalf of his client, Friday announced to NU.nl.

http://www.nu.nl/buitenland/3969659/joran-van-sloot-terecht-overgeplaatst-strafgevangenis-peru.html

However the article suggests that this transfer was only to be for 6 months and then his behaviour would be reviewed at that time. By my calculations that would be sometime in February. I hope his attempt at drawing attention to the prison by stabbing himself and getting his lawyer and wife to go public about it keeps him in their for a few more years.

That's some hunger strike. Can a person survive without food for 6 months?

Aaaannndd....it looks like he's appealing that decision....

Joran fighting transfer to 'hell on earth' again

Joran van der Sloot is appealing against the decision that his transfer to the prison Challapalca Peru lawful is. That made his lawyer Máximo Altez announced today. The Dutchman, who say to their own fears for his life in the notorious prison, nicknamed 'hell on earth', wants to return to the Piedras Gordas prison in Lima.

http://www.ad.nl/ad/nl/1013/Buitenl...verplaatsing-naar-hel-op-aarde-weer-aan.dhtml

He says he wants to go back and continue his "rehabilitation" (and his "art classes", his illegal gambling and other online shenanigans, his homemade meals and conjugal visits with his wife I'm sure).

I hope Beth Holloway at least gets some satisfaction knowing how miserable he is in his current plight. And who is continuing to pay that lawyer? Is he making money with his online gambling?

I'd imagine he earned himself another 6 months for the fake shanking and drawing negative attention to the prison. :giggle:

He's been "on a hunger strike" for 7 months now. I think the longest anyone has survived one is about 75 days (David Blaine lasted 44).
