I'm thinking that the video of him going out for the coffee has some "other" incriminating evidence on it and that is why we aren't seeing it - just yet.

But that is JMO

IMO, they released so many other videos especially the most inciminating one of him going into the room with Stephany and leaving without her and changed his clothes. The coffee incident is minor compared to seeing Stephany going in and not coming out.

This was my first thought! Also the reason for the video physical when he was brought into Peru?

I think with the international attention on this case Peru is being ultra cautious in how they are treating Joran and treating evidence. I think mostly the reason for the physical and the video documentation of it is for evidence purposes... looking for evidence that she fought him off or left any of her own hairs, blood, DNA on him particularly in any areas that appear she may have struck him. Wounds look different after a few days of healing... they would be able to tell if any cuts or bruises he had occurred very recently (in the time he was on the run) or likely occurred when he was with Stephany.

However, it is also possible that part of the documentation of the exam was that there was no evidence he was mistreated by police... like bruises around the wrists from handcuffs being to tight, any signs that he was dehydrated or hadn't eaten for awhile that may indicate he was mistreated by not being given meals, etc., and also to check for any illnesses, or other medical problems that would indicate he required special treatment or medical service.

I think Peru is being extra special careful in dotting all the i's and crossing all the t's so no loophole is created accidently by them that can be used in his favor at trial.

Did she say, the night she found Stephany, she went back because she knew two days were due for rent?
Clerks are lot more on top of due rent than that.

Flores' battered body was found last week in a hotel room registered to van der Sloot. Hotel videotape clearly shows the two entering a room together May 30 at 5:16 a.m. local time. Three hours and 20 minutes later, he left the hotel by himself carrying a backpack, telling the hotel staff not to bother "his girl," police said.

I wonder if there are any of rules that Peru LE must follow regarding having an interpretor for foreigners.
It doesn't seem that Joran has been provided with that.

I can't find anything online in english that discusses criminal code and criminal investigations for Peru.

Earlier I read that the Netherland Embassy was not going to pay for JVDS' defense attn.

I wonder if the Embassy provided him with a translator (or a liaison) while he is under investigation. IMHO that wouldn't fall under the cost of his defense.

However, I don't know what services that particular Embassy provides to the Dutch citizens in Peru and I do not know comparative law.

I wonder how fluent JVDS is in Spanish? He may not request one? I don't know.

It's the translation that scews up a lot. It should read: "at 8:40 he left the hotel carrying his backpack and duffle bag, etc. etc."

In the translation, using the word "retired" sounds like he went back in his room.

Is everyone in the media reporting on the "coffee and bread" based on this article?

If he was intending to surrender, why is he denying that he murdered Stephanny?

I don't buy it. I think the attorney is spewing BS!

I think that Stefany was still alive when Joran went out for coffee. I can't see him leisurely strolling to a market, purchasing coffee and bread, after committing murder. What might have happened was she was ready to go home, checked her wallet and found the money missing. He might have tried to convince her that she lost it or it was stolen at the casino and when she demanded the money back and started to get loud he flew into a rage and killed her. I am still troubled by the videos of them entering the hostel, without communicating or even acknowledging the others presence. Stefany with head bowed walking passively behind Joran looked like a lamb going to the slaughter. I think she might have gone to his room because she was in no condition to drive and wanted to sober up. Does anyone know how far from the hostel/casino Stefany lived?

Could her demeanor be proof he gave her the date rape drug which incapacitates a person somewhat, and causes them to lose their memory? I am curious when he did this, as they said they found packages of that type of drug in her car. So when and how did he do this? Any ideas?

Note the word *possible* suicide attempt in the UPI article. Not verified and it sounds like they are being super cautious in Peru just in case. Have to be careful when you interpret articles because it's very easy to start a rumor.

That's odd because he was speaking Spanish to LE and appears to understand every word.

By law, no matter how much or how little he knows Spanish, they are required to have an interpreter present, since he is a foreigner.
