O/T - I've been seeing all of you in action for a while now, but this case just illustrates how much you guys totally ROCK! I've been getting very good at tracking down court and sentencing information, but you guys are incredible at finding every little tidbit of information there is to be had. It has been utterly fascinating to see everyone in action on this case. I just had to take the time to say how awesome it is to be able to learn from such talented people. Thanks for all you have been doing. Hopefully we will see some justice for Stephany AND Natalee. I am still holding out hope that Natalee's body can be located and returned to her family who has suffered so very much.

A thought came to me regarding the "computer, May 30th (5th anniversary) extortion/wire transfer case."

Could it be possible that Joran looked at an email, perhaps from Beth's attorney or whoever on the other end of the "sting" prior to meeting Stephany telling Joran "that no further money is coming your way until you give up what we want" and then Joran went on a hunt to find a woman to bring back to his room?

It was reported Joran was looking for women and "perhaps" Joran wanted to find someone and kill her as a way to get back at the people no longer giving him money. I am sure Joran was very well aware of the date and that is may be possible that it wasn't just a coincidence.

My mind is all over the place. :crazy:

ETA: The more I think about what I wrote it seems possible. The US Attorney didn't file for the arrest warrant for the extortion and wire fraud charges until June 3, 2010. It never made sense why it took so long to charge Joran, based on the information they provided and the info we now know.

It was stated that the US didn't have sufficient evidence to charge Joran, however we now know there really was enough evidence to charge Joran as the FBI has Joran on tape counting the $10,000.00.

Something clearly happened prior to May 30th that set Joran into a tail-spin knowing he wasn't getting anymore money.

Nancy said last night Joran was gone for 90 minutes and we know based on the timeline that wasn't true.

All of the misinformation and disinformation is wearing very thin with me.

When Joran Van der Sloot was first questioned, he denied even knowing Natalee Holloway's name.

Then he said he lied, he was with her, dropping Natalee off at her hotel around 2:00 a.m.

Then he said he lied, he left her on the beach.

He was caught by a hidden camera saying Natalee died after having sex with him, and that he then dumped her body at sea off Aruba with the help of a friend.

Then he said he lied, none of it was true.

He got paid to do an interview with Greta’s ‘On the Record’ show, saying he sold Natalee to someone he met in a club.

Then he said he lied, none of it was true.

He contacted Natalee’s mom’s attorney, saying “If you guys give me some money, I'll come clean, and give you the whole story”. He got $25k, sent them to a house that didn't even exist back then.

Then he said he lied, none of it was true.

(I'm sure I've missed a few...)

Not to forget the time he told Terror Jaap the story about Natalee falling off the balcony at a friend's house and being buried at Balboa Pond.

All of us. It reminds me of the Amanda Knox case. Other countries seem to be at liberty for more sensationalism than even the US. How can anyone in the US get a clear story if the country of origin cannot? (Although the US is pretty bad with misinformation being reported too.)

Thank goodness I wasn't hanging out here all by myself. It has bothered me from day one about the June 3rd arrest warrant and how it all happened and I wish I had seen your earlier post on June 3rd. No one was diving into the exortion part of this case and I always, always felt they were linked somehow that caused the death of Stephany and that is was not a coincidence.

What needs to be uncovered is any contact from the "sting" operation team to Joran between May 16th to May 30th.

Hopefully someone in the media will dig a lot deeper ...

She spoke with someone, presumably her manager, and he said to use a spare key to go in. When she went in, she discovered the body. Stephany was wearing only red panties and a black t-shirt, but was half covered with a piece of white clothing. The receptionist turned off the TV and lights on her way out. (8)

The young Dutchman reportedly told Peruvian investigators he sat and sipped an espresso in his hotel room while the dead body of Stephany Flores lay sprawled on the floor, according to La Republica.

"I was going to use one of the traveling bags to take the body out of the hotel," Van der Sloot told police, the Spanish-language paper reports. "I didn't because I was afraid to be confronted because I was leaving without paying."

The 22-year-old ate several biscuits and reportedly took several amphetamine pills as he considered what to do with his alleged victim.

Fearing he would be caught, the paper reports, Van der Sloot showered, got dressed - leaving his clothes from the night before on the bed - and fled at 8:45 a.m. on May 30, less than three hours after he'd arrived at the hotel with Flores.

Authorities believe Van der Sloot had possibly thought to get rid of the body in the ocean, based on maps charting currents found in his backpack when he was arrested in Chile.

Can someone explain to me how they can get such an exact TOD after two days of decomp? Or is the thought that there is something on the unseen coffee video that is giving the investigators that time of death?
My understanding of determining a TOD is that it can be given exactly...any thoughts?

The cab drivers who took him to Chile stated that he was on his laptop during the ride. Can the Pervian hackers who are examining his laptop access anything that he may have deleted during that cab ride?

If his laptop is not password protected they don't need hackers. All they would have to do is open it, turn it on and look around. If it's password protected, a hacker could easily break through that, but seeing as Joran is in custody they could always just tell him to give them the password.... it's not like he's really in any position to say no. :biggrin:

Incidentally, nothing really gets permanently deleted. If you delete something from your computer, it can still be found by any competent computer forensic analyst. Two of my brothers do this for a living. Both of them have always laughed that the only way to hide something from them is to remove the harddrive, burn it, drop it in a vat of acid, blow it up with a bomb and then sweep up the pieces and bury all the bits under a ton of radioactive waste. Harddrives that have been burned, fished out of lakes, beaten with a heavy blunt object, etc. have all coughed up an extraordinary amount of info.

Waltzing all through Joran's laptop will be a cakewalk.

It seems Joran is 'sloppy' and perhaps, Paulus knew it. Paulus knew not to tell Joran where he put the body, just "Its taken care of. You go do your own thing now." Look what Joran has done, he was caught on a video telling someone about NH's death, he keeps coming up with different stories. Now, with Stefany's murder, he didnt hide her body, he didnt discard his bloody clothes, he didnt bury his laptop somewhere in the country or throw it in sea. He's sloppy. All of that tells me someone other than Joran could've taken care of Natalee's body. But who? PVS? I remember in the video, when he was telling his 'friend' about a 'friend' coming in with a boat to take care of her body. He mentioned something like, "...but it was not my father." Again, a 'sloppy' slip up on his part?

Just a thought.
