Great danes......what are they doing on that list?
OMG!! Danes...well, yes they can be danger. They can easily knock you down and drown you in slobber!! LOL!!
Yes SusieQ, I remember the Dobies of the '70's, then it was the Rotties I've been to that site, and feel it's VERY misleading. For any results they are trying to achieve, there NEEDS to be a control group by BREED. These dogs are being compared to other dogs, of various breeds, but with no breeding history. IF, these dogs tested were tested against a dog that shows ALL the qualities of the BREED STANDARD, then it would be more credible. What they're doing is saying this is the best Delicious apple in this basket without comparing it to what the perfect Delicious apple looks, tastes like. And then compare the Delicious apple to a Granny Smith to say which is the better apple. They are taking random dogs, a small sampling of the breeds to come up with their "results" of pass or fail. If you read further, a dog that will flee fails the aggression test. Also they are comparing all breeds as a whole. Certain breeds have qualities & temperament inherent to the breed. A Dane that is up to breed standard is nothing like a Chiuahua that is up to breed standard in temperament. A GSD & Poodle cannot be compared to each other either for temperament/behavior. Breeds can't be compared to each other to say one dog is better than the other with their testing method. Certain breeds ARE more aggressive/protective than others because of what they were originally bred for. For instance, It's ridiculous to say of 25 Labs "they" tested, which are GREAT even tempered dogs, rank lower than another breed.
