Actually, except for the fact that her mother didn't kill her when she was 2 (and that's a biggie, I know), she DID have a mother just like herself..... they are both narcissists... and worse.

Cindy was very right when she said the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.... she raised a clone of herself. Little Caylee never had a chance.

That's a mighty big "except," though.

The only time I feel a smidgeon of sympathy for KC is when thinking that she had to live 21years with that harridan.

I've always thought this case will end because of: Defense Inspired Plea Agreement. Been leaning that way for a long time now. I'm OK with that as long as it means KC will be in a Florida prison for the rest of her life, where she can't murder another baby.

She didn`t have to live with her though. She could have finished HS and left for college or she could have found a job and made her own way in the world. As an adult, she could have put her baby up for adoption regardless of Cindys opinion. She could have pressed charges everytime her Mother tried to strangle her or whatever.
So not even a smidgeon of sympathy for me for anyone except Caylee and the Pleseas. The others all had voices and choices and used neither.

I agree.

We don't even know if Cindy wanted her to keep Caylee. She supposedly referred to Caylee as Casey's mistake. The story about Cindy forcing her to keep Caylee came from Casey. Casey was an adult, Cindy couldn't have forced her to keep Caylee. Judging by the jail house videos Casey was the bully in the family and everyone catered to her. Casey lies about everything. For all we know Casey got pregnant on purpose and wanted a child. I'm not saying that's what she did. My point is we can't believe anything that comes out of Casey's mouth, nor Cindy's for that matter.

Casey could have gotten a job and moved out. She had a wonderful friend and roommate in Amy but that would have required her to actually work and certainly not as an 'event planner' where she made her own hours, had a personal nanny, and had plenty of time and money to party.

As for the poll, I think this case will go to trial and Casey will be sitting on DR awaiting her execution.

IMO

Based on what we saw today I think the defense will go for a plea before trial. I think KC is finally starting to panic and realize just how deep this is and how nothing is going her way. I think she is finally starting to realize that JB and CM will not be able to get her off or make this go away. I think the devastated look on the A's today indicates that they to have finally started to face up to some cold hard facts and reality.

I was surprised at the lack of outrage today when the camera panned to the A's. I can't for a second imagine being calm as the lawyer du jour discussed post verdict mitigation and investigations into the family dynamics of my family without feeling rage. They looked scared and ashamed toady IMO.
I totally agree that KC has ruled the roost for years. In her first call home from jail, CA sounds terrified of her. "What do you mean sweetheart, if u hadn't lied to the police......' Sweetheart? I call my kids sweetheart all the time and as innocent as I may think they are, if they lied to the police investigating while my grandchild was missing and landed up in jail. I wouldn't be calling them sweetheart. A-hole maybe, sweetheart only if they broke down in tears during the call.

ITA 100%. There's some really damming forensic evidence that hasn't been released to the public IMO or something similar and the wall are caving in. I said on another thread I expect AF to quit within a week or 2 and a plea before the new year. It'll be interesting to see what does happen and if the state even accepts a plea.

It will go to trial and premeditated murder will be proven, resulting in the death penalty. Hopefully, there will be no big screwups causing an appeal, but even if that happens it will still be LWOP.

That 'sweetheart' comment and the pleading way in which she said it immediately got my attention too - it was cringe-worthy considering she was trying to get information regarding a missing child, so bizarre that she would pander to KC that way, you could immediately tell that CA was used to trying to avoid upsetting KC at all cost. In a few seconds you could hear all the contempt in KC's voice, that her Mother would dare to question her.

And from that point on all of CA's interviews were directed to Casey. No question about KC's involvement after that, she was completely innocent.
As terrified as CA may be of her evil spawn, I don't believe for a second that she'll cooperate with AF though. She's as big a narcissist as her daughter and has an image to protect.

Wow... well, I voted for straight to trial. I believe Casey murdered Caylee because she hated her mother more than she loved her daughter. And for that reason, she's enjoying the fact that her parents are under intense scrutiny and that "family secrets" could be revealed. As long as the revealing continues to prove to herself that she's the victim, it will continue.

All the thoughts, opinions, beliefs, and legal facts before my post, however, give me a lot to think about and I just want to reiterate that that is why WS'ers are the best!!

MOO :twocents:

Can the state still take this to trial even IF KC's Attorneys say that she will take a plea deal.?

  • #116
The SAO would have to agree to any plea deal, which I doubt they will do - UNLESS Casey accepts LWOP & tells all, and the state is OK with that; not sure if they would be at this point...So, yes that can still take it to trial & I hope it happens for Caylee's sake.

That's what I've been wondering is if the SAO can insist on trial.

ITA! I cannot imagine why they would accept a plea deal from this bunch. They have tried to publicly smear the SAO with the letter where KC wrote in that they were just going after her because she wouldn't accept a plea to a crime she DID NOT commit! Not because she failed to report her missing child, or because she lied repeatedly to LE, but because she wouldn't cop to a plea to a crime she DID NOT commit. And, let's face it! Any story that KC could tell about what happened to Caylee would not be believable, as she lies every time her mouth moves. So, I hope the SA refuses any plea offer and takes her to trial. I think the state of Florida has a needle with KC's name on it!

As long as there is media money in the background of this case and as long as there are opportunities for attorneys to mold a national reputation, nobody will be giving KC the strong advice and counsel that she needs to move her towards taking a plea deal. Such legal advice and guidance would include helping her sort her fiction and the truth, helping her find the courage she needs with with respect to her mother and guiding her to admit what happened in court to support the plea. By doing so, she could probably save her own life and possibly even have a term cap and parole possibility. The irony of this case is her family is so "into" the media. The irony of that is it is the media in the case that is driving KC towards her own final destruction. As long as CA is "supporting" KC by believing and spouting KC's "version" so far, then KC can't capitulate and do what is factually, morally and legally the right thing for the defense to do in this case. The longer this goes on and the more the prosecution spends and prepares for trial, the less likely it is that KC can get off the path of self destruction.

Well stated! You're right on target, and a good defense attorney would spend some time with Casey and give her all her options, guiding her to making a choice.

Having watched this case unfold from the beginning, I wonder if Cindy would allow Casey to plead guilty and confess what she did? By that I mean, would Cindy resign herself to reality and accept what Casey said, allowing Casey to be guilty, or would she try to twist it into something else? I would imagine Cindy's immediate response would be that Casey was somehow coerced into making a false confession. I can't see Cindy ever acknowledging Casey's guilt.

AzLawyer is the best resource, but I believe IIRC from the lawyer thread that the SA must agree to any plea deal...
