Pontiac: The odor, sealing off & processing the car #2

  • #381
On the chain of custody thing I don't think you have to worry because it can be proven that the body of Caylee was in the car during the early stages of decomp, not in the state she would have been after a week, 2 weeks, etc, and Casey had that car over that time and was seen in that car, and admits herself she was in that car after that time, and texts squirrels, foul odour etc...so it's good, they have her.

On the Amscot video, is there any reason the 6 video cameras did not capture Casey drive in and leave the car there? Could there be video which hasn't been released?

Starting at 3:30

I am hoping there is video of her driving around and around the Amscot looking for the best place to dump the car... Early on in the case Mark Fuhrman said the store did have video of her doing that, but I have never seen that confirmed..

Great I hope so too....surely they do. I hope the vids show her attempting to clean out the back of the car, taking items over to the dumpster, returning to trunk etc.

A "John M." from Formed Fiber Technologies shows up as a Category A witness on today's witness list update. Looks like this has something to do with the Pontiac trunk liner - possibly to testify that chloroform is not used in the manufacture of the trunk liner. Here is some information from the company's announcement in 2005 that they hired this gentleman:

Didn't he contact the SAO himself after hearing on a media report that Chloroform was used in manufacture of trunk liners to say that they did not use it in that particular vehicle....vague memory - can't find link, does anyone else remember this?

Maybe she should have used baking soda instead of fabric softener sheets:

A former real estate agent drove with the partially mummified body of a homeless woman in the passenger seat of her car for between three and 10 months, according to a report.

Now that I look at this video...and why did neither of the 6 video camera capture Casey (that we know of) because if any of the video camera's were pointed towards the dumpster we would have video.

When Mark F is panning out to the Chevron and Sam's Club we see a white car parked in the parking lot...just beyond the car is the Goldenrod entrance into the Amscot Plaza..Casey could have used that entrance and parked her car and if the the video cameras did not point in the direction of the dumpster then no video.

:waitasec: Do I make sense...I am picturing this all in my mind as well because I have driven by that intersection a few times while it was under construction in 2008.

First time I hear this..I have heard that there was no video captured by Amscot or they no longer had video.

I could have sworn that while listening to a Tony L interview (Sept 8th interview?) a few days ago, that while investigators were having him circle and sign photos of him and KC at the blockbuster, they were having him sign a photo of himself that came from Amscot video too.

I don't know...

I think it was a JC Penney video from one of the times that KC used her Mom's credit card.

With the new depositions taking place, older arguments have resurfaced in the blogging community. Those for Casey and those against Casey are left fuming and frustrated with each other, yet they have nothing new to argue about. One of the main arguments that have resurfaced is the topic of the adipocere (grave wax) and phorid flies (coffin flies). As we all know this topic is known as some of the most damaging discovery/evidence against Casey Anthony.

IIRC, which is IF I recall correctly , LOL, [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPdDRIIPc1g[/ame]

there is no such video, whatsoever, not even hopeless lost. What Mark said was that the cell phone pings indicate she was doing this. There is no video of her parking, or her vehicle being pushed into that parking lot, unfortunately.
View attachment alazzaro071608.pdf
The only account we have of her being in the parking lot with her car is from Tony who picked her up. He said she was standing outside of the car already when he arrived. Also, he went on to detail that she had a bag of groceries with her, not from a store but apparently from her parent's home, some Tyson chicken , some loose freezer pops, etc. The reason that matters is that she obviously had been at the Hopespring Drive address before calling Tony, (if that is whose fridge she swiped the food from). Of course all things found with the baby seem to have indeed be from that home.

The purchase of that huge amount of paper towels at Target, what date was that? The date of her telling Amy about the dead squirrel, what date was that? Where do we have the proof that indeed her gas gauge was working perfectly?

One thing Mark points out in his video is that there were gas stations, at least three within very short walking distances from the Amscot. She didn't have Tony help her get gas from any one of those places, I cannot recall why she told him she wanted to leave the car there rather than quickly do so. Did she say there was a mechanical problem and her dad would pick up the car?

Casey telling mom that she didn't know where the car was at is blown out of the water by Tony's sworn statements that he picked her up there. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mX-0bfuneak[/ame]
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEbEbmG9DRs[/ame]

Do we know whose, if anyone's fingerprints are on the inside of that trunk?

Hi TWA, I dont know where else to put this..I remember Dr.G saying there was a small amount of adipocere on one of Caylees leg bones.Gosh If I could only remember better. It may have been in the autopsy report. If it were on her leg, could well be in the trunk.

Please forgive me~I have to tell everyone! One of our hamsters died.Amy came to tell me.She said gee he is starting to smell,(hadnt been long since she'd been in there to feed) I said "decomp",later I saw a small wee fly in my room." I said OMG coffin flies!!" I'm getting at the fact I need a break!!:eek:

Just as Richard Grund theorized that Casey was up to something nefarious coming to Jesse's apartment to shower that morning, could Casey have purposely left things from Tony's apartment, the trash, that could be traced back to his place easily, with the paper towels with this matter on them in the car?

There was a dumpster not only at Tony's apartment, but also at Amscot she could have quickly tossed his trash into. Leaving it in the car was like leaving a connection of Caylee to those room-mates. What would mom Anthony call that, a red flag, a clue or key? On the other hand maybe she thought her every move in the parking lot was being recorded. Did they determine that those paper towels were the same brand as the ones in that huge pack she had bought at Target to take to Tony's? I know the brand would be very common, and have no evidence value, standing alone. I am just curious, as a piece to the puzzle.

Is there still going to be any remnants of the odor in the car next June? Joypath, can you help me with that? TIA

Hi TWA! More than likely bits of the carpet have been kept under seal in an airtight container and then the answer will be a resounding YES! The vehicle itself in all probability has had the entire carpet removed (especially if the FBI gang got involved, they "dig" down to metal and if the carpet were damp or wet upon receipt/or after testing it would be retained within paper bags after & during the drying process), the odor will be present but in a lesser amount. SO, short answer...yes but NOT a "tornado of odor" more like the "spritz from the Glade thingie" BUT it will be aromatic and memorable to those who have experienced it in the past.:twocents:

Do we know which lawyer is going to fill in for Linda Kenney Baden tomorrow when the defense deposes the state expert regarding the coffin flies?

Yes, that car is going to still REAK to high heaven by the time this goes to trial.
I can assure you, that it will.

As I have told a few times on this board, and a couple of others:

Some years ago, my husband bought a plain, stripped down pickup from a family whose father was a farmer, and, had passed away in it. {in the spring in Iowa}
He was not found for 3 or 4 days.

This pickup had no carpeting, upholstery, etc.
It was a farm pick up, that the guy used on his farm. If it got dirty, he took a power washer to it.

At any rate, the family opened the windows and parked the pickup behind the barn where they left it for the summer.
Fall came, and it still stunk.
They tore everything out of of it that they could, power washing vents, etc.
Nothing helped.
That truck sat for 5yrs behind that barn with the windows open year round.

When my husband bought going into the 6th year, it still smelled awfull.

It continued to smell until we finally got rid of it.

Rest Assured - That Pontiac will smell. Even if it was left out in the elements, as this pickup was that we had, it is gonna smell.
