Saul was a hard core atheist- well, as far as acknowledging Jesus and his miracles went.I had a dream last night that it was one of the African candidates that was picked. I'm an atheist though, so I don't think God would be sending me of all people a vision![]()
Actually, I would think a non-believer might be exactly who God would send a message to.I had a dream last night that it was one of the African candidates that was picked. I'm an atheist though, so I don't think God would be sending me of all people a vision
Interested to see who is picked and what he'll do with the power and influence that gives him.

Just replying to myself here, but wondering whether Cardinal Philippe Ouédraogo is taking part, given the uncertainty about his age.And in a further twist, an African cardinal may be unable to take part in the conclave because he doesn't know how old he is. He is either 79 or 80, but it seems that if he takes part but is too old to do so, it may invalidate the result.

Cardinal could be dropped from conclave for not knowing his age
It is unclear how old Cardinal Philippe Ouédraogo is - and whether he was born on January 4, 1945, or December 31 that year.www.dailymail.co.uk
I'd love to see someone go for something a bit out of the box. I can't believe we hadn't had a Francis before. But if someone was going to recycle a name, I'd love for them to dip way into the past rather than us getting yet another John. Some of the names from the third, fourth and fifth century were wild. I mean who wouldn't want another Pope Hilarius? Or Dionysius? Those sound fun.In terms of runners and riders, bookie William Hill is offering odds on each of the cardinals.
I must admit I've never fathomed fractional odds but the candidates are given in the order of the shortness of odds on them so that makes it easier to see where each of them sits in terms of likelihood. At least one other bookie is also offering odds on the name chosen by the next Pope.
It has been a dreary parade of Leos, Clements, Gregories, Johns, Pauls, Piuses and Benedicts in recent centuries. Like you, I hope that the successful chap is a bit creative with his regnal name, though it wouldn't surprise me if we get a Francis II.I'd love to see someone go for something a bit out of the box. Hilarius was one I'd spotted! How about Sixtus, if only because the next Pope Sixtus would be Pope Sixtus VI.I'd love to see someone go for something a bit out of the box.
