Weird, I thought living off the grid meant adopting a self sufficient lifestyle independent of public utilities like electricity, water, gas, or sewerage systems? Such as using solar panels, rainwater tanks, septic tanks, etc. That's what people out in the country mean when they say it. I guess in the city they must call it being green.

New article ... Filby's 20-year old son Koah has spoken out. (paraphrased)

He says that on behalf of him and his family, they never wanted it to end like this. Their hearts go out to the murdered officers' (he said "fallen" officers) family.

He said he and his family have cooperated.
(my comment - which is in contrast to the police saying that Amalia has not provided a police statement, they have to communicate with her through her lawyer)

They don't know where Dezi is. His dad is like Rambo and could survive for weeks without food, can find water.

He said his mother frantically called him in the minutes after the shootings.
Koah lived with them until about a year ago. The bus had an annex, as well.

He thinks his father is deceased, but if he is not he says that he should turn himself in.

The Australian link above. Paywalled as well. I suppose they are affiliated but only The Australian one worked with my subscription 🤷‍♀️

Edit: It's an interesting article. Seems like Dezi's son turned out well / level headed. I noticed he didn't really say anything negative about his dad aside from the obvious with the August 26th incident. Also interesting that he said there was nothing that could have indicated this would happen - which clashes with other news articles stating that Mali was desperate to get him to the doctor for mental health reasons. Also strange because he says Mali called him minutes after the incident (I assume they were in touch in general and she would have told him if there was a problem with dad before this...?).

I feel for Koah; summarising a little from the Australian article he said that he’s already sought help from a counsellor for the “loss” of his father and for what DF has done. IMO that counselling sounds like a great idea.

Just curious to know if the police would have arrived unannounced at the property or would they have made contact prior to arriving to advise they would be attending. I am presuming the two deceased officers entered first and one of those was a detective and the other younger officer a public order response officer on secondment to the area. Would I be wrong to presume a public order response officer would be pretty capable physically when it comes to making an arrest? What were the other 7 officers doing at the time and where were they in relation to the escape of the alleged perpertrator?. How can a man and women run from the scene of such devastation when 7 other officers are in the vicinity who would be armed ? I am confused.

I’m also confused by this. Also, how could the wife and 2 children (especially a toddler) also disappear without a trace ( for 12 hours or so before they reported to a police station) when there were 7 armed police officers still on the site and would have heard the commotion and likely gotten closer to the bus to check what has happened?
The death of the police officers and the subsequent escape with wife and 2 children in tow would have taken a fair while - I don’t understand how the escape (whereby DF and family weren’t seen) was even possible?
Do we have aerial shots of the property to show where the bus was located and how large the property is overall?

I haven't read the article but that's interesting to read that Koah says his Dad is like Rambo and would be capable of surviving weeks out in the wilderness but on the other hand thinks his father is deceased.

I wonder what makes him believe his father is deceased when he thinks he's capable of surviving?

He "never wanted it to end like this"... This makes me think it was all planned by Dezi. Otherwise why would Koah say that? What is the "it" in "it to end" , I wonder?

Perhaps I'm reading in to things a bit too deeply...

Experts or "experts"? And, what do the "experts" mean by "killing the movement at its source"?

For example:

- As any teacher or parent can relate, sometimes aggressively suppressing activities actually increases the appeal of that activity.

- There could be constitutional issues. I have no idea how Australian jurisprudence views speech advocating criminal acts such as not paying taxes. The Australian view of free speech could be broad. Thus, it might not be possible to ban the speech in and of itself.

- Ignore the individuals, but forbid social media / web platforms from relaying criminal acts? Could increase the charm appeal of the messages and..... drive it to the dark web where it can be harder to monitor.

The other officers would have run for cover would be my guess so they weren't the next to be killed.

Son of Dezi Freeman likens dad to Rambo but ‘10 times’ the capacity

The son of Dezi Freeman has broken his silence, issuing concerning remarks that suggest the alleged cop killer will never be found as the manhunt nears two weeks.

David Wu

September 8, 2025 - 8:30AM

“I’m not sure if you have ever seen the movie Rambo, especially the first Rambo movie. It’s like that but 10 times’ capacity.”

Koah, who has a close relationship with his parents, insisted he would never turn out like his father.
