Porepunkah shooting: Two officers dead and another wounded after shooting at High Country property, Victoria, Australia #2

  • #261
Daily Mail also understands investigators are now working with Meta in a desperate bid to gain access to Freeman's multiple social media accounts to find fresh leads as the 450-strong manhunt continues with seemingly no real progress.

It's been 2 weeks at that point, or more really, wouldn't they have accessed those before?
Your question may link to some issues that have come up regarding other cases on this forum:

- How easily can some social media exchanges be retrieved- even using very comprehensive resources such as Meta itself or say, federal law enforcement?

- Are there some social media exchanges that cannot be retrieved?

New kayak theory from Jonica Bray Daily Mail
Jonica just ended the video at a vital part. Is Dezi's kayak in the shed and do the neighbours know where he stored it?
That really is an amazing theory that Dezi simply floated off towards Myrtleford, which is certainly in the opposite direction to the way I thought he would head.
Jonica probably got access to the very enlightening video filmed by Dezi's son of the arrest and may have been the person who got the information about what the warrant was for in the first place and as it stands at the moment all it was for was a historical skinny dipping swim!
If it wasn't for Jonica I would have no idea what was going on.
BTW there's no cars left at Marg's camera now. Perhaps the police just saw Jonica's video as well and have all dashed off to Myrtleford

It's a bit hard to see, but now there's a car with it's boot up half way between the small shed and the big sheds where there's nothing.
I might have to stop looking at the Porepunkah airfield web cams because it's doing my head in. I'll leave it to you @Marg944

A new Daily Mail theory about how Dezi Freeman escaped and where he could be hiding now has prompted police to search a new area of bushland.

BBM : Oh please Daily Mail

You don't think that Vic Police have seen his Youtube channel??

It's been known for weeks & even posted on here before.

Haha, I know what you mean Lucy.D!! I wake during the night and check on the cameras!

I think if we all keep looking, we will work out what’s going on!

Well really, there isn’t much else happening that we can see! The air traffic has been non-existent for the past week. At least watching the cameras we can see that something is happening! 🎥 👀

Why Dezi Freeman wouldn't let police in - and the terrifying moment officers knew they had no choice but to break down the door

The real reason Dezi Freeman refused to let police through the door on the day they arrived to serve their warrant can now be revealed after Daily Mail was given exclusive access to the extraordinary 27-minute siege vision.

Ten officers surrounded the property near Freeman's rural home in Porepunkah, Victoria, on August 26 to execute a search warrant linked to allegations of historical sexual assault on a minor.

It is now clear the fugitive gunman knew that the item officers would find inside his home would almost certainly condemn him to years behind bars.

Freeman had already lost his firearms licence, which had been stripped from him after a string of public rants in which he hurled abuse at police and authority figures and posted chilling threats online.

But, rather than stepping back from violence, the father-of-three took his obsession underground, building his own weapon in secret.

Detectives now believe Freeman had manufactured a homemade gun, a deadly device pieced together with the help of online blueprints and black market parts.

Under Australian law the penalties are severe. In some states even downloading and possessing the plans carries a maximum sentence of 14 years in jail.

In the video, Freeman moved out of sight of officers, claiming he was reading the warrant and had 'one more page to go.'

A senior officer could then be heard raising her concerns, whispering that she was worried he may 'destroy' something.

Her fellow officer quickly agreed, claiming they had been left with 'no choice' but to get into the bus.

It is then that Detective Senior Constable Neal Thompson stepped into place with the crowbar and prised off the door window.

Within seconds, two gunshots could be heard and Detective Thompson and Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart were both shot dead at point-blank range.

The video then ends.

A third officer would later be confirmed as seriously injured, but it is unclear when that shooting took place.

Freeman took weapons from the deceased officers and fled into the rugged alpine bushland.”

No one has said exactly when these charges arose. Dezi is quoted as saying police have been harrassing him for 7 years. Wonder if this is about the same issue?

Police don't usually harrass for no reason. Must be more to this than meets the eye.

I'm confused. AMOO.

Don’t you think that perhaps SOCIT’s involvement signals that the allegations went far beyond simple nudity?

If Dezi Freeman had only gone nude swimming in a public or semi-public space, in front of a child, would that not trigger a local police response or a public indecency charge or something, but not necessarily 7 SOCIT officers with a warrant at your property?

Rocket, that is why I am confused. I'm trying to stick with facts What has been reported seems to have mostly come from The Daily Mail via a 'friend' of Dezi. Saying he only swam nude with the kids. The search warrant was to search. So did they still do the search?

It seems there was an urgency not just to serve the warrant, but to physically enter the bus - though maybe those were one and the same.

I understand warrants can be time sensitive, but why didn’t police wait for Freeman to be outside or popping into town?

Was the seeming urgency driven by the need to secure physical or digital evidence AND protect potential victim/s? Did police even possibly believe a child was at risk there and then? 🤷‍♀️

Thanks Marg. Seems the urgency to enter was to seize physical and digital evidence before anyone could tamper (any further) with it then.

The youngest child is 2 years old, then there is a 15 year old boy and a 20 year old young man.

Why did they wait until the 11th day and another search warrant to do this then?:

Police return to Freeman’s property

On Thursday morning, heavily armed officers in Bearcats and police vehicles swarmed the alleged gunman’s property in Porepunkah.

Cameras and computers were seized from the property, the Daily Mail reports.

Officers have conducted several searches of Freeman’s property and the surrounding national park that borders it.

I really doubt that the Vic Police are giving operational details to the Daily Mail ;)

Elderly Porepunkah woman left without in-home care as Freeman manhunt continues

On Monday, Ms Robinson received her first, and so far only, support visit since the shooting, when two nurses helped her shower — with one stationed at the front door to watch for any approaching danger.

Victoria Police told the ABC it was in regular communication with Alpine Health to assess services it provided in the Porepunkah area and surrounds.

"To date, Alpine Health has not been advised to restrict the in-community services currently provided," a police spokesperson said.

Alpine Health responded that it had no further comment at this time.

Can't say I'd be to happy going to isolated / remote properties with an active double murderer shooter on the run.

Dezi us caused so much harm to a community.

Doubt there'll be any prosecution of Dezi considering he's most likely dead imo, or will die in a shoot out with the police on the small chance he's still alive.

Though I'm wondering if once this is all over if the police will charge his family and any of his associates.
