If he did take police weapons, I was wondering if he took anything else from them, like communicatons devices,
I believe he took a police radio also

Would the police be able to disable a lost / stolen radio??

When it comes to the sex abuse warrant/investigation, I believe “historic” sex crimes are technically incidents prior to 1991.

That’s when major changes to legislation happened in Victoria. Suspects must be charged with offences as they were written at the time of the alleged incident.

If so, DF is 56 now, so the warrant may relate to allegations from before and up to him being 22 years old.

One would think that if they know he has a police radio that the police would switch to a band/frequency/alternative that he won't be able to access.

imo

AFP, ASIO assisting Victoria Police in Porepunkah shooting
By Courtney Gould

Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke has confirmed the federal authorities are now involved in the case.

"What I can say is both the Australian Federal Police and ASIO have been assigned to this and are assisting the Victorian Police with their investigations," he told ABC News Breakfast earlier.

"I should also say, just as the minister for the Australian Federal Police, the extent to which our hearts go out, and our condolences over the loss of life.

"These police officers put themselves in harm's way to keep us safe, and it's just horrific when you see the people who dedicate their lives to safety finding themselves in that sort of danger."

thoughts are with these police officers conducting the search whom are in mourning for their colleagues.

Knowing he is armed and that he has already killed 2 officers makes this literally an impossible search in that bush land - hopefully he is killed before he kills anybody else (i cant see him being caught without gunfire exchanges so hopefully the police will fire first)

By Grant McArthur

Helicopters roaring overhead constantly scan the densely covered hills behind the winery, while special operations group and dog squad officers have made camp near vines where a some worker is busy tending vines in the rain.

In nearby Bright the town is busy with a mix of holidaymakers and locals, despite the rain.
There are a handful of stores selling skiing, camping and survival goods, but nobody working in them remembers serving Freeman, or

The manhunt for accused gunman Dezi Freeman is continuing as police admit he 'knows the area' well.

“I’ve never seen the bloke,” one store worker said. “I don’t think we have sovereigns coming in here - but they wouldn’t tell us if they were.”

Legal sources told Guardian Australia that the senior officer who was killed, a 59-year-old detective, was particularly well-regarded in the region for his kindness and fairness.

“He was just a lovely bloke, it’s a tragedy,” one lawyer said.

“He was so close to retiring, he’d booked tickets for an overseas holiday and everything. Awful stuff.”

The same lawyer had regularly seen Freeman around the Wangaratta courts, though never represented him or dealt with him. Freeman often represented himself in court.

“He was certainly a frequent flyer, that’s for sure,” the lawyer said.
