Wait do they stop searching overnight? That gives him 8 hours + every night to move without detection?

I would think they would advance at night rather than stopping - mostly because the elite squads have thermal imaging and he is probably only set up with normal home made rifles without the technology, but I don't know, maybe he does have some military type equipment? A lot of these prepper type sovcitz do.

IMO

To be fair. The reason this thread exists in the first place is because of the gun mans political views
I see this a bit differently. IMO this thread exist because a possible child s*X offender decided to shot his way out. His political views are not what brought the police to his door

Agree but his political views are what made him decide to execute them

I don't think he's gone bush.

I feel like there would be a lot of people who would protect or at least shelter him.

A surprisingly large percentage of people have similar view points to him. Especially in country areas. If you think they are fringe, wake up - they're really not.

If you don't believe me on that, look at the Facebook comment section on any major news outlet's posts regarding Covid vaccines.

You could point out the fact that he allegedly killed two police officers, and was being charged with sex offences against a child, but conspiracy mindsets don't stop at vaccines. To them he could be someone targeted by the system to silence dissent.

MOO

I have been seeing them come out in force on Youtube videos about this case. There are tonnes of them and they organise through their online paranoid 'signal chat groups'.

My point is, it is related. That you have missed the connection is hardly my fault.
I thought we were discussing murder. I don't know that the response of police to these killings is in any way of any dispute., How many ways can police respond? I mean......These two murders were , if they were nothing else, were political murders. These men were murdered because of the job they did.

Mr Freemans entire adventure is one of politics. it's why he is holed up somewhere in his tracksuit pants, sopping wet, waiting for a sign.

You really can't talk about a police ambush without talking about his political / ideological views which form the reason he has taken this action. IMO

Another aspect of Desmond's idiocy is,, this Sunday, the 'alernatives' . that is , the miscellaneous groupings of anti-islamists, anti - soap , anti - govt, anti-women, anti law, plus assorted stupid Nazi hoons, along with the anti -vaxers, the anti meat and 3 veg folks had all planned a march thru the Capitol cities, on the 31st August, to counteract the current huge civic successes of the marches for Palestine..... these mobs are calling themselves, March for Australia, and Desmond ,singlehandedly , has very nearly scuppered their moral stance, they are tarred with being cop killers now, not a good look , not in Australia, they look like total idiots now, and also, it will give the police a fair idea of who you are for future reference....

What the organisers thought might be big is now going to be a sort of embarrassing scrabble, limping along....

Its an ill wind that blows no body any good.....

A reporter asked the deputy commissioner about that during the latest presser. Because of the possible diversion of police resources from the search to the march.

The deputy commissioner replied that he would say to those people to not attend any march and instead go and enjoy their weekend.

(paraphrased from the presser)

Drsleuth was onto it. I suspect a few re-runs of Dan Andrews' COVID press conferences should have an effect of some sort 😅

Even a public health official talking about the benefits of covid vaccines should fish him out! IMO

His political views, if such they can be called, it is more a Dez perpetually feeling hard done by and not being allowed to speed around Porepunkah with impunity, Dez has transmogrified all this ill thought out crankiness into political action, thats what made him arm himself, and wait to ambush the police . It didn't happen in a vacuum.

Forgive me if I've missed something but what part of what we know about Freeman's political views have anything to do with the march? I thought the march was to protest mass immigration?

Also, Freeman is Maori.

His political views are what led to him not only arming himself with unregistered weaponry, since he had lost his own gun licence due to his inability to adhere to the simple laws everyone else sticks to , but he chose to fire that weapon at three police men allocated to serve a summons on him, fire with deadly intent. That is what we know about his political views.

This ridiculous march to take place 31st Aug, is to underline the idea that laws are for others not these people marching for a whole lot of stuff, immigration being a factor but not the only factor, see the organisation's printout in post above., re ABC

Sovereign citizens don’t see any inconsistency in their beliefs- if he is Maori - likely an immigrant, that wouldn’t conflict with his white nationalist worldview, because their ideology isn’t based on reason. It’s fundamentally delusional (and has strong roots in incel misogonystic thinking primarily, but I digress...).

As for how his political/ideological views have anything to do with the march...Sovereign citizen ideology didn’t begin as harmless skepticism, it emerged in the U.S. among white supremacist and Christian Identity groups who rejected federal authority outright and pushed racial hierarchies as doctrine. In Australia, those anti-government, extremist beliefs found new life during Covid - melding conspiracy-fueled anti‑vaccine and anti‑lockdown sentiment with denial of legal authority. That created fertile ground for organised sovereign citizen ideas to take hold.

That context is critical in understanding the March for Australia. At first, the march’s website even openly promoted “remigration”, a far-right, white nationalist concept calling for mass expulsion of non-European peoples, before the phrase was quietly removed, showing a clear alignment with extremist ideology even if later softened.

I think the idea to release the bodycam footage of the wieambilla police shootings was a terrible decision and could well encourage similar type of events such as this one. I would be interested in your thoughts on this as I cannot see one benefit in doing so. Footage

I absolutely agree with your entire statement.

Unfortunately that weather also can make it very difficult for search efforts…especially from above in the air.
