Superintendent Brett Kahan said it was unclear whether Freeman was receiving help from one or multiple people to evade police. He appealed to those who know more to come forward.

“I’ll just extend that final offer to those that are harbouring or know of those that are harbouring Dezi Freeman to take up that offer, [by] whichever means you like, whether it be [calling] triple zero or otherwise, and we will formulate [an] appropriate surrender plan,” he said.

I find it hard to get my head around people helping him. Regardless of your feelings of LE or all the Sov Cit stuff, this is a man the murdered two people. I just find it crazy
Armed and dangerous no less… possibly someone he’s friends with is harbouring him imo

If the people helping him are anything like him, then I don't think they'd be limited by morality.
If anything, they may rethink their position based on the risk of jail time, but even that may not be enough.

Police will not stop until Freeman is found: Kahan

Superintendent Kahan says police have searched hundreds of acres of land of “very difficult” terrain with resources poured into Porepunkah and surrounding areas in the search for Freeman.

Kahan said police have received more than 450 separate pieces of information from the public that has assisted in their manhunt, and called for more people to reach out to police.

“There’s certain areas in and around that dense forest land which we know has previously been populated by the fugitive. If you know of any of those locations, please let the police know,” he said.

Freeman fled into dense bushland following the alleged ambush and has not been sighted since.

Kahan vowed that police will not stop their search efforts until Freeman is found, and said the force owed it to the two officers – Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson, 59, and Senior Constable Vadim de Waart, 35 – who were allegedly killed by Freeman.

“We owe it to Vadim, and we owe it to Neal. And we owe it to not only the Victoria Police community – but the community at large,” he said.

“Because what we shouldn’t forget, is we’re looking for a person who killed two people.”

What if....

Desi shoots police, takes off with his family a short distance, jumps into a pre-planned car after a quick hike and takes off, leaving his family to walk back and eventually get into contact with police later that night. The initial media reports stated his family were possibly being held hostage.
If that's the case, he could be anywhere.

Manhunt continues as police prepare to farewell fallen officers

By Hannah Hammoud

As Victoria Police mourns the loss of Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson and Senior Constable Vadim De Waart, Superintendent Brett Kahan acknowledged the ongoing strain on police resources.

“The resource commitment to this goes far beyond the search for Dezi Freeman,” he said.

“It’s not lost on me that we now have to also resource the funerals of two former colleagues on Monday and Friday, that alone is a significant resource drains whilst we continue te search for Dezi Freeman.”

The officers will be farewelled with full police honours at the Victorian Police Academy in Glen Waverley.

De Waart’s funeral will be held at 11am on Friday and Thompson’s at 11am next Monday.

Both services will be closed to the public and media.

That makes a lot of sense. Very cowardly of him to leave his family behind though

IMO ….

Curious press conference …. Are the Police giving the person/s harbouring DF a last chance warning to remove themselves from him, so that they do not become collateral damage if a gunfight breaks out when they storm the place to capture DF???

Just wondering ??? There is always an ulterior motive when Police issue such pressers … IMO

From the Police update just now - a reporter asked some thing about if Mali Freeman was being helpful, or something along those lines, and Superintendent Brett Kahan’s answered this twice, and was that “I might say that speaking and co-operating are 2 different things!”
No surprise to me. I've said this all along.

The police know who was holding that sign of Filby, and they are looking for the person.

Police are "actively" searching for a man who was seen at an anti-immigration rally in Adelaide holding a sign depicting alleged killer and wanted man Dezi Freeman.

SA Police Acting Commissioner Linda Williams strongly condemned the placard, describing it as "offensive", "disgraceful" and "outrageous".

She said police believed they had identified the man in question and were still attempting to locate him. They are now investigating whether the placard breached the law.

"Families would no doubt have seen this image and would be likely distraught by what they have seen."

Asked whether there was anything illegal about his action, Acting Commissioner Williams said police were "certainly investigating it from that perspective".

"We think that it might fit within the category of offensive behaviour at its very least," she said.

That's interesting. What about the hundreds of comments on news articles and videos I have seen of people supporting him?

Obviously. I'm just saying, firstly - even though it is offensive I didn't know that it was illegal in Australia, and secondly - they're looking for one guy in a crowd, how about look at the whole crowd in the Daily Mail's comment section

I'd like to see how they would go walking around Porepunkah , Bright or Ovens etc with their stupid signs.

Police set up public information bus in BrightVictoria

Victoria Police has set up an information caravan in Bright as part of the ongoing search for Desmond Freeman (Filby). The bus is outside the church in Ireland Street and will be manned by police during the day, every day.

BAUBM

I think this is a strategic move by Police ….. and clever …. Making a statement that the church, nor its parishioners, are no longer a “safe harbour” …. in this day and age….

Also police appealing to parishioners to do the right thing and tell the truth…. Giving them easy access to the police while on the pretence of visiting the church ….

JMO ….

Aren't there people doing time in the US right now because of aiding/abetting/being in company with a murderer? Something like that? Not that I want to live there, but a lot of people in Australia seem to forget how good we have it here.

"A sign lauding accused cop killer Dezi Freeman was brandished at yesterday's anti-immigration protest in Adelaide, sparking concern in the federal government.
The sign, held up by an unknown protester, showed an image of Freeman with the caption "FREE MAN" underneath, with the words separated by a stylised Southern Cross."

The irony being, of course, that the fugitive on the poster is married to an immigrant from the Philippines.

These snowflakes often seem to have a difficult time with basic logic skills. Imo.

I wanna see the playing card version of the fugitive limping along with his bad back & wearing his dirty, wet track suit, tbh.

ah welll, the good doctor and my smaartyarsed self dialled Mali's number from the get go, she is in it up to her stupid neck, she's been a terrific support to him, probably right up until he pulled that trigger. On the advice of one of her lady lawyers, and I bet it was Francesca , I've seen her at work, in Albury court, she looks vague and trippy but she is a micro manager, Mali has put out a publicity blurb to burn in to a prospective jurors eyes for her future appearance on an aiding and abetting charge.

She no more backs the police than she backs Dan Andrews .

The crime that is committed is this, the police have asked for this man to be handed on, and if one knows where he is and says nothing, one is disobeying a police directive. Also, while he is a police murderer he is also a putative child assaulter, these people have no social boundaries at all, everything belongs to them for them to use as they see fit, women, children, animals, land, police, law, it;s all bumkin to them because a lot of it is 'inconvenient'....... I just loathe them.
