Maybe. One trouble might be with the barrel(s).

Shotguns use high grade steel which some companies still mark with traditional "proof stampings" to show that it has been tested for certain pressures.

I don't know if 3 d printed barrels would work. But.... I could see underground makers using a hybrid shot gun: 3 d printed breech and trigger mechanism. Then add, steel barrels- probably sans traditional proof stampings.
My understanding is that plastic guns are really only good for one shot. They can't handle the heat or pressure. Happy to be corrected; this is not my area.

Does the militant sovereign citizen movement in Australia strong enough to have members willing to shelter a double murderer?

The US movement is, but such a murderer would likely need to have pre existing ties to a sovereign citizen network and also have committed the murders for what others in the movement would view as a "justifiable" reason.

If the Australian sovereign movement has deep enough roots, he may think he can hide out. If not, I am thinking he is going to use his home made weapons on himself. I don't think he has the courage to go down in a blaze of "glory".
even the military in AU is not exactly militant, it keeps to itself and regards itself as more a watching brief than a combat outfit. More money is spent on shared Int. and combined exercises than is spent on actual warfare. AU military geeks tend to go for the diplomacy until ....... how ever , AU is still a member of the UN, of ASEAN of ANZAC of AUKUS, of this and that associated treaty obligation.

Militant has a different meaning here.

These groups are not exactly working in concert with each other, they have disparate views that cannot be consolidated, generally speaking. They like to think they have a handle on militant, though. However. most are a practical people and would see no value in assisting Dez.. Dez has shot his own bolt, and nothing can save him from the maw of justice, even a Sov Cit would see that plainly.

Individually, he could have one or two deeply committed followers, but when it's all boiled down to gravy, Dez has nothing to offer a follower, neither glory, nor respect, he never did have either and has even less now. But as a movement protecting Dez it would be all flags waving in social media, and all doors locked at home and no-going-outies..

The only thing going for and against a Dezzy corporal is that ephemeral million dollar reward.. hard to claim it anonymously though.. VICPOL would insist on your pic and address being published.

I don't think he has resilience, either. He probably has tripped over his own shoelaces and gone over a cliff off Mt Buffalo.

Police continue search for alleged cop killer Dezi Freeman after $1 million reward announced

Victoria Police will continue their search for Desmond Freeman today after the alleged cop killer went missing almost a fortnight ago. (9News)
Police have urged locals to leave the search to the experts, as Freeman is believed to be heavily armed.
Meanwhile New South Wales Police is on alert for potential copycat attacks, with intelligence suggesting more than 370 sovereign citizens could be living in the state.

Many of those identified are said to be "harmless" and "nonviolent" but the recent killings of the two Victoria officers has many members of the force concerned

A couple of bits paraphrased from your linked article ...

One of the owners of the property, Rebecca Swift, is right into the sovereign citizen movement.
It is unknown whether or not the other owner, her husband Andrew, is. But he is a local historian, and very familiar with the area’s history, mining, gold rush and bushland.
The Swifts haven't been publicly seen since this tragedy unfolded.

Locals speak highly of the Swifts, call them highly intelligent - they are known for their organic farming.
Rebecca Swift helped organise anti-govt rallies, and fielded volunteers for an anti-vax group. Very vocal on social media.

Filby moved onto their farm after falling out with previous landlords due to his violent temper and disturbing obsession with guns.

While Ms Swift and Mr Swift may well be into the Sov CIt hoo haa, , there is that socially repugnant element of Dez's current situation, the police were not on his tail for Sov CIt stuff but for a sexual complaint against a child..

Dez's hobbies have a strange combination, not usually found in your average Sov Cit as far as I can tell........ It would be a hard sell to convince people that Child SA is a good way to protest Govt. regulations.

This may explain a bit why people like the Swifts, and the people who run the Chestnut farm where Dez sometimes put in a few hours yakka, ( not hard yakka, this is Dez were are talking about) same mindset, but gone straight into radio silence.. (Where Dez fell out due to his violent temper ) no one wants to be tarred with the taint of sexual abuse, in the criminal sense, especially if it's a child.. it is indefensible.

In business, people cannot afford to be associated with this kind of deviancy,, and these are small town associates, probably all members of the same Chamber of Commerce at their local council.

Dezi Freeman reportedly meant to be at doctor’s appointment day of cop shooting

Dezi Freeman was reportedly meant to attend a key appointment the day he allegedly gunned down two cops, one that his wife had been begging him to book in.

Now, a source close to the Freeman family has revealed his wife Mali’s growing concerns about her husband’s mental state in the lead up to the deadly shooting.”

I noticed the award was stated to be "up to a million dollars". What kind of leeway do they have because of that "up to" in there? Is it just left all to their own discretion, or would there be "terms and conditions" written up somewhere attached to the offer that would spell out how much for what info etc.?
