Possible lead in Susan Powell case, 8-18-11

  • #1,101
IIRC, the boys not showing up at daycare caused the daycare worker to call a friend or family member. When they were unsuccessful in reaching Josh or Susan, they called police, believing that they may have succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning. Police broke a window to get in the house and found everyone gone. Someone finally got ahold of Josh, who of course started spinning his overnight camping trip story, and he said he last saw Susan when she went to bed the night before.

Thank you. NOW I remember that. For the life of me I couldn't remember it. I think I stayed in the yard too long picking up limbs. All that bending over must have caused the blood to rush out of my head! LOL

she was missed at work and the kids were missed at daycare.
She was missed at work at the Stockbroker's office. They called & no one answered. JP said he was confused, he thought Monday was Sunday . Obviously HE didn't have a job!!!!!:waitasec:

Actually, he did have a job and he was a no call/no show. He was fired shortly thereafter.

Yeah, JeannieC -- ITA. One of my earliest questions was Did he really & truly take them camping? Or did he just put the sleeping boys in the back seat, Susan and a shovel (or a hatchet) in the trunk, and go to a hiding place & dig a hole, or put her body parts (since that seems to be the popular M.O. these days) in garbage bags and visit all of the dumpsters in town? Or, as you say, did the guys have a little body-bonfire?

Freak.

I hate to say it but if he did the bonfire Susan will never be found.

Even if it were true, that Josh would take the boys out in sub-freezing weather in the dead of night camping, what makes this turn into a lie, is he said Susan knew about it. He said she was 'getting ready for bed.'

Well, he may be dumb enough to forget what day of the week it was, but Susan had had to walk with the boys to church and back that morning, so SUSAN would have remembered it was SUNDAY and NOT let Josh go.

Sorry, Josh, just doesn't work for me.

See Josh, that's how it works. Too much information leaves you vulnerable to telling MORE lies than you had to, which opens the door to MORE lies, and being exposed as the :liar: you are. :waitasec:

PS....Oh, don't worry Josh, Scott Peterson was tripped up the same way. You're in,.................good company or LIKE company? You get the point! ;) I think it's kinda' like tripping over your own tongue. The more you trip, the clumsier you become! :rocker:

There would still be bones, though, right? I think it takes a really hot fired-up kiln to turn them to ashes. I don't think a regular fire could do that, but who knows. Gosh, wouldn't that be so creepy if he did that and he and boys sat around it? Oy, can't even think evil like that. He must have done something with her that next day, though, since he has those raw and red hands that he kept rubbing while he was crying on that guy's couch.

I would have thought there would be bones too until I read about Gary Hilton burning some of his victims and all they found were a hand full of bones that left absolutely no DNA. I believe it depends on how how long the fire is going.

When a person is cremated there are bones left. They use a HOT fire but not for an extended period of time, I guess.

EXACTLY. I hope there are a lot of mothers on the jury. Let JP try and convince them that he woke up his wife at midnight, in December,in Utah,
and told her that he was taking her 2 yr old and a 4 yr old 'camping' with an oncoming blizzard, on Sunday night, just so they could have 'smores'---everyone knows he would be picking his teeth up off the floor. No mother would allow him to take a 2 yr old out at midnight in freezing winter temperatures 'just for fun.' That is not believable, in the least.

I think he found out she was planning to leave him or she tried to leave.

I think he found out she was planning to leave him or she tried to leave.

That has been my theory for a long time. HOWEVER, some have posted here with an alternate scenario that I am leaning towards now. Initially I thought that she told him she wanted to separate and he lashed out and then he had to
clean up the evidence so he made up that silly camping story.

But after reading about his 'dinner' that he took all day to prepare, and the fact that she felt tired right after eating, so she slept while he took the kids on a night time sledding adventure,[ ahem] ----now I think he planned the event that night. I think he poisoned or drugged her, loaded her alive into the car, and went on his way. I think the mystery carpet stain under the couch was where she threw up the special dinner that night.

I think he drove to a camp ground and hid her body. Then when he lamely gave out too much info when he talked to the press, he rented a car and moved her somewhere else, perhaps even meeting up with his father for the handoff.

ETA: I agree though that she was planning to leave him and take the kids, and he knew it, so he was being proactive that night.

That makes the most sense. IIRC though wasn't there someone else having dinner with them that night, a friend? If so, was the friend a last minute thing? I wouldn't think Josh would want any witness' to Susan being drugged in case something went wrong?

That makes a lot of sense. Either she threw up or dropped her drink when the poison hit her.

Renting a car has never made sense to me but if she was already deceased and he had to move her body it would.

I just hope LE gets enough for a conviction with or without her body but I would like her to be found for a proper burial. He children and family deserve that.

Drugging her makes perfect sense. If I had to guess how a spineless, wimp like Josh would go about it...that would be my #1 theory. Or he had a paid hitman do the job for him. Maybe even both, and Josh scrambled with the kids until the job was done. Maybe that is what Josh and daddy were planning over the phone with so many calls prior to her disappearance. SP has plenty of convict connections in his line of work if he needed to find a hitman. Who knows who's car alarm was going off in the garage that night.
Just trying to think of other potential scenarios. No matter what, Josh is responsible for her murder. He either did it or hired it out with the help of daddy.

Josh is too cheap to hire a hitman. Plus, I'll bet he fancies himself the smartest guy in the room, able to pull off the perfect crime. Yep, that's the kind of raw intellect you can't buy with two fake college degrees...

He and Daddy are partners in crime.

All MOO, of course.

If his videos are released he might be in the unemployment line.
