Possible Victim: Fire Island Jane Doe, UP9098, found Davis Park Apr 1996 & Ocean Parkway Apr 2011 - Karen Vergata

So, I'm curious about Mindi Chambers. She went missing from Tempe, AZ where she was living with her paternal grandparents. Apparently, her dad served prison time in NY for an unrelated assault and attempted rape. When she was 7, and he got out of prison, he took her back into his care. She went missing in 1982 but no one reported her missing until 1995 because she had a history of running away. 3 days before she went missing she told LE that her father had been molesting her for 5 years. CPS placed her in the custody of her stepmother who was in the process of a divorce from the father.

I don't know...the father died in 1994 in a car accident. Could it still be here?

Am I correct in that there are currently no rule-outs in namus for her?

I don't see the resemblance with FI Jane Doe, but I do see it for Jane Doe #6.

I just received word back from DoeNetwork concerning Robin

Hello Stephen,

Received an email from NAMUS indicating that the match had previously been ruled out:

Thank you Mary, this proposed match was previously received and ruled out.

I really wish NAMUS would list their rule outs, but they don't

Best,
Mary Bell

Wow... I thought Robin Ann Vaudriel was such a great match to Fire Island Jane Doe. I hope Namus receives some much needed help entering this information that she was excluded.

Received a reply regarding Mary Kopacz.

Both the missing and unidentified have complete DNA testing. You can see that by going to the DNA tab on each case.

It is rare that the all DNA exclusions be specifically listed in the list of exclusion (which are in public view) on each UP case. The DNA exclusions would easily run into the thousands and not usually specifically noted. If there had been a cold hit in CODIS between these two cases, the investigating agencies would have received notification. We won’t know that unless they choose to specifically add a particular exclusion to NamUs.

I do actually appreciate the efforts made by the volunteer community to try and help resolve these cases.

Fingerprint and dental information is currently not available on the UP – so we have no other way to issue an exclusion.

I know~~~I am too...LOL

Sounds to me by the reply that both FI Jane Doe and Mary both have DNA in CODIS. If there was a hit in CODIS, Suffolk County would have been notified. I know, maybe they were and did nothing with it. Namus wouldn't know she was an exclusion unless Suffolk County CHOOSE to add her to the rule-outs on NamUs. Because FI Jane Doe doesn't have fingerprints or dental available, there is no way for NamUs to add her as an exclusion.

You would think that if there was a hit in CODIS, NamUs would know about it, wouldn't they? Seems odd that only the submitting agency would be notified.

So if both have completed testing they would have noticed a match. So I guess we have to check for that when looking at potentials from now on.

I'm really confused and hoping someone has the answer. If both the UP and the MP have DNA entered, does that automatically mean they're been cross checked and excluded? Or would comparison require additional steps?

From the sounds of things if it says DNA testing complete for both then they have both been entered in CODIS and a match would be generated if there was one through CODIS,
