Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are due to attend the Trooping the Colour on Saturday when they will finally appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

They broke with royal tradition by marrying away from London and not having celebrations at the Palace.

This is going to be a huge moment to see them all on the Buckingham Palace balcony with the airforce jets flying above.

Did they really "break with royal tradition" by "marrying away from London" i.e. at Windsor, or were they offered no other option?

According to the Royal Rulz: If Megan doesn't produce a male heir, the title of Duke of Sussex will die out, as the title is not invested in female heirs.

As far as I'm concerned, this is an archaic system based upon a patriarchal system of power.

Not really. Marrying at Westminster Abbey in London is generally reserved for weddings for the heir to the throne. This is where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge got married they would have not been able to marry at Windsor due to the size of the event.

Prince Charles’s second wedding which took place in Windsor Guild Hall was different given as it was his second wedding and public feeling towards Camilla was slightly frosty in 2005.

I think this is likely to be changed by the Queen when The Duchess of Sussex is pregnant.

So Harry & Meghan didn't "break with tradition", as was reported. They married at the chapel at Windsor Castle because Harry has been pushed down the line of succession due to Kate's fruitful womb.

Many other Royals have married at Windsor Castle though. Edward and Sophie, Peter and Autumn Phillips and others. Seems to be when it is not a state occasion and more for family and friends.

I've wondered the same thing about what Prince William & Kate do with all those rooms where they reside - a 20 room "apartment" at Kensington Palace spanning 4 storeys.

Nine or ten of the bedrooms are for staff. They claim to have only a nanny and a housekeeper. LOL

I suspect Kates' fruitful womb will produce one more child, then Harry is 7th in line. If they continue to fly together as a family, it may all be for nought. Time to go on at least two different flights if its that important that William must be king.

The staff entitled to accommodation have their own small apartments at Kensington Palace. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge do not live with the help.

the Daily Mail has been reporting that for weeks. maybe they have that wrong but I believe the head nanny stays on the premises 24/7. she has other relief nannies of course.

With three small children, you never know who is going to need attending to during the night. Im sure the infant is being nursed by his mother but the staff will attend to the older two.

Live in staff is a reality for the Cambridges at least until the kiddies are older.

Even The Sun states there are nine staff bedrooms on the fourth floor of Apartment 1A, so that the Cambridges have people at hand around the clock. I have read that the housekeeper lives in a small apartment just a jog away from Apt. 1A

It is highly likely the nanny has a bedroom at the apartment and at least one for the protection officer on duty but I doubt less critical staff like housekeeping do. Due to security concerns it is highly unlikely the media has an accurate overview of the layout of Kensington Palace. They may know who lives where etc but not the layout of private apartments.

It doesn't really matter. Prince Harry is so far down the line it doesn't matter if any future daughter(s) isn't a Duchess or Princess. Royalty is archaic, it's supposed to be. Princess Ann and her children are doing fine in life, no major titles for them to worry about.

Only the children of the monarch or heir should be titled Prince or Princess (IMO). The Queen's sister Margaret didn't title her kids as such, and of the Queens four only Andrew chose / pushed to have to Beatrice & Eugenie named as Princesses. Those two could be the last two, as I doubt Harry will want to do it.

(I haven't written that very well, need another cuppa)

I bet that that was down to their pushy mother who claimed to be more highly born than the Royal Family. You know, that one who didn't have a pot to piss in.

So by my reckoning, of the ones that actually use the title Prince or Princess, we have 9 Princes and 6 Princesses.

Sarah, bit of a wildcard!! She still lives with Prince Andrew and rumour has it they might remarry once Phil dies (he hates her).
