His style might be different, but I felt the message was 100% in keeping with the Church of England. I was curious what denomination he was from, but I knew I'd find out here! I was also scared for that candle! lol

Did Meghan get baptised into CofE before the wedding? Is she Episcopalian?

She was raised Episcopalian and was baptised and confirmed into the CofE a few months ago.

I agree with you about some of the reactions to the Episcopalian preacher, I thought it was rude. I must admit I also found his style of preaching very alien, being raised Catholic. The average Catholic priest has a much more low key manner of preaching homilies, but even so if I'd been in the church and especially knowing that it was being televised, I would have hid my surprise and listened respectfully.

Meghan's reception dress is absolutely gorgeous! I can see that type of dress being a new trend now.

I think Bishop Curry was just out of their comfort zone.

I am thrilled MM has been embraced by the royal family. It's wonderful that the British (non-royal) seem to love her.

I hate to be so sappy but... I do hope that the little light of these two shines bigger and bolder as they live/work together. We all need more light and harmony. (and a tweak of humor!)

PS... What project is Tom Hardy working on that's called for his hairless-ness?

Well I did have a dress sort of like that back in the 70s. White with brown polka dots! I loved that dress, wonder what happened to it...

The headband type fascination Beatrice wore at the wedding reminds me of the one she wore on the red carpet in that purple dress about a week ago. I will try and post pictures tomorrow from the lap top. I sure wish I could do that with the iPad! Sorry.

Does anyone else think the head/hat/fasinayore/headband forms are similar?

The fascinator looked like something you would by for a £1 in a cheap pharmacy and her dress was awful too. Eugiene looked better but looked like a 1960s air hostess all that was missing was a trolley for her to push.

I read Tom Hardy is playing Al Capone.

The Queen was the only one at mass this morning everyone else must be hungover.

I've just seen where Charles walks down the steps from the church, escorting Camilla on one arm and Doria on the other. I think he did very well today with touches like that and how he escorted Meghan down the second part of the aisle.

I need to get a full length picture of the York girls dresses!

I would have preferred to have seen Meghan in the gold-embroidered bodice dress that I would have designed for her, I wasn't really enamoured with the dress she chose, but I was expecting her to choose something glamorous in its simplicity, and that's what she did and though I found the dress boring she looked so beautiful and elegant in it. I think some brides get outshone by their dress sometimes, but her choice of dress was more of a complement to her innate elegance, and the simplicity of it allowed her wonderful happy smile and those gorgeous eyes to really be the focus every time she was shown on camera, and I think that's perfect.

Beatrice and Eugiene

“Meghan Markle will follow royal tradition by having her bridal bouquet placed on the tomb of an unknown warrior at Westminster Abbey.

The idea was started by the Queen Mother in 1923 after she married the Duke of York, who went on to become King George VI.

The Queen Mother is said to have left the flowers at Westminster Abbey in tribute to her brother Fergus, who was killed in 1915 during World War One.

I don't think so. They and their father don't receive the income or allowance the other Royals receive. They have to work at jobs in the private sector for most of their income, IIRC. I don't feel comfortable criticizing their fashion choices.

Along those lines, Harry doesn't have a large regular income either. He has money he inherited from his mom and other royal perks, but he will have to watch his spending as William and Kate do. I admire them for not being showy big spenders on clothing, etc. They try to consider public opinion in their choices. Harry and Meghan will probably have to start doing the same. Meghan should watch her tendency to splurge on high priced designer couture. Maybe she can find some way to generate outside income, as Fergie has.

Maybe her acting training helped but I’ve never seen a more confident, relaxed bride...in any setting, much less this sort of hoopla.

I think her years of yoga practice really helped, too. She was centered and just let the light be all around and within. Made me think, I'll have whatever she's having!

She was prepared, too. She mapped it beautifully. I grew up in the episcopal church and there nothing like a high service. This is Harry's world. He knows it by heart. I imagine she was familiar by her education in a catholic school. I noticed she followed along during the hymns and was very focused and centered during the vows.

I watched the service again last night and thought Reverend Curry delivered a powerful message. This especially resonates in our troubled times here in the USA. The gospel choir must have loved singing in St George's Chapel because the acoustics are out of this world. It must have been incredible to be there to listen to the music.

Meghan mirrored Harry's confidence, too. Perhaps this is why this is so romantic. He found his match in a mature woman who will share his world. Elegance is an understated thing not an over the top thing. Meghan displayed this in their courtship. And she is her Mom's daughter who displayed it in the crazy run up to the wedding.

For a moment in time it felt like all was good in the world. And it still feels that way today.

Good info! Thank you!

Here is some additional info. While their incomes seem large, it has to cover the expense of their household staff, etc. which can be expensive.

The above article notes that the income for Harry & Wills clothing and travel expenses come from an allowance from Prince Charles income from the Duchy of Cornwall. So Charles controls those expenditures.

ETA: As I recall, Harry did not make Meghan sign a prenup.

Prince Andrew is a multi-millionaire who owns a £13 million pound ski chalet as one of his homes. Beatrice and Eugiene do not work so they can pay the rent.

Meghan will not be allowed to do anything to generate outside income. Fergie wasn't either until her divorce.

Dare I ask? What is the financial source for "security" for the royal family and functions such as these? It must be astronomical.

One of my favorite portraits of Princess Diana by Nelson Shanks. I think he really captured a delicate and thoughtful likeness of her. The skirt remained draped on a manaquin and she sat for Shanks for something like fifty sittings. And they had fun.

Meghan has striking and delicate features. A dream for a master portrait artist.
