I have a question for the mods. It seems as though HLN is going to cover the Trayvon Martin case LIVE when it starts. Are we going to be allowed to discuss this case when the trial begins?

Yes, we've been discussing that behind the scenes. Stay posted! :kimsterwink:

When I make a post on a fast moving thread (or come back hours later) is there a way to see any/all responses to that particular post without wading through every post on a lot of pages?
Thank you! :)

Not at this time. We are moving toward an upgrade to our system and after that, we might be able to add a modification that will allow this function.

Thank you for the answer Kimster! That would be a great function to add when you upgrade!

Hello! I haven't been on Websleuths much since the Casey Anthony Trial and recently only lurked at times for the Jodi Arias trial. I realized that my email I have is my old address and I have since switched, but it's a Gmail address. As you can see, I've obviously been away TOO long because I wasn't sure where to post this to get some help? :banghead: Could someone pleeease help me? :) It would be much much appreciated! :please:

Sometimes, when traffic goes WAY up because of happenings in cases or popular trials, we are asked to not refresh because it slows down the site, which doesn't allow some folks to be able to log in. What I don't understand is how to read the forum if I can't refresh the page? Isn't that no different than going to a different page (like -- go to pg 2 and then back to 1)? How do people read new posts? And if people can't read new posts, what is the point of looking at the forum or posting to it in the first place? Is there something I'm not understanding?

I hear what you are saying and I completely understand. The idea is based on changing your settings to 100, and then you can read more posts at one time. Then we aren't changing pages as often - we hope. But if one is waiting to read a post about breaking news, everyone is going to refresh often anyway.

The good news is that management is working behind the scenes to repair this problem and it will be a mute point. This was just a suggestion for the situation today. As soon as improvements have been made, everyone will know.

Contact any administrator privately when you need help with your personal settings or information. :tyou:

Ah, changing the page settings to 100 would keep the need for refreshings down. I get it! :tyou:

But not "Don't refresh at all," right? There might need to be a fuller explanation down in the Arias forum because some folks are as confused as I was. I bet the critical mass will be reached again on Wednesday when court reconvenes!

At some point, you have to refresh. :kimsterwink:

Keeping it to a minimum is the key.

I don't know if I can post down here about why the Dylan Redwine threads are put on hold but I would really like to know. Anybody know why?

The case was not producing anything constructive in the search for Dylan Redwine. It had become an issue between his parents. If there is any new news in the case, please alert any post in the Dylan Redwine forum so the moderators can review and see if it's time to reopen the forum.

Hiya - this isn't a complaint, promise - just a suggestion.

I just had a post removed, and went into a bit of a panic thinking I'd been offensive or broken TOS in some undetectable way, until it was kindly explained that the post was flagged because that particular topic apparently isn't permitted to be discussed at all on WS. Sorry! I just had no idea it wasn't permitted -- mainly as there was an existing thread on the topic with current posts...

So, I am wondering if there is or could be a prominent list somewhere of topics that are totally disallowed for discussion, so people can see what is and isn't kosher and prevent such misunderstandings in future?

That's not a bad idea! I'll see if we can't compile something and find a place to list them.

Did this ^^^ come about yet? I am curious as heck to why in the last couple of weeks I have to sleuth to find anything on Websleuths? No Paula Deen even though you can't turn on a news site without seeing more information coming out.I could have sworn it was in the "celebrity" thread but nope, still just the Kardashians (?), I understand the K's are celebrities in certain circles but hardly newsworthy, nothing they are doing seems to affect the community at large. I checked the bullying section but no Paula Deen or her brother there so what is going on with that one? And Dylan Redwine? He's been found apparently but it's all shrouded in secrecy here, why? Sorry for all the questions but I have a laptop that overheats quickly and it always burns out before I can even find any real news on this site anymore. Very frustrating signing on here anymore.

There are now Dylan redwine threads up and running since the new developments today

Hi nothingnew :-)

Generally when you can't find a thread or post its because it has been removed. Paul Deen's thread was pulled for Mod review.

Dylan's case is here Dylan Redwine - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

No secrecy, it was closed down prior to this because no new information was coming out. Since Dylan has been found it was reopened earlier today as soon as we got this new info.

If you have trouble locating a case you can pm any Mod, we are happy to help you find it if its available.

I'm sorry you are frustrated. I'm not sure when or if Paula Deen's thread will be back out. You may be able to pm one of the Mods that takes care of the celebrity forum and they can let you know.

How do you get a thread moved to the next category?

Can this case be moved to Currently Waiting Trial? It is in the Pre-Trial phase.
Thank You

Hi Jewels!

The quickest way to get it moved to the proper area is to alert on it and just note what it is that you need done and the Mods in that area can take care of it. I'll get this one moved now. Thank you!

I clicked on the alert triangle and it said to not use it except for certain things so I didn't use it for moving the thread. I didn't want to get in trouble. Thanks for the help!

I have a question...
If I move a case I was following (subscribed thread) to a folder, will I still be notified if there is a new post? Or does it have to stay in the "main" subscribed thread area?
For instance: a case I followed has been resolved, trial is over, person is in prison. If I move that thread to a folder would I be notified if someone posts an update that the person is up for parole? Thank you!
