My son has high functioning autism (Aspergers syndrome) and the difference between that and a psychopath like Karr is night and day. My son suffered no abuse as a child (such as Karr's mother trying to burn him alive, and raising him as a girl), which would have warped him and his identity - he seems to have been born with this "seeing the world a bit differently" and needing routine.

Karr has been talked about by several psychologists already and no one has mentioned autism. Karr is highly able to function and get what he wants in life (even though he appears like a loser, he was getting job after job through his internet resumes, which required effort); he was able to seduce two young girls to marry him which shows how he can manipulate people - autistic disorder makes you unable to manipulate anyone becasue everything to an autistic person is cut and dried, straightforward the way it seems, and they have trouble deliberately making friends because they hate inane small talk. They also could not have a secret life and successfully hide it from anyone, as Karr did for years.

Karr has no trouble making friends, reading people and chatting with strangers (according to Sandrock about their meeting in a Paris bookstore). Adults with autistic spectrum disorder do not as a rule make small talk with strangers to try to get something out of them; they will wait for others to talk to them first and their world view just involves having a happy life while fulfilling responsibilities, without disappointing anyone. Karr does not seem to have any empathy toward others. Psychologists analyzing what we know of Karr so far have mentioned Narcissism, Pedophilia and Gender confusion. Personally I think he is a true sociopath with all of those other disorders as well. Certainly no autistic spectrum disorder.

i just heard on tv that the 118,000 request did NOT match jr bonus. it 'wasn't even close' any comments?

i have a question.....i know i've heard or read something about two 911 calls...one was made, but was disconnected at some point before the 'real' 911 call, that morning....anyone know anything about this??...just curious what the time was, for the call that was disconnected....

The JR bonus was a little more than $118,000. I don't have a link but I just saw it recently. Not the exact amount. But really I never thought it was any kind of clue. I thought it was thrown in randomly just like the movie references like "grow a brain" and "if you talk to a stray dog she dies". All that is just fantasy stuff...by a person having a good time writing a long ransom note which was probably meant to confuse people. I mean we are hearing that Karr was not a complete dummy - he had blind spots due to his sicknesses yet he was clever enough to plant tons of red herrings to make it look like the parents did it (if he indeed is the one). It's almost like it was fun for him to leave all those false clues. If he did it.

You can read about the 911 calls here - actually three -

http://denver.rockymountainnews.com/extra/ramsey/0110jcall.htm

"A 911 call made from the home of JonBenet Ramsey two nights before her murder most likely was placed just before her family's annual Christmas party. The distress call on Dec. 23, a Monday, came in to the Boulder police station at 6:48 p.m., reports show. But communication ended before the dispatcher could talk to the caller." ...

"Two 911 calls came from the Ramsey home that day, Dec. 26. Patricia Ramsey called 911 at 5:52 a.m., records show. A second 911 call was made from the Ramsey home that morning."

Hi JB

I saw Candace DeLong say she had from two sources that
the $118,000 "wasn't even close" to his bonus amount and was just one of the many mis-reportings and rumors which have surrounded this case for 10 years.

Hi - I have not heard about this before, my husband just told me that he heard somewhere that a teddy bear that did not belong to JonBenet was left at the house and later found and noticed not to be one of hers. It was an older bear, and in a photo found of Karr when he was 12 years old, there was the teddy bear in this photo. Has anyone else heard of this??

Candace got her information from one of the Ramsey Team (not LE) so a hundred bucks and change may not be considered even close to them.

It has been reported that the Teddy Bear was given to Jon Benet at a pagent before her death.

Hi tybee

She had some interesting thoughts on Karr. That he's a "stone cold pedophile of pre- pubescent females"

Also says that if he's not hte killer it's "something he thinks about" and IF he was seeking a sex change was he could have thought if he became a girl maybe he would no longer desire girls sexually"

...that made everyone start suspecting John & Patsy to begin with in early 1997? I was a young mom back then with two very small children and though I was interested in the case, I was not able to follow it or retain information as well as I would have liked.

Was it their behavior, the fact that they lawyered up, etc?

I've never blamed them for lawyering up. Good idea whether they are as innocent as fresh snow, or guilty as sin.

For me it was partly their behavior; Patsy watching the detectives through splayed fingers, PR and JR staying away from each other all day on the 26th, which is unusual for a married couple in time of crisis, John forgetting to tell the cops he'd discovered an unlatched window in the basement - he told them in April '97. John finding the body then turning on the light, according to Fleet White. There's more, but I'll move on.

There's a dead body and a ransom note both in the house. Unlikely it started out as a kidnapping and turned to murder. Possible, but not probable, imo. It makes more sense to me that the ransom note was written after JBR's death. Patsy was not eliminated as the writer by the handwriting experts.

The intruder -if there was one- didn't need to leave through the basement window, even if he needed to come in that way - unless he had to leave in a hurry or because he couldn't risk going back upstairs because he heard Patsy getting up to make coffee. Or perhaps he thought JBR's scream, if she did scream, woke everyone up and he couldn't go back up. In any case, if he left through the window in the basement, why waste time putting the grate back in place?

An intruder who knew the amount of JR's bonus would have to work for his company or be familiar with the family. Possible I'd have to say, and not improbable. However, why ask for 118,000 and tip off police that you work for John's company, or know the family?

There's more, but that's good for a start.

Chrishope, you're exactly right--Patsy would have us believe that an intruder would be stupid enough to ask for the exact amt of john's bonus check for the ransom--But no intruder would be that dumb,he would be leading police right to him as a fellow employee of johns--that's one reason why the ransom note is a fake

Does anyone know how many pagents JonBenet competed in? Is there a list anywhere? :waitasec:

I think somewhere on this thread someone asked what would happen if he were to plead guilty if charged. An atty on Anderson Cooper just said that he most likely will not plead guilty. She is confident that he would follow the advice of counsel and that advice would be to please NG. She spoke very highly of him, this was the atty that was with him today.

If this has been posted..nevermind

Ok...this kid won an extensive list of pageant titles, some statewide, a couple possibly nationwide...

From http://www.answers.com/topic/jonben-t-ramsey:

"...Ramsey held a number of child beauty contest titles, including (in no specific order): Little Miss Charlevoix Michigan, Colorado State All-Star Kids Cover Girl, America's Royal Miss, National Tiny Miss Beauty, Little Miss Merry Christmas, Little Miss Colorado, and Little Miss Sunburst..."

Appears she was very visible in child pageants across the state of Colorado, Michigan, and the whole nation, maybe. A pedophile like JMK's dream, IMO....
From another thread

I messed up the link..brb..sorry that is the link in her post.

He can be both, you know. A sociopath and someone with Asperger's. Just because someone has autism does not prevent them from taking a criminal bent. The descriptions by his childhood friend of someone who was friendly but "not there" and stopping what he was saying and doing to apparently zone out is especially troubling. I think he had the Asperger's first and the psychosis kind of grew around it over the years, largely because it was undiagnosed and left untreated.

I have a nephew with Aspergers. His inability to figure out social interactions has pretty much lead him to develop antisocial personality problems. I don't really have much hope for him once he graduates high school and gets out in the world. The best case scenario is that he'll live in the basement and play dungeons and dragons and troll message boards for the rest of his life. I'm not kidding. Every other scenario leads to early death or incarceration.

I can easily see that Karr's documented problems with social interaction stemming from a undiagnosed condition, especially in light of his mother sufering from a brain chemical-imbalance form of insanity. Karr's obsessive behavior dates back to high school and no doubt beyond. I suspect the Delaorean/used cars business was one of these obsessive "phases".

A psychiatrist on CTTV today commented on how strange that Karr, unlike other pedophiles, never seemed to "learn" from his antisocial activities. He'd get a job teaching and be fired in two weeks due to inappropriate behavior. Then he'd get anotehr job and lose it in two weeks. Most, if not all, predatory pedophiles learn to adjust/mask their behaviors in order to further perpetuate it. Although pedophiles might believe what they do is "right", they normally understand what is and isn't considered normal within society as a whole and know when they're calling attention to themselves.

After leaving high school in Hamilton, he seems to have made no real adult friends to speak of. I suspect anyone who was around him for any length of time soon discovered he was too weird to be around, like the reporter who met him in Paris, and kept their distance as best they could.
