Statement from Kyron Horman's parents, 7/5
http://www.kgw.com/news/Kyrons-parents-answer-questions-from-public-97831659.html

Q: Can you say something along what you said earlier about this not being two separate stories, but all about trying to find Kyron?

A: Kyron Horman is one story. As stated on an earlier interview, EVERYTHING we do is to expedite the investigation as best we can and bring him home quickly and safely.

In a "Dateline NBC" interview that aired Monday, Kaine Horman acknowledged he had an affair with Terri when Desiree was eight months pregnant with Kyron. He also told The Oregonian that Terri Horman made "completely false" statements to friends when their relationship began, saying he hired her to take care of Kyron.

Counter to this, Kaine's sister-in-law says:
"Someone had to watch the baby," said Amanda Howards, the former wife of Kaine’s brother Kristian. "Terri was her friend. She moved in just to help with the baby." The Blended Family

Reporter asks about increasing the reward: "Is there any thought of increasing the reward? I mean, $50,000 is a lot. But would you like to see some of the fundraising money going toward that? Do you think that will raise someone's awareness?"

Desiree responds: "I think if we get to that point, PERHAPS. I think $50,000 is a lot of money. I would pray and hope that.....of course, you know, ....I would hope someone would come forward regardless if money is involved. However, I think sometimes other people need a motivator to come forward and I think $50,000 is adequate........"

Zimmerman said everyone went into their classroom for the science fair and broke into parent-led groups of four or five. She wasn’t sure what group Kyron was in. but she said the last time she saw him was at 8:15, when the groups began going from class to class.

"He walked by the hallway and I'm like, 'Hi, Kyron,' and he's like, 'Hi. I'm going to go see this cool one. It's electric.' I'm like, 'Alright, bye.' And that's the last time I saw him," TP said. "He never did make it back to class."

TK: He said when he saw Kyron in the gym he didn’t see Terri Horman with him. He and his family have turned over pictures they took at the science fair to investigators, but they’ve been asked not to disclose the timeframe in which he saw Kyron.

Hi gliving, where is the link to the article that says groups were formed at 8:15? Thanks.

Desiree and Kaine on the talent show

Desiree: There's been some rumor that he was supposed to be in a talent show. I don't really know if that's credible.

Kaine: Yeah. We, we were, we didn't have any information that led us to believe that initially, but (shakes head negatively) we've heard some things since then, so we're not certain.

Kaine on Kyron's enthusiasm about school and all things related:

@ 10:10 Kaine (smiling with apparent delight at warm memories and thoughts of his son several times throughout):

He's very enthusiastic about school. He was really excited about the science fair.

He loves, he loves going to Skyline, just going there, doing things with his friends, the different projects, the field trips, the exercises in class, just is always enthusiastic about going to school, riding the bus - one of his favorite things to do of the day.

So yeah, tons of enthusiasm, just really excited about all the things related to school and the projects and everything.

LEO (Shults): Why is the family not helping out in the search?

(snip)

And you have to remember, the night of the incident, why they were, why they were out there working. You have to remember, when Kyron did not come off the bus that night, they immediately went into the mode that any one of us would do if we were looking for a missing child.

They searched their neighbors' houses. They went to the schools. (Less?) They started calling neighbors, friends, anybody they could think of, meanwhile calling the police to come and assist.

So they were doing everything that we need, and by the time we were there getting organized, they were exhausted. And it's important to remember that because once they become exhausted, their resources have really ran out. And they need to get more skills to help, like the search and rescue, canine, police, helicopters, all of that, because they're pretty much have done all they could do to locate their boy right away.

June 25 KGW Full Raw Interview -5:05

Kaine: We've had some concerns...

Desiree: Yeah.

Kaine: ...along with his teacher around listening to instructions from adults while at school.

So we've been working with him to try to understand that we need to work with the faculty there, the parents there, the volunteers there to make sure that when they give him instructions he's following those.

He normally does a very good job at doing that. Just occasionally we get a little bit of that behavior so we've really reinforced with him that if you're at school and you're working with a parent or a teacher, you need to follow their instructions.

So in that particular environment he would be expected to follow the instructions of an adult...

Desiree: Yeah.

Kaine: ...at school. Outside of school he's very well versed in the stranger danger and everything else, but in that one particular setting that's the type of behavior that's been reinforced through all of us.

Desiree: Yeah.

Note: Desiree nods affirmatively throughout this whole thing.

Reporter: Can you tell us if these are staged photos or if (unintelligible)?

DA: No further comment. Thank you.

Reporter: And on this photo, are you asking for anyone who was parked in this, this parking lot to call about (a bit unintelligible - every make of their car?) that was parked there?

Gates: Yes, that's what he was asking.

Detective: What I want to identify is the parents, it's more likely going to be parents who were attending the science fair. Sometimes in an investigation you look through it with a different lens than you do the very first day that it occurs. When you go back and you rethink of all the events and the information you have, you see bits and pieces of the investigation that you need clarification on. This is simply one of these events that we're looking for clarification on. The parents, the guests, the staff only in the area that I have depict (sic) in the photograph. We'd like them to call the tip line.

What hasn’t been made public is the fact that, a month after filing for divorce, Young sought a restraining order against Kaine Horman, Kyron’s dad.

At the time, she had a 7-year-old son from a previous marriage. In court documents, Young said she feared Kaine Horman would “remove our children from their residence.” It’s unclear whether the couple was living together at the time. Washington County Circuit Judge Donald Letourneau granted Young’s request, forbidding either her or Kaine Horman from taking the children without the other’s consent.

Yes, that whole article was changed by the reporter, so I'm guessing he originally had some things wrong.

From this June 18 Report:

Gates repeatedly said he could not comment on suspects or persons of interest in the case. In response to a question about the possible danger to the community, he said: "I can't say for certainty that it wasn't stranger-to-stranger, I can't. But I also can tell you that the need for the public to be alarmed is very low."

Reporter: A friend of Terri's says she was asked to take a second polygraph test. Is that true?

Kaine: Umm, I....uh, based on where we're at in the case, I'm not gonna... I'm not gonna comment on that. I know she was speaking on behalf of Terri. Uh, and that's actually something that we're trying to make sure is clear. Uh, in our communications outward is when... uh, we're gonna be.... our family, is the only group of individuals that will be speaking on our behalf. We fully expect that other people will come out with things to say that potentially defend friends or some of our family members. We expect that, but we want to make it pretty clear that we're the ones speaking on our behalf. No one else is speaking on our behalf.

(snipped)

The family raised an alarm about Spicher last week when they issued a press release saying she wasn’t cooperating with investigators.

But they said they had no idea a grand jury was in play.

“That was kind of a surprise to us,” Young said, “that Dede was called in.
