True, but she doesn't go on and on and on about it. She mentions it once, in the begining, then goes right back to giving short, brief, direct answers to the questions she's being asked.

Furthermore, her husband being in the tree trimming business is pertinent information here. Note that after she says, "My husband works for a tree maintenance company", she goes on to say, "...the back yard! We've got big mulch piles and wood piles and firewood and stuff". That's pretty relevant info to give when you're talking about a fire. It's not like it's completely off the wall info like, " I think my daughter might be entering puberty" and "she's had a stomache virus" and " I think the kidnappers took her leg with them". KWIM?

True but if you're really in a hurry to get the firefighters there you could just say that there are mulch piles in danger of catching fire and leave the explanations how the mulch piles got to be there for later.

Agreed. But the point I was really trying to make is that, compared to AB's long winded, irrelevant, rambling 911 call, complete with puberty mention and nervous giggles, EB's 911 call looks to be far more what you would expect to find during a genuine 911 call.

Yes, she mentions her husband works for a tree trimming company, but if what's on fire is mulch, if you're concerned it will spread to big woodpiles, it makes at least SOME sense to mention that in a 911 fire call.

Wouldn't it make more sense to nix the ransom note? Rather, the fire department is called, and while they're putting out the fire, AB or EB goes to check on Zahra. She isn't there, and AB or EB runs out and say "my baby is gone, my baby is gone".

like others, I just can't figure out why the ransom note came into play, or why. After looking at EB's writing, it's very original and would be difficult to disguise.

Agree. And that's part of the reason I'm starting to think it's possible that the ransom note was initially part of an aborted plan .

So, does AB decide on his own that something has to be done? He waits until Elisa is asleep, grabs the ransom note she had already written, sticks it on the windsheild of the truck, and sets the fire?

I don't know. But it's at least possible, I think. Also, a REALLY good way to set EB up to take the fall for everything, don't you think?

She was hesitant and unsure in her delivery of her address from what I just listened to again. Her giving the address was punctuated with pauses and uh ums.

However, as I said earlier, I can't fault her there. It is a new address in a life that seems littered with moves.

So, looking again at AB's " We woke up. My dog woke me up" statement...is it possible he's losing sight of the script because the story has now changed? Does he now have to correct the "We woke up" line to the "My dog woke ME up" line, because he did, in fact, wake EB up to tell her the yard was on fire?

I don't know. It's a possibility, I think.

just going on the anectodal documentation of who is the big manipulator in the relationship, I am thinking if one Baker is setting up another, its E and not AB but that is just based off what I know of both parties so far. (her - lots and none of it flattering, him - next to nothing and all of it puzzling)

I think they are both manipulators, TL. I think she works harder at the game of manipulating than he does, gets way more joy out of it then he does. But if something falls into his lap, if he can pull off the poor, oblivious, dope routine, or lay all this at EB's feet somehow, then I think he's the type to work it to his advantage. That's manipulation too, imo.

The whole ransom note fire thing. *shake head* I hope the reasoning behind it comes out at trial, cause we've been round and round and round it here and I don't feel any closer to knowing the answers.

IMO one reason that the AB call lasted longer is that the 911 operator smelled a rat. She keeps him talking about his excuses but she doesn't ask about Zahra's vital statistics or even her name so that they could get the alert out asap.
