Linda Joy Traitz and Therese Serignese are joining Tamara Green's defamation lawsuit against entertainer Bill Cosby, her attorney tells PEOPLE exclusively.

"We are very confident that we will prevail in this proceeding and we will pursue claims against the attorneys who filed this action," Cosby's attorney, Martin Singer, told PEOPLE following Green's filing.

Well he will have his day in court.

"Actress Phylicia Rashad, who played the elegant, intelligent Claire Huxtable on The Cosby Show, spoke with Showbizz 411 during a special luncheon in honor of the film Selma on Tuesday and told a reporter that she thinks the controversy is a well-coordinated smear campaign and nothing more."

Amen, Phylicia, Amen. I see things the exact same way.

Well, not only did I lose all respect for BC, I now hold the same for Phylicia Rashad. "Forget these women", Mrs. Rashad? Did I read that right? Sounds like someone is upset over the loss of her syndication royalties.

How about we forget you, Rashad? Your character was often emotionally abusive. Perhaps we were witness to art imitating life.

From your link:

"Forget these women," she said. "What you're seeing is the destruction of a legacy. And I think it's orchestrated. I don't know why or who's doing it, but it's the legacy. And it's a legacy that is so important to the culture ... Someone is determined to keep Bill Cosby off TV, and it's worked. All his contracts have been canceled."

I have a few thoughts about who and why, but I will keep them to myself so I don't get an extended WS "vacation".

Amen to that. It feels downright odd and un-American for some truths to be censored in a so-called free society.

Oh Phylicia, really? Yes, people are trying to keep Bill Cosby off tv. I laugh and laugh at that idea.

Hmm, let me guess what this "plot" is? The evil liberal media has orchestrated it because Bill Cosby speaks the "truth" of the sad state of affairs of black people today- "pull your pants up, stop naming your kids Shaniqua, etc." And of course those crazy liberals don't want people hearing that stuff. Etc. etc. etc. (insert rhetoric here). So they have orchestrated a PLOT to keep him and his views silenced!

And yes, the above is massive sarcasm. ;)

And no, I really don't think that is what Phylicia Rashad was trying to say (though I guess it could be). Just thought I would head this off at the pass and hope this thread doesn't go there, as this is the celebrity thread, not the political one.

I don't think I can possibly roll my eyes any harder than this. Smear campaign?? GMAB.

I would love love LOVE for someone to lay out the anatomy of the Bill Cosby Smear Campaign. How the H--- does someone orchestrate such a smear campaign, and get such full cooperation from all the players? Please, people, there has to be some critical thinking involved here, imo, its not enough to say "it's some kind of conspiracy" if you can't describe how such a conspiracy could happen. What is the motive? Who is behind it? How does someone convince multiple women to lie? Have they all been bribed to lie? Have they all been blackmailed? When was this so-called smear campaign plotted? in 2014? Did it begin with Andrea Constand's lawsuit in 2006? Or with miscellaneous media appearances or articles over the years, ranging from the National Enquirer to the Today Show? Was this a slow-speed smear campaign that only now has gained momentum?

If you think it through, it makes no sense to call it a smear campaign or a conspiracy.

imo

Phylicia Rashad Defends Bill Cosby, Slams Accusers: "Forget These Women"

The Cosby Show matriarch Phylicia Rashad has broken her silence on the mounting sexual assault allegations against Bill Cosby.

"I don't want to become part of the public debate," Rashad told Showbiz 411when questioned at a lunch for Selma about the more than 20 women who have accused Cosby, her onscreen husband of over a decade, of sexual assault and misconduct.

However, Rashad did say she loves Cosby and never saw the behavior alleged by the women who say they were drugged, raped or sexually harassed by the comedian.

"Forget these women," Rashad said "What you're seeing the destruction of legacy. And I think it's orchestrated. I don't know why or who's doing it, but it's the legacy. And it's a legacy that is so important to the culture."

What is the legacy she's talking about? He's a comedian. He had a popular sitcom. And why would anyone wish to destroy whatever it is?

Bill Cosby accused of sexual assault by three new women

The women, who came forward at a press conference organized by attorney Gloria Allred, claim the comic drugged them before the alleged attacks. The accounts come as the TV legend’s former ‘Cosby Show’ co-star Phylicia Rashad defended her former on-screen husband, calling the legion of accusers’ claims bogus.

Appearing Wednesday at a press conference with lawyer Gloria Allred, two said the fallen funnyman spiked their drinks and accosted them in Las Vegas in the early 1980s, while the third - a former assistant to Cosby's late agent at William Morris - claimed Cosby drugged her at the Bel Air hotel.

From above link:

"Rashad said Wednesday night that another comment attributed to her — “Forget these women” — was a misquote."
