That doesn't mean he didn't attend MS's funeral or memorial service.
The family is Jewish. That means they have 24 hours to bury their dead. Since MS's time of death was pretty much predicted because he was an organ donor, it would be fairly easy (please realize I'm using the word "easy" only in terms of organization, not in terms of emotional ease) to plan the funeral's time fairly quickly. That means that DS's twin sister and AS could have attended the funeral and left the same day MS was taken off life support.
It also means that the family could have held a memorial service on a different day. That memorial service was private (as stated in the press) so we don't know who attended. I think the family was vague about both services (if there were, in fact, two services which is what I suspect, but not meant to be taken as fact) so as to keep their privacy during this difficult time.
I am well versed on Jewish tradition. I would imagine the immediate family would be in attendance while sitting Shiva...though there is no literal commandment for an Uncle to do so...it is customary out of respect for your sibling. That would put him there for seven days past the death or memorial. Do you know that AS was in Coronado to support his brother through this tradition?
