That's what I've read, too. Those conditions in freezing temps followed by the long, hot drought could produce partial mummification.I don't think it was laying out in the open. From what I understand, she was buried in a shallow grave and wrapped in plastic garbage bag. But recent storms and 9 inches of rain may have unearthed it enough to be noticed by a worker.
