Remains found in Big Spring #2 - Strong Speculation this may be Hailey

I don't think it was laying out in the open. From what I understand, she was buried in a shallow grave and wrapped in plastic garbage bag. But recent storms and 9 inches of rain may have unearthed it enough to be noticed by a worker.

That's what I've read, too. Those conditions in freezing temps followed by the long, hot drought could produce partial mummification.

For some reason, I can't get the quote function to work, but in answer to Knox's question, I do think BD is involved. At very least, she had guilty knowledge of the crime after the fact, but I have always thought it more likely that this is something she allowed to happen, maybe even encouraged (ala Karla Homolka). I realize that is a harsh and disturbing theory. Even though it is faint praise, I think of the two, SA and BD, BD is clearly the brains of the outfit. All MOO and my speculation.

What do you guys make of the idea that this could be a second dumpsite? Body mummified at first site then was put out there by the airport? Itd be next to impossible for SA to pull that off.

My daughter & Hailey are the same age, with my daughter now being 14.....looking at her hands & fingers when she changes the channel on the radio in the car, I still see child-like qualities in her hands. Shorter fingers, & smaller hands. Not a small child, but not a grown person, either.

It seems to me that if he was going to move the remains to a second site, why not move it 100 or 200 miles away. It seems like such a weird spot to begin with.

Unless you were trying to 'frame' SA. But then you could bury the remains somewhere that it would be more likely to be uncovered. So who knows?

I was thinking he/they took her to his mothers or grandmothers first then moved her there when the situation cooled downed a bit. With the phone pings and all it just makes sense to me.

The forensic anthropologist on NG tonight said that the bones in the hand don't completely fuse until sometime between the ages of 13 to 15. She said that a child of 13 almost certainly would have unfused hand bones and it would be quite obvious that the hand was a child's.

It sure seems odd to me that the body was there this whole time, and they just now find it???!!!! It also seems like a strange place to hide a body and not expect it to eventually be found.

Both are in C. City currently.

If the location the remains were found is the Desert Tanks expansion I posted about last night. I bet someone was sweating bullets when they saw that work going on.

I can't imagine someone would have buried a body in an area where people work. That shop is pretty darn close. Not to mention the disturbed earth would have been obvious.

Too short to snip. Reporter asked Ector County Medical Examiners office for definition of mummification.

The answer was body dries becoming almost petrified.

ETA: I lived in CenTex but not that area for about 9 years. It has relatively low humidity levels (compared to East of MS river, but higher than say West Texas. IIRC it usually ranges about 20% to about 40%. So that's relatively low compared to the eastern and southeastern states, but higher than West texas that can range about 10% or so. Give or take just from memory).

BD has never appeared to be nothing more than drug addicted, man addicted, poorly raised <mod snip> that would cover for her man, even if he is the perp that killed her daughter. Nothing new, nothing shocking. I never believed her for a minute. Time will tell.
