Exactly!
Totally o/t but I've gotta rant:
Speaking of toy stores, I decided this year for my niece (4) and nephew (8) I would take them to Geoffrey's to pick out their own presents from dh and me. What a cool aunt I was, thought I. So last night, I took the niece and all she cared about was playing on this giant slide/jungle gym thing, I had to BEG her to look at stuff. She hastily pointed to a book and said "can I go slide now?" So fine, I let her and made dh go watch her, no way was I gonna just go look around and take a chance on someone grabbing her. After a few minutes, when she was way up in the cage thing, I walked over and asked was she finished and ready to shop now? She shook her head "no" and I decided not to insist because she would never come back down, I had to play it cool. But I don't have kids and my patience on a scale of 1 - 10 for sitting around waiting is about -1, plus I was tired from doing my own shopping all day. So I waited until she came down the slide and calmly walked over to her and said that we had to finish, and that I had some stuff picked out and she could choose. But she totally could've cared less. She picked out Bella Dancerella dvd and she played with it last night and tonight. I hope she's thankful to me for not just saying to he!! with it and just getting her a book.
Tonight, I took my nephew, I knew he wouldn't care about the slide so I figured this would be a blast. He looked around for all of MAYBE five minutes, with me telling him to look around, take his time, and he asked could he "take a break". I said "take a break???? for what?" and do you know, he wanted to go play with the freaking Playstation they have in the store to lure kids with. WTF??? What's this I hear everytime I am with them or hear other kids in a store "can I have this, can I have that"???? So I made him finish his shopping and told him he could play with the playstation while dh and I paid for his stuff. And then it was like he "didn't hear" us when we hollered at him to come on.
Next year = gift card.
