Resemblance of McDuff and BSL

If there is no connection between the two, something is too weird. Some users said they can't see the resemblance. Well I can't post those pictures in the mickey Shunick only thread, but I hope they migrate to these... Where the young pictures and black and white pictures are. Thats not denialble

Actually it's creepy close in looks!
I am so hoping violence is not hereditary! Maybe the tendency towards it given environmental factors, but something that doesn't have to be!
Obviously I have a heartfelt reason for hoping this. /

I believe SOME violence is hereditary. Some.

I believe SOME violence is hereditary. Some.

Aggression yes. strong personality, perhaps very driven, confident, etc.
Violence? Another step. I just hope violent behavior and psycopathy is not something one is born with, but rather environmental issues added to perhaps a propensity towards violence.
Does that make sense? I know what I'm trying to put across, just not sure I am.

I would not be one bit surprised if they are related!
I know it seems like a long shot, but just look at them!!!!! And both with criminal minds!!!
Is there a way we can find out?

I need to say how bad I feel, that the thought that mickey Shunick is no longer with us is what has lead us to form sub forums. I won't ever believe Mickeys gone until I see or hear of a body, despite the overwhelming evidence that she isn't alive.

I sure understand! But I also look at what has been filed against BSL. They specifically said she and LP were murdered. I cannot imagine they going forward with 1st degree murder X 2 without substantial evidence. My personal feeling regarding mickey's courageous fight and the charges against BSL ....let's bring it to the finish for her win!

kkdj, I think I understand where you're going with this... And imo, no, I don't think anyone is doomed from birth, so to speak... I fully believe that a safe, positive, nurturing environment can give our children the necessary coping skills to live a productive, stable life... Even if they're genetic predisposition is less than favorable. I don't think anyone is born a hopeless cause, predestined to failure... We all have our own defects, but, imo, how they manifest themselves negatively, or positively, depends on our upbringing...

All jmo.

I read the book some years ago...but have put it on hold at my library to read it again. From what I recall, it is tough to read, and makes you very angry at the system. Also, considering it was not that long ago that he was released on parole, it is kind of ironic that Texas tends to brag about being so tough on crime...after releasing one of the most violent murderers ever...well, better late than never, I guess.

RE: We all have our own defects, but, imo, how they manifest themselves negatively, or positively, depends on our upbringing...

imo, heidisams, there have studies of this for decades and the conclusions/theories have been all over the board..
Seems, that it all boils down to individual choices..

How many families have multiple siblings raised in the same loving & nurturing environment, yet only one of the siblings chooses the path of evil?

While I don't think it's likely that McDuff and BSL are related, it IS possible. And the resemblance is uncanny! ugh!

I just finished reading this website http://www.originsnsw.com/mentalhealth/id4.html it is the mental health of the adoptive child. Now we do not know BSL experiences though life with his adoptive mother, nor do we know anything but still an interesting read.

A prisoner’s fifteen-page handwritten lawsuit, Ruiz vs. Estelle, exposed conditions in Texas prisons which proved unconstitutionally inhumane, including the use of inmates as guards. (McDuff ascended to the position of boss over fellow convicts following his exit from death row into the general prison population; his perks included a “gal-boy” who traded the usual personal services for McDuff’s protection from white supremacist former gang associates whom he had offended.) Ruling in the Ruiz case, Federal Judge William Wayne Justice placed the Texas prison system under the control of a Special Master and ordered that traditional prison overcrowding must cease.

Backwoods,
I am going to read the book also.
Can't wait to share perspectives!

The resemblance is incredible. I will try and get a copy of the book too. Just having a quick look at the author's site, he has a way of writing that is easy to read and with a different subject matter of course, entertaining. For non-Cajuns, (and probably Cajuns too) his Cajun chapter was interesting and a fun read: http://www.garylavergne.com/cajuns.htm

Aside from the physical, given what we know about BSL and the bribe attempt in the recent doc release, and "model prisoner" reference, and the 3 possible graves, connection not confirmed to MS disappearance, this is chilling to me and I wonder if it could help LE:

"He usually dug his graves in advance, always twenty paces from a landmark that he could find in the dark.

He seemingly enjoyed revisiting the graves, and not only in his imagination.

Something else about McDuff is clear in hindsight. He wasn’t clever or even particularly lucky, but he understood how to work the system and he knew that time was on his side

Over the next thirteen years, on six occasions, he got one of the two votes required for parole. Though he was later convicted of trying to bribe a parole officer, no time was added to his sentence. By the late eighties, he had melted quietly into the system: The parole board had long forgotten that McDuff was a vicious killer and had come to regard him as just another prisoner in an overcrowded system."

McDuff was incarcerated during BSL's conception & birth, but you hear so many stories of babies conceived in prison so not impossible.

I think it makes it even more unlikely though

Well if BSL starts to lose hair on his crown then I'll be convinced. LMAO
