You are correct Katydid!- They do not come home to visit during their mission- that is part of the point, as well as minimal communication home. They are supposed to be focusing on what they are there to do.

Here is a recent example. Rebecca Lockhart, the first woman to be Utah's House Speaker was dying. Her son was serving a mission in Virginia and did not return home to be at his mother's side. Good for him to be so focused on his religion.

Later in the day, Wilmot read the affidavits to Geffner to provide "coroborating evidence" of his knowledge of incidences where others had said these type of behaviors. When Geffner testified that this was on his timeline (he also said TA masturbated to child pic "on paper").

Yes but trial tweeters said it wasn't part of what he was talking about. It was on the screen though it wasn't being presented at the time if that makes sense. It was a trick.

I agree. I do think that is why this case fascinates so. Many people think to themselves, hey I know someone with those Jodi Arias traits and if not for the grace of God.......

This is a really good point. Total contradiction right there. All Juan has to do for this part is to show her testimony from last trial.

It does make you wonder how the DT could even allow the testimony from the affidative if there is this kind of total contradiction on the record. Are they that incompetant that they would not remember OR maybe they know something we dont know and they know Juan is going to be prevented from being able to counteract this.

I am really concerned that Juan may have his hands tied on this somehow.
Like maybe the judge will only let him cross Geff on the affidatives.

I'm really having a hard time rectifying what is going on with the witnesses, via Geffner and sherry's proclamation.

So far, so easily refutable. Why go this way? Jodi's last stand to drag every woman on the planet onto the stand that ever even IMed with Travis?

I agree it was a trick (IMO) just in case the DT couldn't get the affidavit's in, or Geffner's 'updated' timeline (since these were just written in Jan 2015), at least the sneaky way Jennifer got it planted in the jurors minds.

I think it will backfire in the end - Juan will just need to play Deanna's clip and that will be debunked. Jurors will be free to believe this one affidavit (or not at all).
Testimony has been heard that "tween" and child was never downloaded onto Travis' computer (just a possibility of a virus getting scrubbed) IIRC

I believe Jodi told it to Alyce Laviolette. Willmott's quip is a little disingenuous because it's been brought up several times by Juan. It is in her records. Judge would know this.

Adding to this, I believe Juan was comparing the nonsense of the "record" from the defense and saying that his record shows JA squeezed a cat until it passed out. Use one, the other one should come in. JMO

Those disgusting tactics of Lawrence could come back to haunt him. I'd expect Juan to ask her questions like:
- You testified in the original trial, right?
- And you were asked all sorts of personal and embarrassing questions by the defense team, weren't you?
- And then did you ever hear that some people were saying even more disgusting things about you on social media?
- Given all that, why didn't you just go into hiding and refuse to testify in public?

The questions Nurmi asked her were disgusting. Cheap tactic to shock Deanna and the jury. About "facials". Juan rebutted with "do you know if the defendant sent text messages asking him to do this?"

Deanna tells Nurmi that marriage had been discussed prior to her leaving on her mission.
She didn't put much thought into it because it was too early in the relationship to really think in those terms plus she was leaving for 18 months.
She tells Nurmi she was sad after receiving the breakup letter. Says after returning to Riverside in Nov 2001 she first saw Travis two weeks later. She learned he was dating Linda Ballard.

She is a very impressive witness. She answered every question. She remained calm. She is extremely believable. IMO there is no way what was read in the affidavit today is true.

That's what I got from it too. He was arguing to take out those silly obvious bogus accusations by MM, and she was saying why---we have it on record, as if Marc McGee saying it that means it is 'on record'---- Juan seemed to be implying that it will open the door for rumors he has 'on record' as well now.

All I know is if I was on the jury and I had learned all that I know now, I would feel compelled to give her the DP out of spite at this point.

I've had a chance to calm down and enjoy a few sips (glasses) of wine. I know Juan can and will fix this. I'm just disgusted it's even allowed in the first place. So, hearsay and affidavits from unknown people are allowed in this phase, it just blows me away how low these people will go. I don't know how they sleep at night. Once, I shorted the girl at the coffee drive thru place, we got chatting and I ended up driving away without paying. I clued in that night laying in bed when I realized I didn't give Her my debit card. I jumped up and looked at my online banking. Sure enough, no transaction. I climbed back into bed (it was midnight) and tossed and turned. It drove me NUTS. finally, at 1:30 am I got up and drove there to pay it because I knew if I waited until morning, I wouldn't sleep.
There's no way I could be a defense lawyer, lol.
