Right which is why for me personally I automatically assume that the DT may be up to something rather than an honest mistake.

We give people the benefit of the doubt when there is no reason to suspect them of anything else. With the way the DT has made false allegations against Travis and they already know it is not true (mass email), and many other examples of things like you mentioned, it leaves me thinking the DT could be doing something nefarious with the computer while they had it. Or providing the wrong hard drive on purpose just to delay trial more. If its an honest mistake, I will actually be surprised.

Nurmi will likely just claim it was accidental mistake and nobody will ever know if it was done on purpose.

But it would be interesting if a real reason surfaces and we find out things were done on purpose that were not ethical. Nurmi needs stopped if unethical things are done on purpose because the next thing he does could even be worse and have much more dire consequences.

I think Nurmi's postulations concerning JM's deliberate misconduct are ridiculous and smack of desperation, but I have a hard time believing the HDD debacle was deliberate. IDK, maybe I'm naïve. Nurmi certainly treads the fine line when it comes to ethical behavior, and his defense of the killer is ludicrous. If we knew more about who actually had physical possession of the drive maybe the explanation would be clearer. And if Juan suspected foul play he'd be on top of it, imo.

Some of my favorite posts too are from Nore and Hatfield and many others but they are expressing the desire to shut this trial down and sentence this killer to LWOP. I disagree completely about shutting down the trial and LWOP.

There is just a tad bit of revenge inside of me (yes I know that's not a good thing) and I want to see it through so Juan can slice and dice these people. No one should be allowed to humiliate and threaten and hurt the victims family the way they have done and get away with it.

She doesn't deserve LWOP. She deserves to be locked away in a very tiny concrete cell, no tv, no radio, no art papers, no AC, no heat, nothing but her own mind to remember what she has done. Let that be her death penalty. Death comes eventually to all. But she sure doesn't deserve to be placed in general population. That's a picnic compared to what Travis went through. JMO. MOO

I too am increasingly frustrated to the point where I'm almost willing to give up the idea of death just to get this over with. However, I know the family wants the death penalty. And I'm hanging in here for that reason alone. They will never proper closure without going through this process. They will be haunted by the 'what if' thoughts. Even if Arias does not get death the family will have the satisfaction of knowing that they did everything they could.

On the issue of DP versus LWOP, LWOP is no piece of cake. I know some of you are worried about Arias being able to adapt and adjust. Actually, she is violent and manipulative. She will have a hard time in prison. But, hey, if she wants to pretend that her gutter of a prison cell is a palace then let her do so. Having to live behind bars for life (regardless of the criminal friends/food and sex she may have in there) = hell on earth. And if we forget about her and focus only on Travis' life then that would really be worse than death for her. At that point she might actually 'beg for the death penalty' and mean it.

it would seem to me that the State should concentrate on the large glaring lies and skip over the small stuff. I think the jury would tune out completely if every little lie were exposed. It shouldn't appear that the State is picking on this woman and by limiting her answers to true or not true, it won't alienate the jury. By the time the state is up, the jury will be fed up and disgusted with the antic of the defense. If the State keeps it direct and simple, the state would make their point easier than it would were it to hammer her with the lies.

If she was prepared by ALV, she will not limit herself to a true or not true answer. ALV was extremely obstinate.

Could it be possible that the defense has finally stopped arguing with JA about how to proceed with this trial? I ask this because this current witness, who has been described on various occasions as an aging clairvoyant, a soothsayer, and a ventriloquist dummy (the last my description), is obviously spinning a tale that the still-obsessed convict would like. "Death in the background," etc.. Someone here made a reference to star-crossed lovers.

It has become clear to me that JA was obsessed with Travis--not in love with him, but obsessed. She wanted to own that young man, and she believed she did so sexually in a very revolting way. This is really hideous. During the guilt phase of the trial, she showed signs that she was still obsessed with him--showing interest in references to him and her, references to the interviews where she described their relationship, references (in graphic detail) of what she did to him, references to women he was sexually attracted to. This obsession was CARNAL. The spiritual aspects and aspects of real friendship were not there, no matter what JA believes. It's horrific. She attributes this carnal relationship to matters of mind and spirit, which were obviously lacking. And she still does, even six years after this man's death.

So this witness, the soothsayer, is convenient. Where did the defense find her?!

So very sad and true. In this killer's mind, Travis will always belong to her. That is truly revolting.

AZL what's the difference between the court video and media video besides who did the recording? Is it the "court video" that will be released after the trial or is there still one separate media camera recording it? If so, any idea who's manning it? (ch 12 maybe?) I know CNN/HLN all pulled out of the trial so it has to be local, right?

The difference is that the court video sucks.

There is still a media camera in the courtroom. I assume that will be released after trial. It is a "pool" camera so all media outlets that were interested decided who should operate it. I think it is Ch. 12 though.

I don't think so. Nurmi hasn't even responded to JM's motion yet. I suspect the judge will combine the arguments on both motions.

To say that she's obsessed with him is to imply that she can climb out of her own head. She's only obsessed with herself. All others, Travis included, are objects to be manipulated, arranged, and used for her ends. That's why she was able to kill him with no regrets. She is not obsessed with 'him', because he was nothing other than an object to her, and a very inconvenient one, in the end.

I agree. This woman is an antisocial personality (what used to be called a sociopath). If she's not locked up for life or put to death, she will remain a danger to others.

Rose, I know. We are all a bit sick of this trial. But we have come this far. And i dont see Juan being a quitter. And her family has invested a lot of time time, sweat, tears and money to hear what the jury has to say. As for prison, it would break me or you on day one. But not Jodi. She is a manipulator.

As far as forgetting her, as soon as she is sentenced, it will be over for me. I don't waste a minute thinking of Casey Anthony either. It may take some time, but they all have to answer one day.
