I don't think SUPER SEKRET testimony helped her that much. I know they wanted to paint her out to be a wholesome young innocent, although an abused one, that was fine until she met the horrible mean Mormon sex freak. But I don't think the testimony helped with that narrative.

Nothing that she testified to in childhood rose to a level of real child abuse. A wooden spoon? Kind of normal as far as parental discipline back in the day.

And her long list of past boyfriends painted a bizarre picture of a girl who began living with her boyfriend at 17. And then continued to routinely move in with boyfriends that she knew for only months at a time. That is not normal behavior. I don't think the jury feels all that sympathetic so far. JMO

I hope you're right. She's far from a normal wholesome girl. I would die if my son got mixed up with someone like her.

JM will get a chance to challenge her one way or another. Have faith. And this jury is hanging in there so far, they're invested. We haven't had a mistrial by juror attrition yet. It's almost over and the judge today told them to expect February.

I agree. The juror questions showed the jury is still online. I'm betting they are teed off that they had to sit through all that boring testimony to find out TA had no 🤬🤬🤬🤬 on his computer.

Sorry.....being compared to the evil at JAs "site" because one doesn't agree with the "expert" view here that Sherry is the best judge EVER is just too much. Malicious? Maybe not....insulting? Yes.
Hopefully, the family and loved ones of Travis are remembered tonight.

What "expert" here has said that? I, for one, have said repeatedly that JSS has terrible control over her courtroom, is too timid about making decisions, and is not conscious enough about the rights of the public/media.

She also is clearly not favoring the defense and tends to rule correctly on substantive legal issues.

I personally believe that JSS didn't write what she released today. I believe her staff did, after she told them her decision.

It's her ruling. She signed it. No doubt she has paralegals who did the research on the citings in the ruling as well. None of that makes it any less her ruling.

Exactly. If her staff wrote it, she earned that right to have staff that can do so. All judges have staff that do so. That is standard procedure.

Trial judges in AZ do not have paralegals, law clerks or any staff with any legal training.

The DT argued:

Inconsistent testimony was given by Detective Flores regarding the sequence of
injuries sustained by the victim.

....The Court denied the request for a new finding of probable cause by minute
entry dated January 10, 2013. Defendant filed a special action with the Arizona Court
of Appeals. The Court of Appeals declined jurisdiction.

I found it interesting that the DT had already petitioned the COA (secretly), way before the current debacle and its resolution. At that point it was shot down immediately because the DT sought the wrong remedy, as was mentioned more than once in the judge's explanation of her rulings.

I imagine this will continue to be the DT's recourse and threat .

IIRC Judge Perry in the CA case finally had enough motions for a mistrial that he told Mason that no more motions for mistrial will be heard until after the trial. Sure wish JSS would do this.

I notice the dates of those motions go back to Sept. I question whether holding these motions so long has encouraged the DT to keep filing more, and of course once filed, JM has to work to respond to them. In his spare time, of course. I also remember an awful lot of disrespect directed toward the prosecutor & the lead detective allowed in the courtroom, in public hearings, filed motions - even accusations of illegal activity with little to no foundation. I remember that too many of the DT's accusations in motions are unsealed, while JM's replies often are. I remember JM practically begging for his lawful right to interview witnesses, and to make the DT follow the rules regarding notification - most of those were ignored or denied. Remember quite a bit of testimony the prosecutor wanted to present has been ruled against as being too prejudicial. I do also remember that the reason stated for unconstitutionally closing the court during a trial was not her right to testify, it was her right to present mitigation. I remember that originally JSS offered the DT various ways they could accomplish this, but she backed down when Nurmi growled. I remember too that a fair trial is supposed to be fair to all, not just the one that can file appeals, and that the State represents the people. I definitely remember there was a victim in this case, not just a defendant with revenge on her mind and a defense team that wouldn't know an ethic if it hit them between the eyes. A victim whose friends and loved ones sit there while this trial drags on and on due to mismanagement. Glad to finally see the rulings, but nothing is changed in my mind about how this judge has impacted this case. A case, btw, that should have been a slam dunk because of the savagery of the attack and all the evidence against the defendant - probably why they thought it was safe to be her first DP case. It wasn't. IMO.

Wow! If I could stand and applaud you right now I would. You have me in tears!! And let's not forget how all of this baloney could impact that one juror that Jodi needs. That one juror may be swayed and think the prosecution are the bad guys and that the judge is siding with the defense. All they need is one juror. This should have been over within a couple weeks. Yes I blame the judge, as well as the defense.

I remain confident in Juan that not one juror will be swayed. He's put several people on Death Row before in AZ, including a woman who killed her husband who had Cancer, because he wasn't dying fast enough.

Very interesting deduction there, it certainly makes sense, and we know there were a few text messages after the 1st that 'mysteriously disappeared' according to JA on the stand (think it was a response to a juror question near the end), he likely was specific about what the 26th fight was all about and she wanted all of that erased.

Yes and Chris and Sky told Dr. Drew that what followed that did not get divulged at trial was Jodi said that she would be calling her attorney the next Monday. http://youtu.be/W2qr05dBgsg?t=23m7s

He must have been telling her what she did was not just morally wrong, but indeed illegal. Chris posted a screenshot of Jodi's brother where he admits the reason she recorded the sex tape was to send to future love interests of Travis. So HE DID NOT KNOW she was recording it, if the purpose of the recording was blackmail. Poor Travis said it correctly "I don't want your apology. I WANT YOU TO KNOW HOW EVIL I THINK YOU ARE. You are THE WORST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME! screenshot of JodiArias' brother.jpg http://youtu.be/W2qr05dBgsg

Her ruling is in such detail, there really isn't anything for Nurmi to come back with. She covered every detail and even defended JM and EF. Good for the judge.

Wanna bet?

My son was 20 when this whole mess started. When I saw her Inside Edition clip I FORCED my son to watch it and then to look at the crime scene photos. At the time, he was kind of blasé about 'hooking up' with girls he had just met. Watching Jodi lie, and seeing poor Travis scared the he!! out of my son. :slap:

See? I told you to have confidence in her... Even if she did know the COA would rule against her, everything is covered for appeal.

Nope, not buying it. It seems good for her though right now.

I know. I love Juan. In fact, the bottom of your post should say "I support Juan. He rocks!" now, I would agree with that. But again, he failed to convince the foreperson during the guilt phase that she deserved death. And why? Because the defense put on their little show of lowering her chair and letting her stay on the stand 18 days. Oh don't get me started.

Wise mother! See I force the coverage on my 13-year-old daughter so she won't turn out like Jodi.

Will do, but have a little faith- this is a different jury.

After today I'll never think of her as anything but reprehensible, actually. I'm glad she outlined all the no's to Nurmi, but that doesn't make her a good judge much less a hero. It makes her an adequate judge ruling on a pile of motions. That's it.

Yes. It doesn't excuse the way she manages things and how she contributes negatively to the trial.

Funny. I thought AzLawyer meant that basically while we are frustrated by JSS's for whatever reason, JA's supporters are actually the ones who get denied/dismissed/adios on every issue of importance. And that when you think about it, both sides are against the same judge, claiming she's for the other side. And since I stalk her post, it's not something that she's said for the first time.

But aye, I'm asleep... Zzzz

Holy **** - that's a lot of motions.

The amount of motions is insane. IMO, more insane is that the judge didn't address them as they came along. Perhaps that might have slowed down the DT's petty nonsense which seems to be propelling this trial into the next year.
