Question for the board: If Judge Stephens were to write a book after this was over would you read it? Maybe explaining some of her thinking/decisions/personal experience withthis case?

Probably. I'd be curious.

You are giving JSS too much credit. The judge really let down the bars here. Not only will Nurmi &Co be scrutinized for years to come but so will JSS. Wake up Judge and grow a spine.

ETA: Not only will Nurmi be scrutinized but he made a gamble and lost. Thank goodness.

Sorry if I am sarcastic. I am just so happy the COA overturned JSS. Guess my revenge side is showing. Good day for justice for Travis. I hope his family can at least be thankful for this much for Thanskgiving. I feel so bad for all they have gone through.
God bless them!

I totally agree and I really think this was just another simple example of JSS going way too far in agreeing to something the DT was asking.

I think it was simply Jodi exclaiming in judges chambers saying (while stomping foot):
"I'm not going to testify then, unless you let me do it without the mean public"

And JSS response (without thinking much at all about it possibly being against the constitution):
"Ok then. We sure don't want to have this be an appeal issue where I did something that prevented you from testifying"

Seriously, JSS could not have known in advance that the media would file an appeal on this. She could not have predicted that would happen and she could not have predicted their ruling. She just blew it big time along with some of her other bend-over-backwards things she has allowed for the DT.

I hope the Media now files another appeal to reconsider allowing live TV footage of this phase. The last phase had it, and this twitter nonsense is making it much worse because we (the public) can be receiving inaccurate information because we cannot see it for ourselves.
The telephone train game--person A talks to person B who talks to person C and the original message is totally different by time it hits person C.

But I'll take this COA ruling for now....Yippeeee
Common sense prevails for once.

Does anyone have a link to the post or article where it was stated specifically what the testimony was in the sealed courtroom? The Alexander's have not leaked things, and any court officer who did leak something would both be fired and this would lead to a mistrial. This is kinda serious.

Troy Hayden said his source saw Jodi testifying when a door swung open. That's it. As to the content, (she stopped short of meeting Travis), that hasn't been confirmed. It's really not a big deal, especially in light of the new ruling. It's not a secret anymore.

Don't know who the third witness is, Curious, but during the hearing at the COA, Nurmi mentioned that more than one witness might need to testify secretly. I don't know what that was all about. ? He could have been blowing smoke, as usual.

I believe Martinez said there was 2 experts, MAYBE some affidavits and someone from California........I swear it was from one of the limited videos we actually was able to see, by Croaker Queen. Will see if I can find it......

From what I can recall, it started with a trial watcher seeing Arias on the stand through the courtroom door/window. I also seem to remember one of the Arias fans boasting that Arias would be on the stand. Troy later tweeted that he had confirmed from 3 reliable sources that it was Arias testifying.

Someone with a better memory will correct me if I'm wrong.

Juan said it in the hearing after the COA ruling. He also said, "the witness that was testifying CAN be called." Many of us took this as him dropping the hint that the secret witness was Jodi and there's nothing in her schedule stopping her from continuing to testify.

What is really really curious to me is why the attention loving narcissistic sociopath Jodi Arias would not want more attention on her at this stage. Anyone have a guess?

  • #329
No, not at all.

Now if Juan Martinez were to write a book then I'd buy 10 copies at the very least. :loveyou:

Stole my very thoughts rose. :)

Oh Maria probably called Keifer, who called a tweeter, who gladly posted it. Lol.
Speaking of Keifer, he's been conspicuously quiet today. Must be too busy consoling Nurmi. :shame:

No. Someone leaked information to Troy. Could have been any of the people who was still allowed in the courtroom or who were told who was testifying and to what. If I remember correctly, he said that multiple sources confirmed that it was Jodi testifying. Someone probably told him by phone or in person or whatever.

I am still very curious how they find out this stuff and I would not want Nurmi to win a mistrial motion because of the STUPID media who sometimes does not think before they print. JMHO

I really like Judge Stephens and have given her the benefit of the doubt in the absence of explanation for her actions. I hoped (still do) that her method will save time in future appeals and keep CMJA tied on a narrow path to her fate. Ultimately, what the Travis Alexander family and friends have to say will be of most importance. Juan Martinez and Detective Flores opinions will also be of great interest.

The ideliberate hysterics of the Defense Team, rudeness of 'experts' time delays and attempts to lose jurors all seem to be difficult for JSS to handle. I don't think she likes Arias - quite the opposite - but she has allowed the smug, arrogant murderer too much room. Allowing Arias to testify privately seems wrong on so many levels. I feel for Travis' family.

Just to be clear, I WAS WRONG about JSS in certain respects. The harsher critics, sadly, appear to have been absolutely right. I feel sad saying this because I believe she has tried and is trying her very best. She looks stressed and tired but appears to conceal it to an extent. Maybe time will judge the judge more kindly. I tru,y hope so.

Because WS detectives, figure out what she is up too! She gives too much away when talking, lies more etc. WS detectives, are super wonderful!

It's a game. It's her last chance to exert some kind of control over anything and this was what she came up with. The look on her face when the media was let back in was pure anger. She liked being able to control them and what the "haters" got to see.

And it also bolsters her future appeal that the media's presence hurt her case by inviting threats from the public. The judge thought it was such a big deal that she sealed her courtroom.

Luckily, the COA quashed that.

I don't believe it was ever turned into a printed article per se, just tweeted.

Four FIVE :blushing: guesses!
1) She could pretend to the jury that she truly does not like the media attention and that it was her intention all along to keep all these nasty information regarding Travis and her family secret as to not hurt anyone.
2) She could pretend to the jury to be a shy, fragile flower who really didn't want the media there making her even more shy..
3) She's going to say her parents abused her. Kind of hard to tie that to the same parents who are fundraising on her behalf.
4) She knows Juan Martinez is going to destroy her and she didn't want the evil media (and the likes of Nancy Grace) reporting on it.
5) Out of SPITE! She just wanted to keep her haters out of the loop.

First info came from a CMJA supporter who posted on the "public" area of their site, instead of the "vent area". It said she'd be taking the stand.
Then CMJA's aunt said the TA camp leaked the info.
And...........someone opened the court room door and "saw" CMJA on the stand an gave a head's up to Troy.

I suppose he figured if it's Jodi on the stand, then what's the damn secret? You locked us out so she could testify in a sealed hearing? This is madness.

Good post!
