I'm going to hypothesize as to what or why Ms Arias suddenly got media shy on the world. I have three theories. One.) Nurmi might not be a totally terrible attorney and cracked that thick stubborn head of hers. He could have convinced her to finally show sympathy, be honest, let's say mental illness and they might let you get lwop. So maybe she did tell the truth about that day, and then worked backward, so when Kiefer's source peeked, they saw Nurmi asking her take on meeting Travis. This would be to show she didn't take it as meeting a cute guy, but as well, something mentally unhealthy. Two.) Ms Arias went ham on the sexual abuse claims. I rewatched the student council speech she gave at the last trial. Her only emotional moments are talking about Angela. I'm curious as to if she did give birth to her. But who is the father? Three.) Ms Arias just told an even more outrageous lie than before. She's facing the death penalty. What's perjury?

Maybe in the event of an LWOP sentence Marissa Devault and Missy Arias will be BFF's with Benefits and mutually terminate each other.

On the subject of DeMarte testifying in the Marissa Devault trial, she sure doesn't have a problem diagnosing psychopathy or antisocial personality disorder. DeMarte hedged on this in JA's last year trial, but I can't wait for her to enervate JA (poof! boohoo!) this time around with explicit data point by data point examples of psychopathy. This should be quite a sight!

I just read on 13th Juror's blog that JA and Devault were jail podmates. Judging from their trial BS, they collaborated on story lines. DeMarte is coming back to the JA case bringing all her experience from the Devault case? After evaluating a similar psychopath with an identical story line?

In her short professional career, I'll bet DeMarte has testified in more trials than Dr. F. Note KN didn't ask Dr.F about volume or dates (her last gig was in 2009, IIRC), but has emphasized years of experience. Dr. F is gonna look worse than she does already....

Wouldn't you love to see a sequence like this? (Juan and DeMarte)
"Ma'am, do you agree or disagree with Dr F's opinions on Mr Alexander?"
"I'm not qualified to answer that."
"Is that because she has so many more years of experience?"
"No."
"Can you explain what it is then that prevents you from doing so?"
"I'm a psychologist, and she made no diagnoses. She used cherry-picked evidence and mind-reading to 'draw conclusions'. That's not what professional psychologists do, and I have no training in the area of mind-reading."

Does anyone know if we heard whether or not JM received that disk from BN today????

BN said last week he was WAY too busy to do it until late next week. And of course JSS said nothing, even though he already had two chances to produce it.

Thank you.

Two orders, iirc.

Oh yes, I know! I was just adding in what other case she had testified as well, in reply to the post I referenced.

Thank you. I was a wee bit confused. Confused is par for the course, for me. lol.

He has integrity and passion. Everything you describe shows how much. IF you ever get the chance, Katy, please would you tell him that he has admirers from all over the world? Not admiring in an inappropriate way but as a sincere appreciation for his work and passion for justice. My sister has also watched the trial because Martinez is mesmerising. It moves me that the fight for justice for Travis Alexander is so well supported. Juan Martinez has played a huge part in that. He is a modern day hero. Nothing less. The pressure he must have been under, for so long, under intense scrutiny - hard to imagine. I hope he knows the huge affection out there for him.

I so agree about Juan and bolded some key points.

This case really needs him too because a lesser attorney with not as much skill as he has may not have been able to combat all the sneaky tricks that the DT is trying to pull.

He is a master and it is a pleasure to watch him work.

A good example was how worried we all were about the fake allegations about deleted 🤬🤬🤬🤬, and once he got to address it he quickly points out how the DT team themselves were involved in corrupting the hard drive. I was ROFLMAO.

He has a style all his own and it may come across as course at times. But nobody can deny he has extreme passion for seeing justice done. And I for one feel safe and glad that he is at the helm of this.

He is "Juanderful" :)

I hadn't thought of "cougar-licious", but you're probably right. Cougar-whatsit's spelling is still all wrong, though, any way you parse it.

Dontcha know, spelling isn't her strong point. everyone has to be good at something. For her, it's showing up at court looking like she just stepped off the set of A Night At The Roxbury

Your guess is as good as mine. If I follow my gut, I'm guessing no, the expert probably isn't done fudging the evidence yet.

Now the C.O.A. ruling has aerated the retrial, we should know the defense witnesses shortly. Back on August 13, the sheriff complained that he still did not have the necessary witness list due the jail. Arias was representing herself, cloaking everything and wanted her jail visits with witnesses kept secret. That didn't fly and we know one secret individual was turned away. She also told the court that she was adding & removing names. By August 29, Juan Martinez moved for sanctions against Arias because she still had not produced her witness list for the prosecution. One month later, the court sealed both the defense and the prosecution witness lists. The corner was lifted for awhile though and Js. Aiken was on a very short list. The affidavits were mentioned too. BTW, the secret jail visitor was rescheduled for a September interview and the trial was considerably delayed because of that. Keeping these moves & these figures dark is so absurd I can't even post about it any more.

Yep. Jodi wanted James Aiken as a witness. Whether that happened or not :dunno:

Thanks, after I posted that I found out that camera's weren't in the courtroom and I hate reading tweets so I'll just read the summarizations here and read media articles.

I feel like I'm all caught up already just from reading the stuff posted since I posted that.

Steely Dan, so good to see you!! (there are a few others I miss from first trial). It is quite easy to get caught up quickly (short court days when in session with oodles of long Sidebars, you know, you remember first trial lol) , but the morning WAT tweets are the tweets with all the sense of humor...those alone would be worth your while. I sure laughed a lot.

I'm guessing YES Juan did get the disc(s) from BN. I guess we'll have to wait until Monday to see if JM files a motion about all this crappola. More :waiting:

"Orders"?? Wasn't it "motions"? Feeble minds need to know. :gaah:

Not sure, but it had the court's seal on it, so good enough for me! ;-)

(Legalese is not my strong suit either.)

I looked up unconventional sex studies and what that relates to. It's a pretty broad term. One man's "unconventional" is another man's Friday night lol. It's a bit subjective and to be honest seems a bit of an antiquated area of study.

Again, why was Fonseca, an expert in this area of study, even called if she wasn't here to discuss the sexual aspects but assess their relationship? If she wasn't there to discuss TA's alleged pedophilia, why call her? Couldn't any old body from AZ have done that, without the need for the person to be an expert in that particular area? And with the licensure to conduct an actual evaluation? They were very careful to avoid that so the doctor could speak in broad terms. It just seems like the DT just keeps dipping from the same pool. Why? Why can't they find anyone in their neck of the woods with the qualifications who are willing to testify for them? Are they just not trying or have they gone all clique-y?

So many questions, so little answers :sigh:

I'm still wondering whether JA is a hermaphrodite, or as it's called these days, intersex(her pics from the "photo shoot" they supposedly had that day got me wondering). I had even tried asking Dr.Drew last year what he thought, but of course if he ever addressed my question I missed it. :/ Anyway, perhaps that would fall under the veil of unconventional sex studies?

What isn't said is sometimes more important than what is.

We don't have testimony from a reputable expert detailing how incredibly destructive an emotionally abusive relationship can be. Sometimes, an abusive relationship that has NO physical violence can be more injurious than one where a victim is beaten repeatedly. Physical injuries may heal but emotional abuse can wreak immense psychological damage (and many times emotional abuse is simply a precursor to physical violence or is concurrent).

We don't have testimony from a reputable expert detailing the hell on earth living with a cluster B, axis II personality disorder really can be. Imagine if your only coping mechanism was to cut yourself when you felt stressed? Or visualize, if you can, actually telling your loved ones you were going to commit suicide because they're not giving you enough attention? Can you picture the amount of manipulation involved? How nearly every relationship has been ruined because so few people can tolerate all the traits PD brings with it (to include, but certainly not limited to: deception, manipulation, self-harm, reckless behavior, emotional blackmail, etc.)? How such a disorder not only limits social opportunities but can also have a wrecking ball effect on school and work potential as well? And very often the disordered person truly believes all the problems they have in life are NOT of their doing - so the world is out to get them and they are a victim of constant persecution. No one can love them enough. Admire them enough. Respect them enough. They are forever left disappointed and very often left period because loving them can be so daunting, so exhausting, so taxing. There is a hole in their soul absolutely nothing will ever be able to fill.

I'm incredibly biased when it comes to personality disorder. You can't live with someone who has PD and not be, in my opinion. The experience taints one's perception of personality disorder as mental illness - for me, it's more like the personality disorder swallows up the original personality relatively early in life. However, the defense had ample (if largely unbelievable because of the manner in which it was presented) grounds for mitigation. Had they followed that line we'll never know if it may have swayed anyone...

But to me, their silence on either emotional abuse or borderline personality disorder, by bringing in an expert that prioritizes sexual deviancy screams rather loudly their only goal truly is disparaging the victim.
