@jeffgoldesq: The reason #JodiArias deserves public ridicule is not because she murdered but bec she looked straight into the camera and lied about it.

I don't like to give up easily but...........I think I can see the writing on the wall....this witch is gonna get life and the best prosecutor in the world cannot change that........so sad that I feel this way.

Great question MeeBee. I don't have a clue. Never served on a jury. Just seems to me both could/would lie to meet their objectives.

Yes both sides can and probably will. But if you're asking me which side is more likely to be truthful I'm gonna say it's the pro-death side. They want to be honest because they want to a.)express their opinion to her face and b). Protect a verdict from themselves if they were caught lying.

A pro-life juror will want to lie and get on and save her. They don't care if the verdict is protected. Only one person has said that they don't believe JA deserves death. 1? Out of 400? While many have expressed their belief that she is deserving of the death penalty. That seems statistically impossible.

I have jury duty beginning Friday. All this trial following since I last served 4 years ago has made me cold toward the whole thing. I am not a fan and am not looking forward to it at all. The last case I was on was a hung jury simply because a good old redneck boy and his friend could not vote guilty simply because they did not like police. Plain and simple.

That's a tough one. I feel she deserves the DP because of how she killed Travis. Three times over. Even if I set that aside and listen to the evidence that's presented, wouldn't I still feel she deserves the DP for the same reasons? I'm not sure there's ANYthing Jodi or her defense team could say that I would consider a reasonable explanation/mitigating circumstance. I'd be willing to listen but would I be sent home too?

I could be in guilt phase but going into jury room, my mind would be made up. Since this is a second penalty trial, i just don't think anyone is impartial. They just have to be good actors to hide their decision from the attorneys. This will be a very short deliberation. Very short. Either way.
(speaking only as a potential juror in jodiarias trial)

Truthfully, I believe Travis is at peace. This spectacle of justice is for those left behind. The last conscious thoughts are horrific to imagine which I why I don't go there.

I tend to think he was so close to his siblings that he won't truly rest until they do.....and I don't see them resting until she's no longer living.

Oh my that's a disgusting reason for voting not guilty. Maybe you could tell them you are jaded because of Jodi Arias trial and you can get out of it. :)

Does anyone posting here TRUTHFULLY believe they could be impartial? If it really came down to it and you were chosen for the jury?

Not me. She is guilty and do not want her out in the world, but I could never impose the death penalty on someone. I think they would kick me out on principle :/

Very good reasoning. It is what I would do. Tell her to her face.

Yeah, someone wants on badly, maybe to express their opposition to the DP with their decision. For those who have followed the case closely, I think there is a good possibility that only one out of four hundred would say she didn't deserve to die. But signing your name on a paper to execute her might be very different.

But Travis didn't get to vote at all....CMJA had no problem giving him the death penalty!!

They'd have to. If you were honest you can't be on a death penalty case if you don't believe in the death penalty. It's not about principle. You have to be willing to apply the law.

Now that is an idea!!!!! I can also tell them I am aware you cannot disclose other crimes a defendant has committed. I don't think they will want me and I sure don't want to be there. A friend of mine also goes that day and she has never served....she has said she intends to tell them straight up she is pro death penalty all the way, lol.

@TrialDiariesJ: Her impressions of #jodiarias from media coverage are "not favorable" #jodiarias

If it's known that's she's a brutal killer with added circumstances that could be worthy of the death penalty, it doesn't exactly seem a surprise that anyone feels "not favorable" toward her. That's not the question here. Maybe the DT wants anyone struck for cause who can't raise their hand and say "I like her despite her being a cold-blooded murderer"?

Steve Cantrell, "he had multiple trauma... Primarily to the head" on 7-month-old Joseph Hilliard @JSunNews

This one is going on 45 minutes from me....a baby.....death penalty case for sure.

Seems like. I don't know why someone who thought she didn't show any remorse would be booted over someone who was overtly wishy washy over his belief in the death penalty.

I was asked about could I be impartial. I could not. I am not in favor of the death penalty. I believe it is barbaric, immoral, and does nothing to deter crime.

Like MeeBee says, they would have to kick me out once I tell them those are my convictions, or if you want to call it different, my imability to apply a law I am convinced is wrong.

Exactly right. Which is why I would be ineligible, but I would be super upfront about it. I can see though, people who are willing to lie in order to hang a jury ---that is messed up, but I am sure it happens.

Ridicule? More like contempt - it is because she murdered and looked straight into the camera and lied about it.
