I agree. It would have been in their best interest to focus on the alleged emotional abuse e-mail from the Hughes and JA's mentally illness.

I believe they wanted to do just that but JA insisted that the smear campaign continue. It's still mostly about her reputation.

Not true if you are LDS. In order to receive a temple recommend the Bishop literally asks the questions if you have masturbated, fornicated, or had thoughts of ill-repute.

Bottom line here is Travis did lie, he did portray himself as a 30 y/o virgin.

Again, I think the DT strategy is to go after 1 devout LDS juror. (JMO)

I don't tend to judge people based on ideologies I don't subscribe to. Travis may have wanted to hold himself to standards he couldn't follow, but I think that's silly. And I think there's a difference between deception and maintaining an image. He's not trying to hurt anyone with hiding his sexual activities, he's ashamed of them. And most people don't share that stuff anyway. Some people say this makes him hypocritical. But we are all human, we all make mistakes. And if that's hypocritical then every one who is religious is hypocritical at some time or another.

Mitigating factor? Hardly.

This whole closeting thing is crazy. Most adults don't run around telling everyone their private business. Heck, DH and I had only 2 friends in another state who knew we were dating. I introduced him to my family AFTER we got engaged! That was nearly 34 years ago. It was our private time to get to know each other without other people getting involved in our business.
