I just don't get the whole mitigation thing- to my non-legal mind, there is NOTHING that can lessen the seriousness of what she did, and no excuse at all, ever.
They should just sentence her and be done with it! IMO

If she were mentally ill like Andrea Yates (i.e. not knowing what she did was wrong and verified as suffering from psychosis, which is a legal defense) that would be a mitigating factor. Arias knew right from wrong so there's goes that theory. She was able to plan and carry out an elaborate series of actions, all done to affect her murdering Travis. She drove to her "abuser" and there's no proof she was invited there and in fact she took great pains to hide the fact she was in AZ. There goes that theory.

Her only mitigators are no prior felonies, 1 adult victim, no others killed. And of those, AZ may only recognize the no prior felonies, not sure.

Just to help put this into perspective - one of my ex's go to arguments when I wasn't behaving how he wanted me to was to threaten suicide. He even jumped off a (not so high) bridge in front of his daughter and got locked up on a mandatory psych hold for scaling this and threatening suicide:

He was diagnosed with antisocial/narcissistic personality disorders. In other words, a psychopath. Attempting or ideating suicide doesn't make her any less of a monster. And, much like my ex, she could just as easily be manipulating others through threatening self-harm. Likely a pattern throughout her life.

I find it slightly disturbing that the #JodiArias Lifetime movie makeup artist has tagged Travis Alexander crime scene on her site.

Even if she is currently depressed, suicidal, anxious, and is no longer aggressive - still doesn't negate that she murdered Travis in an especially heinous fashion.

I don't see this as a defense even with the dissociation because she was not actively psychotic (ie: The woman who killed her 5 kids because the voices told her to do so).

(Whatever! I've never seen someone that lies as calmly as Jodi Arias does. I am not surprised she fooled his tests.)

I wonder how many times he let her take that test? Did he fill in the blanks for her like RS's did

I always feel for Andrea Yates. Now there was a very ill woman. I often wonder how she copes with knowing what she did, or if she even has realised fully what she did.
