Weelllll, technically you can with an IDE to USB adapter. Or you can boot from a live OS on a USB stick and bypass the target computer's OS.

And then deleted them? Or not? And it wasn't the roommate because he said he never touched it and BESIDES HE WASN'T A FRICKING MESA PD EMPLOYEE so had no access to it?????
