Nothing says "low self-esteem" like writing a personal "manifesto" from Yreka jail weeks after slaughtering your beloved.

Judge enters, Nurmi asks to approach. #jodiarias

I know I'm in the minority here but I don't see how this BPD diagnosis will help the state get the DP. Hopefully the autopsy photos will convince the jurors to vote for death.

“@Tammybaby65:"@SheilaNJ: @JoeyJacksonEsq Why is #jodiarias allowed to switch from 'self defense' to 'mental illness' defense?"Shouldn't be!

Warning: Bash me if you'd like..I won't take it personally. .....

It would be human for jurors, maybe especially the men, to listen to what they heard yesterday and wonder why the heck Travis put up with her behavior. (No, I am NOT blaming the victim!)

He's telling a GF that JA has come into his house uninvited, spied on him when he was in his own home with a GF, hacked his emails, read his journals, waited for him outside the bathroom door, taken a ring out of one of his closed drawers, and probably slashed his tires.

He's telling someone that, and warning her that JA will likely take revenge on her just because he's speaking to her. He's also expressing his belief JA has an accomplice who is essentially stalking two of his GF's.

As a juror, it would make me need to understand why he didn't draw an absolute line in the sand with her. DM went a long toward explaining this, by saying he thought she might really commit suicide if he did that.

It helps that they also have the history of other BF's being equally incapable of handling her. If jurors don't have these explanations firmly in mind I can imagine that they might at least consider one of her other mitigators on the list......that she was especially vulnerable to and affected by their tumultuous relationship (defined loosely).

Not because he was being abusive (I think that's been discredited), but because her BPD made her extremely likely to misinterpret ANY intimate contact.

Actually, I think a lot of guys would totally get why TA acted the way he did. Our culture has 2 different messages going: 1) guys are supposed to be in charge and strong, figure out when someone is taking advantage, and get the heck away; 2) guys are supposed to be gallant and come to a woman's rescue. A guy who doesn't meet both criteria, according to our social myths, is not a 100% guy. I have a feeling a lot of men feel inadequate and confused in this area, because social expectations are contradictory.

What's interesting is how TA seems to consult with a lot of women to try to figure out how to look at his predicament with JA. He also got corroboration from these women about JA's true nature. I find it illuminating that he went out of his way to look at JA from different angles. Especially when he's at the same time trying to figure out who he is as a man. To my mind, this was a mature and creative way to get reality checks on what was happening in his life.

Anyway, men and women on the jury will both see aspects of TA's struggle reflected in themselves. And most everyone has had a crazy someone in their lives. They will know that "rational" goes out the window.

Don't know either. Hoping it allows more to be entered at a later time by Juan that further explains her behavior i.e. premeditation.

BK:
The judge had been conferring with the bailiff and a deputy for several minutes after the sidebar.

Not for me. I see those traits as more in the realm of narcissism, antisocial or psychopathy (depending on other factors). Much of her behavior is consistent with borderline - but borderline is also associated with low-self esteem and feelings of worthlessness. Add to your list a lack of remorse and empathy too. Those too don't jive with borderline.

Exactly. I see NO low-self esteem issues, just the opposite. For sure she lied on the tests, maybe that's why she is not being considered for full fledged psychopath???

And that's why I keep bringing up her identification and obsessions with ningas and martial art films, which started at an early age. How many women own swords???

She considers herself a hero. Revenge was her motive.

She's losing it? She's getting labeled as whacked by Nurmi and can't deal with it?

i don't know how many times ive said to my other half i'd have loved to have been on this jury (only about 5000 miles between me and that) but i actually think i'd have completely lost my marbles by now, sitting in my jury chair rocking back and forth :floorlaugh:
