Geffner: you can't use words "practice" or "psychology" until you are licensed,

DM was unethical in saying she was "in practice while she was being trained" before she was licensed

If a student said they were practicing before a license it could get them kicked out of the program for ethics violation

Psychologist has to be licensed for at least two years in AZ before you can supervise others.

Daps test and what DeMarte said about it. DM said she gave the Daps 3 times according to defense but DeMarte testified she didn't give this test

DeMarte says no validity scales on it. Geffner says there are.

Is DeMarte is experienced enough on this test

Geffy explained his administration of this test to Juan, twice ; Juan didn't want to hear it and walked out of the room

DeMarte focused on the 2 different traumas JAidentified.. Geffner says both are domestic violence

JA told him of the traumas he didn't suggest what they were; she told him about what Travis did to her the day of the murder…scratching Travis but stopped because she didn't want to hurt him

Notes from DeMarte didn't have the fact Jodi didn't want to hurt Travis during the choking incident

JA answered different about her traumas and according to Geffner it doesn't make the tests invalid

Demarte stated no summary scales were on the TSI.... that's not correct

Slams Dr DeMarte saying she has "a little bit of knowledge and becomes dangerous.

JA didn't "fake it" on the testing, his test is not specific to psychosis like DeMarte stated.

Willmott is going over test security on all the tests

DeMarte did wrong. She should have never given him the questions to test

Geffner says Juan was reading questions and was asking him about them and it made him uncomfortable that JM knew them

JM was going to show these ?'s in court and he had to object… had to say something

JM isn’t a psychologist and can't look at the questions on the test.

Geffy on objections from prosecutor: "Last time I looked, Mr. Martinez was not a psychologist”



I have cut and paste capability for 1st time in either trial and am not afraid to use it..

You give them more credit than I do, they know what they do. I was going through a very bad divorce several years after Lenore Walker's book came out, I went to counseling for DV and read her book, and at that time I never even heard of PTSD. So this trial hits a little close to home for me. I find the "unusual persons" the defense has dug out indefensible. It's all about the money for them. And some kind of deep manhate for ALV. As for Bob, well the name I have for him will stay in my head.

ShadyLady, I hear you loud and clear--if I had my way I would wipe the DV speciality field completely clean, start over, set clear standards of practice based on empirical research rather than anectodal theory, eliminate blind advocacy for evidence based professional approaches, ensure that the academic course work has a basis in empirical science, abolish experience in lieu of education, set forth immovable professional boundaries on providing "opinions"--which as it now stands just really translates as...how the expert feels about things without one shred of objective/clinical evidence, and so much more.

If it is not already evident, I have huge problems with the current condition of this specialty, and strongly believe there is a desperate and immediate need for wide sweeping reform in this field. And I don't say this lightly, but it has to be said---the DV specialty as practiced by the "old guard" has the potential for great harm to both the victim and society as a whole. However, I do want to recognize those in the field that work against unbelievable resistance to bring change, current research, the inclusion of personal responsibility, and more evidence-based techniques to the practice of DV.
