Retrial for Sentencing of Jodi Arias - Day 6

The black, shiny thread (coated with tar) leads back to the period at summer's end when Arias was representing herself. She had a private, secret list of her oh-so-special witnesses. She even made some covert moves at the jail & was furious when the jailor wouldn't "comply". As if she was protecting them with her life..the drama! My belief is that this shrinking witness, no doubt wearing costume suitable for both holding forth today & Halloween, is a personage from the August list. It is probably NOT a name we would guess and I would not be surprised if the testimony was whispered.

I dunno guys...I'm really leaning toward ALV. She really has nothing to lose, her reputation is already shot, she could milk some more $$ from this trial and she did spend hours interviewing/fraternizing/gift giving w/ this murderer. And she seems to have a soft spot for her.

Thoughts?

Yeah. Wasn't this the one afraid of death threats?

I wonder if Travis' family will be on some kind of admonition to not speak of this "mystery witness". AZLawyer?

Supposedly and she was supposedly also being "stalked" yet chose to waltz in to the most media populated restaurant/hotel in the entire Phoenix area during the short week she was being "stalked". Her "death threat" was someone tweeting they hoped she choked on a chicken bone.

I think that about sums it up. ;)

Has anyone said that the reason for the boot was because the witness "fears for their life"? Is this something that was said specifically?

The one reason I am thinking it is her, or someone like her who a previous witness, is I don't see how anyone else can claim they are in "fear for their lives" unless they've already received an allegedly death threat. Just saying you've heard that witnesses received threats shouldn't be enough to prevent you from testifying.

They wouldn't specifically request to remove the Arias family for her. And Alice would be stupid to go back for more of what Juan gave her.
If not Jodi, I'm leaning towards one of her family members.

I heart you.

I don't think so. I said earlier that she self-imploded in front of all of us with her nonsense after her first day of testimony in the trial. Her answers to Juan's cross were truly strange. We here had her number early on and I have a feeling the original jury did as well.

I would give it, in deference to your far superior knowledge of the trial, that she may have been convinced to give it a second try.

Quien sabe?

Wasn't it Darryl brewer who has a son Jodi allegedly helped care for at one point in time? Could it be him if it is indeed a child witness?

Maybe I'm naive, but I can't imagine that any father would ask his child to go to a court of law and lie to save a murderer's life.

Are we even sure that was raised as a reason for the request?

Yes, I'm sure they will. :( JM will probably tell them to take it really, really seriously to avoid a mistrial.

Speaking of JM, I would sure like to know if he objected to this "close the courtroom" motion.

I thought that was the reason, but I don't know that it's official. I don't think the court has given ANY reason why the courtroom was cleared. I think the basis for assuming this is the reason is because back in August (I think), Nurmi was saying that he promised witnesses their testimony wouldn't be televised.

This makes sense to me. I don't think it is family. I think it is someone afraid of being identified as supporting her. Someone not family. ALV is so taken with the CM that it sickens me. I can not believe anyone could buy her fluff.

I wonder if it's Patti, Matt or Daryl.

I agree just offering a possibility if it was indeed a child witness

A
My concern, is the weight the jury will give to this secret witness. To have their testimony be in secret, clear a courtroom, IMO will give more weight to whatever they might spew. They are being given special treatment and this won't go unnoticed by the jury. IMO-they will take their garbage as factual because of the closed door. Even if they don't believe the witness 100%, the preferential treatment they are being shown won't go unnoticed by the jury. These antics, and the judge allowing this, are a huge blow to our justice system. JMO

What, the witness is going to testify in closed proceeding? OMG. This is getting absurd! It's nt that Patricia girl from last time! (The one who never testified but caused big drama)

I don't think mystery witnesses should be allowed. If they are not willing to be open with what they have to say they should not be allowed in. It is not like someone testifying AGAINST a murder and if fear of their life. This is someone already convicted who is trying to punch up her bull with more drama.

Yes and that child also has a mother.

I don't think anyone specifically requested to remove the Arias family. I think that was a misinterpretation of a tweet.

I thought that was the reason, but I don't know that it's official. I don't think the court has given ANY reason why the courtroom was cleared. I think the basis for assuming this is the reason is because back in August (I think), Nurmi was saying that he promised witnesses their testimony wouldn't be televised.

But the judge already ruled on that motion. IMO this is something new.
