Sociopaths do not feel empathy either.

There is dissension in the medical community about whether or not they're just using different terms to describe the same thing. Some even say the term psychopath is obsolete now. Based on what I've read, there's little distinction between a psychopath and a sociopath. It's just semantics and minor variations in how the person behaves, how sociable they are, etc. But I think that's more about the individual. No two sociopaths are alike.

I gather the terms are interchangeable, depending on what expert is explaining the term/traits, but I will call this killer a psychopath, I like the sound of it, lol.

I think a trait that stands out and clearly a distinction between them is 'empathy' a sociopath is capable of feelings and a psychopath is not, and my belief is this killer is devoid of feelings.

I agree...she is devoid of feelings and that blase kind of mona lisa smile (apologies to mona lisa) in response to EVERYTHING is what allows her rage and violence to sneak up undetected...and the extreme amount of manipulation/calculation/plotting/carrying it out. I'm scaring myself right now. She is some kind of Freak of Nature.
That's the Dr. katiecoolady diagnosis.

She is likely the full on buffet of the Axis 2 Disorders. What's terrifying is her rage is SO hidden and she displays as SO bland and "nice" (sorry I nauseated myself writing that). She shows so little emotion in any direction but clearly has this intense RAGE that slashes tires and people. It's terrifying. Combined with the sophisticated calculating. She's truly the most terrifying killer, beyond a really psycho serial killer like Bundy, that I've ever encountered, even in a book. She's far more terrifying to me, than the men who killed my sister.

Totally agree, surreal.

Even people of advanced age have the ability to reason. Not all of them, of course. But then, not all young people have it. Unless they are prudes they will figure this out...and being a prude is not about age. I have seen posts online that indicate a closed mind, only to find out the poster is relatively young. I am not too worried about older jurors getting it wrong. At least, not any more worried than I am about any other juror getting it wrong.

Could just as well argue that the older juror will see Jodi as a XXXX- (starts with S ends with T) and the "she asked for it" mentality that was more prevalent in the day. Just saying, age doesn't matter, to me, as an indicator of what a juror might believe.

It is my belief the pedo story/lie came from the death of Dan Freeman's bro, he killed himself the day JA was arrested. I read about it online. He was sexually abused as a child and was afraid he might hurt a child. JA was very close with the Freeman family. I firmly believe this is where she got the idea to make up the lie about Travis. I tried to figure out where the lie came from and after reading about him it made sense. It might still be online. This is my opinion of what happened.

Yep Meemaw you are right. Plus with JA in jail with other inmates, she KNOWS from "talk" that the one thing that even convicts will not tolerate are pedophiles. Travis is not here to defend himself about this blatant EVIL LIE. She is a lying psychopathic manipulating SHANK.. I hope she goes straight to Hell, the sooner the better.

Good morning!

The defense really had to dig deep to come up with this new “expert”. How can anyone--laymen, professional or expert--knowing the facts in this trial, agree to sit and regurgitate CMJA’s lies? This “expert” testified yesterday about prostitution--I wonder if she sees the irony in her testimony.

It’s scary to think that these defense “experts” are actually practicing in the mental health field. The fact that they sell themselves to the likes of KN and CMJA speaks volumes to me about their professional integrity and character. There is not enough money in China that would convince me to publicly put my professional reputation at risk for anyone, much less a convicted murderer with a long history of lying.

This defense team is about as sleazy as they come--I sure hope the Karma bus has enough seats for each and every one of them.

I do not remember the name of the person testifying right now, but can someone tell me when and for how long she talked or interviewed FJA? And did they 'meet' more then one time?

I understand that she never talked to anyone else, friends or foes to get their statements, is that right?

It's my understanding, but I could well be wrong, that most clinicians won't/don't dx someone as a psychopath because of definitions and testing methods. Strictly speaking there isn't a recognized mental health dx for psychopathy - other than on the sprectrum of antisocial personality disorder, pursuant to DSM V. So someone could be dx'd as antisocial, with psychopathic tendencies, but still would be considered antisocial as an official dx. IIRC, there's no mention of sociopathy at all in the DSM.

I'm still gobsmacked she wasn't dx'd comorbid BPD/NPD/APD though - she shows a lot of signs of comorbidity.

JMO and FWIW

IIRC, DeMarte was prevented from elaborating on her findings. She only got as far as the BPD. There's no doubt in my mind there were other diagnoses as well.
