thank you.....I agree re media choppers! Coming from a part of the globe where our SAR fights much more adverse conditions...have been sitting on my hands and thank goodness there's no microphone to record my ''opinions'' KWIM

Oh me too ... I am sooooo sitting on my hands. :gaah:
I just don't understand what is happening, and I wish there was some experience in there leading the program. When I think of all the refugees that our guys rescue in sinking boats coming from Indonesia - in seas that can be equally as wild, same wet season - and they sit back and let us do it because they 'don't have the resources'.

truthfully this feels a lot like going out to dinner with a gang of people and the ones who order the most expensive of everything suddenly vanish when the bill comes around KWIM?

want the goodies ((the $$ in this case)) but won't show up for the reckoning MOO

seems a bit limp wristed in attempts to me MHO

Thank goodness for the USS Sampson, it seems to be bringing in quite a few people from the sea.

US navy ship USS Sampson had brought three more back to the Indonesian town of Pangkalan Bun.

Nearly 30 ships are now involved in the search operation, as well as six planes and 14 helicopters.

well it's past 7 p.m. local time Indonesia....I do hope that they will use the early hours and get to the site tomorrow....water temperature is favorable around 37C....((that's what bothers me the most.....if there were survivors they could have made it)) .... I don't even want to think about the ocean predators....and that I believe must be troubling the families awaiting SAR recovery.

just a reminder on how many vessels are involved:

"There were 20 aircraft and 27 ships deployed in total on Sunday combing the waters for the victims and wreckage, the agency said.''

it was the Singapore navy vessel that pulled in the life raft

As you pointed out, there was a lot accomplished by the US Navy

Seeing these images this morning of the life raft and the vest. . . I cannot believe how one would assume 25k ample compensation for what peoples friends and love ones could have possibly gone through.
That the company waited 2 hours to confirm the flight was missing, to putting a search team out days later, really makes me sad. Those 2 hours. . .
I will never board a plane in this region, ever.

I do believe the 25k is an initial payment to cover expenses that are immediate for the Family's. Yes it best be much, much more down the pike. We have been planning a trip to Thailand. From there flying to a few surrounding destinations. For the first time ever I am reconsidering. Spent hours researching Asia. Guess I should have been researching Airlines within. I will be most interested to read the final outcome of this tragedy.

That's what I read; $25k is the 1st payment to help families.
I'm sort of thankful I do not have time to keep up with this disaster because the times I do get to come here are really horrifying. It appears some airlines learned nothing with MH370. I do understand the weather has been extremely horrible & has played a factor; but I pray that no one suffered. Saying prayers today for all involved in this tragedy.

Once again, thank you to all that have air experience.

So while we wait. Worst flight. Mine is vivid LOL well 2 kinda.

My worst and first ever flight 25 years ago when I was 5 the plane started taxiing from the gate and the wing hit a mobile stair case. Fuel started leaking from the wing and fire engines then roared towards the plane and sprayed it with white foam. We then had to leave the plane urgently. I was excited because I loved fire engines.

We couldn't get another flight for a couple of days so we lost a bit of my first holiday. On the next flight the pilot brought me and my dad up to the cockpit and I was fascinated with all the buttons it was very interesting.

Thanks for all your updates I am glad some progress is being made in recovering those who have died and the wreckage of the plane. I hope they find as many of the victims as possible. Thankfully it is not another MH370 situation.

If I may, what are they are trying to repair in the hospital?

Hi Cariis sorry for the late reply I am just working my way back through the thread. I had a slipped disc 2006 age 22 and was operated on by a terrible negligent surgeon he damaged my nerve and left me in agony in my back, legs and feet. I didn't even need the operation and I was just one of his victims. The nerve deals with the bladder and bowel so they don't work properly. I have had 11 surgeries since 2006 to try and manage the damage caused. This time my bowel is blocked so they are trying to unblock it and prevent it from happening again. I might need a 12th op soon for my bowel. It's been a nightmare I'm in constant pain and cannot work. I apologise to you all if my posts don't make sense sometimes I am on a lot of medication. Thanks again for all your best wishes.

Good pictures of the raft before it is brought in or as it's brought in. Other pictures we haven't seen. It does say the raft was inflated.

I send my best wishes to you Tssiemer I know how devastating and frustrating it can be to go through surgeries that don't work out.

Thanks Bravo for your kind post. I get down sometimes about my situation but tragedies like this one and the cases here make me realise I am lucky despite what has happened to me.

Since we have a lull and I did ask the question (worst flight) I guess it's my turn. One was when we hit the wind sheer (if that's what it is called when the plane drops) Our youngest hollered out "cool" Everyone else seemed to freeze. My Husband grabbed my hand with a death grip and looked at me like pleading for an answer. I was calm. I did reply "I got nothing" Luckily we were close to our destination and carts were secure and everyone was in their seats. One of the Stewards did get hurt but nothing fatal. My ultimate worst was flying many, many years ago with 2 other Gal Pals. Long before I was married. There were 3 guys behind us around the same age who took advantage of the booze cart Mach 90. They were trashed 2 hours into the flight. Kept trying to engage convo and none of us were interested. One of them stood up hung over our seats and began singing "your so beautiful" and proceeded to puke all over me. Ya just happened he had the middle seat and so did I. My head, my clothes and we still had 7 hours of flight time ahead. Flight attendants helped me clean up as best they could. Good times. Good times! LOL
