So the picture that MSM have recently claimed is a life raft is actually the emergency slide that was found a week ago? Or are there two separate slides that were found? :scared:

I'm confused too.

And if it is a life raft, why is it not a bright colour? Do you know, emirates?

How are they supposed to easily spot a white/grey raft in water? :waitasec:

(Just to elaborate, and you may not know, what I mean is why are the slides white/grey? If they can be also used as a life raft.)

4.35PM: The three bodies recovered this morning brings the total tally to 37, says BASARNAS chief Bambang Soelistyo. The bodies were retrieved near where most of the plane parts were discovered, and more aircraft debris, including seats, has also been found.

Weather conditions are relatively better today, but those in the search area are still facing strong currents of between 2 to 4 knots. Divers are on standby, and heavy equipment will be deployed to lift wreckage should “all efforts fail”, he said.

(Haven't all efforts failed so far? The weather is not getting any better this week. :waitasec: )

Should all efforts fail?? What does that even mean, have they been trying to lift wreckage with thier hands?

To be honest I really don't know. Maybe the ELT/Black Box are to be the heroes of the day. I'm surprised the raft/slide are not fluorescent. These are my thoughts only and will endeavour to follow up tomorrow.

interesting update on compensation:

Many families rejecting offer

''3.45pm: One of the family members of the deceased passengers, Franky Chandra, says that a majority of families of the deceased have refused the compensation of Indonesian rupiah 300 million (about RM85,000) offered by AirAsia, reports detik.com.

Franky is the brother of Gani Chandra, one of the missing passengers.

AirAsia and families of the passengers have met a few times in Surabaya since the plane went missing.

Franky is not sure if this part of the insurance payout but says the terms and conditions of the compensation are not very accurate.

He also says that there may be some families who may have accepted.'

At this link they are calling it a 'mangled' seat. I guess that could be from break up at impact. :(

4.25PM: A mangled passenger seat has been recovered during the search, and transported to Pangkalan Bun.

As previously mentioned I am no expert. That does not seem like a mangled seat .. given one arm rest intact the seat itself appears swollen after being submerged for several days.

The USS Sampson, a destroyer with advanced SONAR and listening devices, is not working the crash site. Instead, the high-tech tool was sent north, to the floating debris field.

That doesn't make much sense to me. I would think that should be the kind of ship used for the crash site. I think if the other debris is floating that could get picked up by ships that don't have as much"going on" for them, know what i mean? Maybe I'm being to critical

totally!!I agree!

the fishing boats could drop nets and scoop up the floating debris ...... the US Navy capability to pick up the pings is invaluable and should be utilized ! moo

That doesn't look mangled to me either, ive seen plenty of plane crash wreckage pictures, and that looks fairly intact, except for what I'm guessing is the bottom part, where your butt sits ( and well of course it not being attached to the plane anymore) That's the bottom part of the seat missing right? Is that the part that floats? (Never been near a plane lol)
