According to our Engineers the tail fin, horizontal stabilisers are part one piece. Whilst I can only go by their opinion they would consider the black box to still be bolted and in place. Let's hope so.

Yes, I reckon they are probably there too (in my very amateur, know-nothing capacity :) ). They would be very secure, I would think. The whole point of them is to be there if a plane crashes.

RSBM: Yes, remember all the pings from MH370, and none were the black boxes? Then we discovered the multitude of things that ping underwater - fishing net buoys, research equipment, etc - and the different and similar frequencies of the pings.

omg! you have got to be kiddin' -- myopia to a whole new level.....dial-a-tug with a crane? or

freight helicopter???

:lol: Now, now .. let's not get too excited. 50% of an operation per day here. Can't rush things. No point in being prepared. Better to just let the tail bob around in the current while you go get the crane and more balloons. :scared:

time for those brainstormers to regroup and storm some more ...... put on shopping list: barge, tug with crane, freight choppers,......

I ''suspect'' that one of the visiting naval vessels (either Singapore, Korea or USA) would have a pretty heavy duty crane that the Indonesians could utilize IF they would request.

bbm: seems they have a crane according to this .... perhaps there is a matter of clear deck space .... but there are so many capable vessels available -- they ''could'' ask for help

What was floated to the surface was the tail-fin or vertical stabilizer. The CVR and FDR are not located in this part of the aircraft. The CVR and FDR are located in the *tail section* (empennage) just aft of the aft galley. This part of the aircraft has been located as seen in this video (divers entering the aft service doors) so I expect that the CVR and FDR should be recovered soon and should be in good condition.

The Engineers' are fantastic, quite a down to earth bunch and more than happy to answer anything we can throw at them.

Channel NewsAsia's Jackson Board reports that the plane tail is about 10m long, and a decision about whether to bring the tail back to port in one piece of cut it up has yet to be made.

Lead investigator Nurcayho said that once the tail is fully salvaged, it will be checked for the black box then brought by ship to Kumai Port for analysis. However, he thinks it is unlikely the black box is still in the tail.

humm humm, where are those things that look a lot computers? actually on a320 they are not right next each other dont want to get to woken up! i will try and find out more after a doozie

my doggie is 23 and old and had a hard time getting up so i woke up and gave her a hand! Most of the time she is like i will take care of this myself !

Sure thing…not back at work until Monday. One of our staff members is dating an A320 skipper….will send her a message now, and see if I can get a quicker answer.

That was my very first thought. Maybe they took them to cash convertors and traded them in for braid and bobbles. Sorry I'm being nasty.

Talking about doggies….watching Cesar Milan at the moment……the oldest dog I met was 19. WOW 23 what sort is she?
