Joann Dorgan allegedly punched Dorgan in the face and said, "I want you to hit me so I can have you arrested."

Dorgan reported the incident to police and they filed an assault charge against the 70-year-old woman.

A couple of weeks later, Dorgan's father-in-law, Gerald Dorgan, was accused of telling Dorgan to drop those charges or "he would hire an Asian gang to kill him."

A family member of Robert Dorgan, the suspected shooter at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, told NBC 10 News on Tuesday that he had six children and that it wasn’t surprising or alarming for him to show up at his son's hockey games.

Dorgan’s daughter, Amanda, told NBC 10's Molly Levine that her father struggled with mental health his entire adulthood, adding: "I think his gender-identity issues are a symptom of a deeper issue."

"He was ostracized from the family because he had a long history of violence and abuse," she said. "Anyone who knows him is probably not incredibly surprised, unfortunately, but when somebody doesn't want to get help, they won't."

Meanwhile, Raymond C. Dorgan, fathered Gerald L. Dorgan, who, with his wife, Linda Dorgan, are in critical condition after the shooting. Their daughter was Rhonda Lee Dorgan, who married and then divorced the shooter.
