I resized the second photo.

Note the pink circle around his right hand; he is not wearing a glove.

Secondly, the front of his jacket is blue and has green across the front.

Off to check jackets!

On my screen the jacket is black with that olive green from the chest down. I think the blue material at the bottom is a shirt. Mask up high and hat down low. This has to be him. IMO

Does he have a beard? There is a black area below his mask and a bit on the sides.
I really think it's a beard I see. If he shaves it off, especially if LE states he is bearded at some point, someone who knows him will notice.

Officials face pushback over photo release timing

From CNN's Zoe Sottile
At Monday’s afternoon news conference, several journalists asked officials about the timing of the release of photos the FBI says show the suspect in Saturday’s deadly shooting at Brown University.

The photos were released Monday, two days after a gunman opened fire in the Ivy League school’s engineering building, killing two students and injuring nine others.

“It takes time,” Providence police chief Oscar L. Perez Jr. said. “Investigations are very complex, and when you’re doing canvassing areas or when you’re developing evidence, sometimes you get directed to another direction, and then that’s what makes you go back to certain areas and continue to investigate.”

Asked a pointed question about surveillance footage at Brown University, Providence Mayor Brett Smiley emphasized the hard work all agencies were putting into tracking down the suspect and their commitment to transparency.

“We continue to answer your questions,” he said during a tense moment. “We will continue to do so, but the best way to inform the public and to ask for their help is for these opportunities to not degrade into baseless accusations.”

With my aged eyes, having a tad difficulty……

Having said that it appears there may be a long dark blue or deep blue tee shirt under the zipped outerwear?

And down near the circled right hand, is that a white logo or some other marking on the front lower right portion of that blue tee shirt (or garment beneath the outerwear / coat? Or is that an item in the pants pocket protruding up over the front tail of the shirt? Or perhaps a tag or something hanging from the jacket, or the tee shirt? (Assuming the image has not been reversed). MOO

ETA…. Also it appears the individual’s eyes are perhaps rather narrow on center?

  • A press conference by Providence officials showed new videos and photos of an individual believed to be connected to the shooting. Police said a 9mm firearm was used. The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the case being solved.
  • On Sunday night, officials announced that they were releasing a person of interest that had been detained in connection with the shooting.
  • The Providence Police also said that since the first call to 911, they have “not received any specific threats to our community.”
  • One of the victims fatally shot has been identified as Ella Cook. She was identified as one of the victims during a church service at the Cathedral Church of the Advent in Birmingham, Alabama, where the Reverend said she attended.
  • Both Alabama Senators paid tribute to Cook, as did Martin Bertao, the president of the College Republicans of America, who said that Cook was the vice-president of the Brown College Republicans
  • Another victim was named as MuhammadAziz Umurzakov, from Uzbekistan. Umurzokov was identified by his family in a Gofundme page. They described him as “incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon and helping people. He continues to be my family’s biggest role model in all aspects.”
  • The US ambassador to Uzbekistan also paid tribute to Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, as did Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin and Virginia’s governor-elect Abigail Spanberger.
  • Brown University announced that it was temporarily delaying the release of admissions decisions for applicants who were meant to find out whether they had been admitted to the school on Monday.

Thank you for sharing that @Dotta …… and not at all directed at you……

But seems that admonition by the FBI is perhaps at odds with words from IIUC the town and mayor that there is no perceived threat (or words to that effect).

Seems IMO that all investigators and law enforcement officials and the FBI need to ‘get on the same page’. And rather quickly IMO. MOO

The new videos released today (12/15) appear to be in a wealthier neighborhood - lots of larger homes with iron or brick fencing, well-maintained low-traffic streets, ... Is this near the university? Does it tell us anything that he would be wandering around this area? He's looking around a bit, but not pausing for long.

I've replayed the video where they are saying where the new videos came from and I THINK he said Oak Street near Benevolent and Main or Mini. I have looked up Oak Street and it's 2.5 walking miles away. I also don't see any other streets in that area that look like it could be the other 2 he mentioned. Can anyone listen to see if you hear better? My laptop sound was awful, so I played it on my phone held to my ear and that is what I got. Start about 8:30 into the press conference for the spot to listen to.
I listened carefully to the press conference, and I believe that it was Hope street, not Oak Street, that was mentioned as the site of the new photographs. It looks like Hope Street to me, and that makes sense as a locale.

It's hard for me to tell, but could the top part of the jacket be a dark blue instead of black? Something like this:

This is the neighborhood around the university. Brown is actually located within this neighborhood, and some of its buildings are next to residential properties. It is a hilly, historic neighborhood, with mansions, large historic homes, and university properties.

I think the top of the jacket may be a navy blue or black, and the bottom may be a green instead of olive.. What we perceive may depend on our screens or monitors. There are Columbia and North Face jackets that look like this, and probably some other brands, too.

These statements do not engender trust in the authorities. The police did the same thing in Idaho after that heinous crime…long before they found BK. This infuriates me.
Hope LE is also keeping an eye on people reported missing in the area around now.
And anybody caught on video trying and failing to gain entry to nearby buildings.

Great point re: monitors. Yeah unfortunately this jacket is from a reseller site (one of the brands I saw come up was "Independent Trading Co") so, if this is the jacket, it will be really difficult to track off of that because there's so many retailers selling it : (
