RI - Mass Shooting at Brown University - Providence 13 Dec 2025

Who makes this?
The tag is hard to read.
This is the website I found it on. The brand is "Independent Trading Co." and the item number is AIND-1346-EXP54LWZ. Unfortunately, if you reverse Image search this jacket, it's on a lot of fly-by-night online retailers.

From the Providence Police Twitter site:

This video shows the passerby on the other side of the street more clearly.

Looks like he has green on the back of the sleeves of his jacket. I saw some Northface jackets with the same color pattern of his jacket but not the same colors.
The color's aren't the same but similar pattern.
I didn't realize their were so many brands of Men's jackets.
I don't have time to look more I have to go find my warm clothes.

Hmm, it could be the frame rate, it almost looks like his chest/upper stomach is moving independently of his body (put another way, it looks like something is jiggling under his jacket). Loosely fitted tactical vest?

Thank you for sharing that @Dotta …… and not at all directed at you……

But seems that admonition by the FBI is perhaps at odds with words from IIUC the town and mayor that there is no perceived threat (or words to that effect).

Seems IMO that all investigators and law enforcement officials and the FBI need to ‘get on the same page’. And rather quickly IMO. MOO
I am no expert, but I'd say there is a threat as long as this man is on the loose. If they don't know a motive, then they don't even know if it was targeted or part of a bigger plot with other locations being at risk. If there was a specific target, then who's to say this person isn't going to come for that person again? I'd say people need to live, but to say there is no threat it ridiculous. There was no known specific threat before this tragedy either and look what occurred.

These people lifted a lock down order as soon as they took the wrong person in custody and then had to back track so I think it's safe to say to cover their rears they are saying this about no threat.

IMO

Agree. And when he turns around, is that a glimpse of a pony tail, or is it just the hood of the jacket.

I've replayed the video where they are saying where the new videos came from and I THINK he said Oak Street near Benevolent and Main or Mini. I have looked up Oak Street and it's 2.5 walking miles away. I also don't see any other streets in that area that look like it could be the other 2 he mentioned. Can anyone listen to see if you hear better? My laptop sound was awful, so I played it on my phone held to my ear and that is what I got. Start about 8:30 into the press conference for the spot to listen to.
I believe the new video is at the corner of Benevolent and Cooke St, taken from the Aldrich house

That instant, I'm just innocently walking and hanging out as soon as he sees the other person across the street. Facing the person surprisingly. His stance when stopping is ..something. Is that the entrance perhaps that he wanted to enter to access Brown? I haven't seen that but. He didn't want to be seen going in but he acted odd for an 'innocent passerby. He seems not a regular and casual guy from 'here'. IMO

Yikes!

The way he is scoping out what’s going on around him, then spots the guy across the street and immediately affects a nonchalant stance.

He is very much trying hard to blend in, just another guy out for a stroll.

I hope when this clip is making the rounds, maybe the guy across the street will remember some little detail.

I actually doubt it though, due to the culprit affecting that just-a-guy pose. Likely the man across the street wouldn’t have any reason at the time to pay attention to him.

IMO.

Thank you! Going to look at the street view map now!

JMO - and with the caveat stated up front that they always get caught - this tubby waddler, if indeed the shooter, is no Luigi Mangione, but in terms of presenting an unremarkable image on camera, I see preparation and practice: choosing the time and place, devising the preferred route there and back, walking that route to and fro a few times, etc.

Just another shlub walking somewhere on a chilly day.

They always get caught, yes, but I think every iteration of these shooters continues to evolve with time and technology. There was the radar detector, and then came the radar detector detector.

You can't be alive and sentient in America now and not know cameras are everywhere, or could be everywhere. Some shooters want their atrocities caught on camera, some are so crazed they don't even think about it, and some few others know they must take cameras into account and plan accordingly.

This individual seems fully aware of cameras and maybe put some thought into how to navigate the presence of them. The fact that two days later no arrest has been made suggests that, for now, the plan was successful.

Not sure they anticipated having to stop, turn back and pretend to read that sign at the corner to avoid attracting any attention from the passerby across the street, but they did make the adjustment, though not convincingly.

He certainly doesn't have mannerisms of a 20 something year old. I'd say 30s to 40s is likely. It's a very odd way to walk there with his hands behind his back. Was he waiting for someone, looking for someone?

Another thing I noticed if these videos are all in the 2 o'clock hour then he paced around for that hour, but where was he between 3 and 4 when the shooting happened? Still pacing around? If he went back by these streets again, they likely have more video since we know cameras are at these locations. Did he walk other streets, or did he enter the building and wait?

Re: the new videos

1) gait difference more noticeable from front or back.
2) can't tell if that is his real (protruding) stomach or a disguise / bag with other clothes/equipment
3) FWIW CMT is a disease that includes symptoms of feet pronation/distinct gait and narrow/rounded shoulders
4) He seems almost performative / giddy to me in some clips
5) seems mid to late 30s at youngest
6) thankful they're sharing these new / better videos and photos

MOO

Number 2

Seems to be in a hurry.
He is swaying from side to side.
Gait is pronounced.

There is something distinctive about his gait, IMO. As a physical therapist, I’m looking at his right leg especially. His right knee has a valgus appearance (knock-kneed) which makes his right foot appear to be rotated out slightly (penguin-like). This seems to give him slightly off-kilter gait, or slight waddle. I wish I could slo-mo that second video!

Appears to me that he was walking purposefully, glancing around, then when he saw the pedestrian he slowed and took on a more "innocent" pose. Looked very overdone and fake.

This CBSNews tweet zooms in on the 'fake innocent pose' and right before he turns it appears he adjusts his stomach. I think that's not his actual stomach. It also looks slightly pointed. MOO

I put together a chronological map with locations and times of videos that have been released so far.

Edit: I misinterpreted the location of one of the videos. That's now been corrected.

I am curious where this still photo came from and if there is video, why we can't see that video. Also, why is the photo cut off like it is?
