RI - Mass Shooting at Brown University - Providence 13 Dec 2025

I don't think he is actually overweight. The belly looks like one of those pregnancy bellies for actors.

There's something about his movements that don't match with a real belly that big.
No, I agree. It looks to me more like the hard belly you see on middle aged men with a fair amount of visceral fat, especially around the liver. From what I have observed:

* Heavily pregnant women have a hard domed belly that involves the entire abdomen.
* Overweight middle aged men have a domed belly in the upper abdomen.
* Both sexes with advanced liver disease have a hard domed belly in the lower half of the abdomen (ascites).

Obviously this is different from the soft subcutaneous fat you see in the simply obese.

User on Reddit who claims to have seen the POI and their car:

So this person on reddit is claiming to have seen a grey Nissan parked in front of the little shack at the RIHS, but on CCTV I can't see anything matching that? Am I missing something? Is he saying it was parked directly in front of the little shack or on the road between the shack and the end of the road?

I'm dipping in and out of this thread so may have missed this point, but if the gunman had a beard part of the purpose of the mask could have been to hide the fact and also make it less likely for a beard hair to have been left at the scene.

If a beard (or head) hair was left, that could be the source of the DNA they have.
OK, I see that the DNA is from fingerprints on a bullet casing.

The sources of the composite pictures are obviously the law enforcement videos

Birds of a feather flock together
  • Beings such as humans of similar type, interest or ideology, personality, character or religion, or other distinctive attributes including political affiliation tend to associate
  • Hence, "proximity" could mean closeness in time or space or influence or alliance or blood etc
  • To the left the Person of Interest (POI) and to the right the Person in Proximity (PIP) do have similarities such as 1) dark clothing, 2) head cover, 3) sling satchel, 4) overcoat type on top etc, but these similarities could be just mediated by the weather
  • The “proximity” label informs that POI could rather be younger (potentially mid 20s) than PIP (potentially mid 40s) such that their purported “relationship” could be parental, strong enough for one to chase after the other
  • POI was first seen on videos at 10:30 am, then at 2:00 pm, which imply some premeditation, scooting, knowledge of the environment etc such that POI could potentially have some “relation” or “proximity” with … the university!
The injection of one PIP is problematic, and raises questions because it could imply that there are potentially multiple persons in proximity
  • Does PIP ran after POI (as implied by one of the videos) to prevent them from acting on their “distinctive attributes” of evil doers such as murderous ideology or religion?
  • What is the legal implication of being a “Person in Proximity” when the authorities not only ask PIP to contact them but also ask the public to identify and report (manhunt) who PIP is?
  • Are the officials and officers in the press conference liberally speaking with unified voices after briefing such that they could “know” that this school mass shooting resulting in murders is not politically motivated?
  • How do they know it is not politically motivated without knowing who POI is? Or, do they hint that rather than driven by politics the motivation could be driven by ideology or religion?
  • Do the officials and officers know more than what they share?

Didn't think to wear gloves when loading the bullets into his magazine, then. It's the little mistakes like that that lead to murders getting caught.

I’d say crocks are very popular on the West coast as the weather is milder here. But not on the East coast as the ground is colder in winter.
I were crocks every day. Rain , snow or sleet moo

Does no information = no immediate threat?
Apparently it does in Providence.

It's astonishing that they're telling people it's safe when they have no idea who did this or why.

What they should be saying is something like "We have no information that a threat is imminent, but please make sure to be aware of your surroundings at all times, as you should be doing all the time."

My guess is that it was on the north side of the driveway there. That portion of the road is not visible on the camera you posted nor the camera that showed the “chase” or whatever one wants to call it.

I've been thinking the same since the first photo, and particularly the first videos came out. Maybe not a prosthetic belly, but I think he's wearing a loose vest and/or carrying equipment under his coat/windbreaker. It could be the frame rate, but it looks like his 'stomach' and 'chest' sways/jostles unnaturally when he walks, like it's not really connected to his torso.

I "walked" the area on google street view and at least in the images google has for that area it shows 3 cars parked between that corner and the start of the entrance to that yard area (beside the shed). So, there is definitely space for a few cars there and it does appear the cars would be totally hidden from that camera angle we see where person 2 is photographed and where we see the suspect run and person 2 to run.

It seems like that if a gunman is not randomly shooting people whilst moving from place to place, then it is assumed to be a once only targeted attack where the perpetrators leave and go back into hiding. That is probably why there was no imminent danger in this case which is what happened.

I agree with you about the possibility that he could have been wearing a face mask.
It might be a bit far fetched, but it also went through my mind to wonder whether he might have been wearing a fat suit to disguise his figure.
I would normally think that is a bit crazy, but the killer of the politicians in Minnesota wore a realisitic mask. But, that was at night. The Brown University killer walked around in daylight. Maybe he avoided people enough they wouldn't notice?

I remain on the fence for everything so far in this case, tbh.

I would say that targeting specific people is less likely.

The review class was optional, so it would be difficult to know if a specific student target was going to be there. Likewise, it was being taught by a teaching assistant and not a professor.

This would reduce the possibility of a specific professor being the target. My guess is that full professors at elite universities are not given to presenting two hours long, formal review sessions. That is what graduate students are for- right? If so, a perpetrator familiar with universities would know that a specific professor giving the review would be unlikely.

Though the target could have been specific teaching assistant, assignments like teaching a certain review class could rotate between several teaching assistants. The name of the instructor may not of been posted. Rather, the schedule could have just stated something like: Review for final Economics 200 / Hobbes' Leviathan. Instructor: To be assigned.
I hear ya, but the suspect walked around for a long time before the study session. It's possible he did indeed know if a targeted person attended the session because he saw the person enter.

FWIW, I don't hold any theory strongly, especially now that there might be a second suspect.

His willingness to suddenly run also makes me think he's not actually that much overweight. I think something is under the jacket to disguise the actual body shape.

Am I the only person that keeps bouncing back and forth between random and targeted? Currently, I'm at targeted. The odd behavior and appearance of the 2 POI's keeps leading me there. I keep wondering honor killing? Vendetta? Something on that order. It seems like it was set up to look random, but there was a specific target in mind. Tomorrow I will be back to random, lol.

All moo.

I'm having a good feeling about today ya'll. May today be the day they catch the evildoer(s) in this case.

I'm sending prayers and positive energy to every LEO working this case, to the detectives and investigators who are following down leads and to every student and community member of Providence who are living in limbo as this person or people are on the loose. I have no doubt that those working on the ground are putting all they have into investigating and tracking down leads. Maybe those responsible be taken into custody without incident so they can face justice. Please let today be the day.

If this person or people don't live in the area, then one thing timing wise is if the suspect is first seen on camera in the area about 1030, then it's possible he was checked into a hotel in the area and checkout time is usually 10am so maybe the reason for being there so early is because he literally had nowhere else to go. That would work if this was targeted for that class and time. Might be a good idea to ask area hotels who might have checked out that morning.

Also, if that car from Reddit is possibly in question, hotels sometimes take down plates for cars that will be parked in the parking lot.

What we can see of this individual's eyes has bothered me right from the first pic. IMO, they seem very tiny and too small and narrow set in relation to the size of his face and general body structure. I wondered if he was possibly wearing a face mask in addition to the usual black Covid type mask .
Also noticed the very small eyes. I haven’t known what to think about it. I’m hoping we’ll know more soon, and that the Redditor’s tip wasn’t the only one. Feeling more hopeful today!
