The time to get over the grudge was YEARS AGO. To act on something after so much time is beyond bitter. Literally a waste of life.

some people are incredibly sensitive. i wouldn't be surprised if his grudge against loureiro was that he said a mean thing to him once.

This is surprising to me. I did not think they were the same person at all. Which throws my super suspicious looking person out the window. He was just suspicious to someone who had a great read and knew who belonged where at what time.
Same. And the Redditor specifically denied being the second person whose photographs were released. A bit of a mystery.

Paxson is so frustrating to listen to. The refusal to provide a straight answer about the cameras is one thing, but "These are very old records"... what a terrible excuse. As someone who worked in higher education, I'd be very, very surprised if academic and disciplinary records from 2000-2001 weren't easily accessible.

It does appear that Valenti was dismissed from his position as a 'monitor' (I believe it's a RA-like position?) in 2000. I wonder if it had anything to do with Loureiro, or just garden variety jealously over his success.

Why did they say they hope he gets some of the reward money then? If they are the same person, wouldn’t they get the full reward?
I believe distributing reward money, and who gets what amount of reward money, is a formal process and isn't something that can be decided by one person. And it has to meet specific requirements in order to be doled out.

For example, during the Luigi Mangione case, the Mcdonalds Worker who called him in didn't get any of the $10,000 reward money offered by the NYPD because he called 911, NOT the tipline, to report the tip.

So he rented the car in Boston, and LE was hoping he would return it to that same location. He didn't.

Or got an A on an exam where CV got a B, or came in first in a tournament, or something equally ridiculous that even a hgih school student would have gotten over in a week (without blaming anyone else).

I hope he gets the full 50!!!

Person who was seen in surveillance video confronted suspect, officials say

From CNN's Taylor Romine

The person who was seen in one of the surveillance videos released by authorities had confronted the suspect earlier in the day, officials said.

The person had observed the suspect earlier in the day, Providence Police Chief Oscar L. Perez, Jr. said. Once the person confronted the suspect and started talking to him, the suspect asked why the person was harassing him and ran, Perez said.

Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha added later that the person had an interaction with the suspect in the Barus & Holley engineering and physics building bathroom. The person followed him out because he didn’t belong there, Neronha said the person told police.

It isn’t clear what exactly the suspect said to the person, according to Neronha. Some witnesses reported nothing said while some others said the suspect barked, but it’s unclear what happened, he said.

Law enforcement visited Brown suspect's last known residence in Miami to ask questions

From CNN's Emma Tucker

Local and federal law enforcement agencies went to the last known address for the Brown University shooting suspect, which records indicated was a Miami residence in 2001, to ask questions, said Providence Police Chief Oscar L. Perez Jr.

Officers went to the residence to talk to “individual staff” to see if they had any connections or associations with the suspect, the chief said at a news conference tonight.

Holding a grudge and waiting to act for this long seems strange though if it has anything to do with that
Do you remember (Dr.) Anthony Garcia revenge murders? He was convinced his failings as a doctor were the fault of the doctors who oversaw his residency. He made a list and systematically killed them. Neves was probably a failure in life and instead of taking responsibility blames others who have succeeded.

Person #2 is the Redditor!
Yes, affidavit confirms homeless man and Redditor are one and the same person, which I hope means he'll get that reward.

Interesting things I got from a skim of the affidavit.,

  • Looks like he scouted the engineering building previously. A janitor thinks he saw him there on November 28 and December 1st. They checked video and think he was there on December 1st. The janitor noted that he entered a bathroom opposite room 166 on one of those days.
  • Person #2/the redditor encountered him the day of the shooting in a ground floor bathroom of the engineering building (the same bathroom?). He looked so out of place that he then waited for the man at the entrance to the building and followed him as he walked around the neighborhood.
  • He saw the man go up to his car and have the strange reaction he described in his reddit post. When he looked in the car he saw a couple of fanny packs (explains the bag being present in some surveillance video and not others). Eventually he confronted the man and asked why he was walking around the neighborhood instead of getting in his car. The guy eventually ran from him and he chased him. That explains the 1416 video.

IIRC the Brown President stated he only took physics courses at Brown so highly unlikely he would have ever crossed paths with the economics professor.
besides, physicists look down on all other sciences, especially social sciences ;)

He did deny it, but to be fair, Reddit is one of the only places I do value my anonymity. You expect to and are expected to be anonymous on Reddit, I get why he denied it, matching his picture and name to his Reddit account could be detrimental to him, I didn’t snoop because I value his privacy but I’m sure a ton of people did. MOO

I say that as someone who was adamant and defended on this forum it was two different people!

Person #2 is amazing. What an unexpected part of this case. His role would be considered too corny for a movie or book!

Gunman and the MIT professor who was killed attended same academic programme

Officials in Boston are now holding a second news conference.

They confirm that both the gunman and the MIT professor who was killed in his home attended the same academic programme in Portugal 1995 and 2000.

He was a resident of Florida, after obtaining permanent US residency in September 2017.

maybe that's why it felt like they knew each other in that video. they had just been interacting, and person 2 had been following him to figure out what was up.
