Robert Brooks, prisoner, suffered fatal beating by several correctional officers.

"Robert Brooks should be alive today," Hochul said in a statement. "The brutal attack on Mr. Brooks was sickening, and I immediately moved to terminate the employment of those involved. Now, the perpetrators have been rightfully charged with murder and State Police are making arrests."

After some of the corrections officers were released on bond, one man said, “This is not justice judge — These people killed a Black man,” as he left the courtroom. One woman was removed after shouting “murder, murder."

And they are all out on low bail. One person no bail as destroying evidence is not a crime eligible for bail.

A watchdog group reported "rampant abuse by staff" after interviewing people incarcerated there in October 2022. The Correctional Association of New York said it was told of physical assaults in locations without cameras, such as between the gates, in vans and in showers. A guard told one new arrival this was a "'hands-on facility,' we're going to put hands on you if we don't like what you're doing," the report said

Finally

I'm watching them appear in court, each one showing up and getting bail. Unbelievable. After all they did ON VIDEO, and getting charged with murder and manslaughter.
They are each pleading not guilty and getting bail, so they get to walk out the door for 2500.00 ( some for 1000.00 ) I wonder how many of them will show up for their next court date?

NY AG

“This incident is a sobering reminder of the challenges facing our correctional system. I’ve worked with Commissioner Martuscello on safety reforms, including installing new security cameras, strengthening the Office of Special Investigations and increasing compensation for our hard-working correction officers," Hochul added

“Nothing can bring him back to us,” Robert Brooks Jr., 27, said in a statement. “Nothing can return to us what these men have taken away. Still, these indictments are a necessary and important step toward accountability. These men killed my father, on camera. All the world could see what happened.”

Officer Galliher Full video 5:02 in (21:21:55)
Is Anyone willing to look at Officer Galliher’s Full Video, it is the 8th video in the link below. Specifically I would be interested in what someone else might see from the 5 min mark in @21:21:27 on body cam. See if you notice anything while paying close attention to the open van door as the officer wearing this body cam approaches.

I think this is the guy that picked the package up off the ground when they first arrived with brooks?
