IIRC the marriage did not change testimony since the 'crime' occurred before they were married, so marriage affords no protection. However, it does allow Ron to distance himself better given recent events and the fan that may soon get hit.......

There is no spousal privilege in Florida in cases where children have been abducted or killed (I am not sure how far the loss of privilege goes.) In any case, Ron and Misty both could have been required to testify if either had been arrested and tried. Ron has always been able to testify against Misty, married or not.

TJ Hart: Ronald Cummings, the father of a missing 6-year-old Satsuma girl is apparently heading for a divorce from his wife and his child's stepmother, Misty Croslin-Cummings.

According to Ronald Cummings' family law attorney, no paperwork has been filed, but the marriage will not last much longer.

Cummings, and 17-year-old Misty were married a few weeks after Ronald's daughter Haleigh Cummings disappeared from his home in Satsuma. Misty was the last person to see Haleigh.

That Haleigh no longer wants the marriage or that Misty is no longer an enemy that he needs to keep close? Are they friends or enemies and did Haleigh want the marriage or the divorce or are they just having trouble figuring out what Haleigh's specific wishes regarding their relationship are and so they're covering all the bases?

Seriously, I am getting sorry that I ever started following this case. All I can truly believe is that someone should have rescued Haleigh and Junior from these nutjobs a long time ago.

So now they blame it all on Misty. She's established herself as a liar after covering all these months so now the story is Ron and Mom just figured out she is bad, bad, bad, even though she was model mother material when they hardly knew her but allowed her to live with and care for the children 24/7 and no one will believe what she says now because she is a liar. These people have been manipulating the system all their life. Misty is no match and her lawyer sounds none too bright either. No child deserves these people and their games.

No one needs to "pull out" the woman scorned tactic- All that is needed is to pull out what LE has said in their own statements- Misty can not be believed, Misty is the one telling inconsistencies.

The ordeal has already cost him so much, including friends, Cummings said.

I dunno... If she suddenly changed her story and told who did what to Haleigh and why she lied before and was able to keep to the new story reasonably well she'd still have a chance to be believed. Lots of people lie to LE and are inconsistent and they are believed when they finally confess all.

I think ~ This is just a pre-emptive move on Ron's part. Misty left him because she was seriously afraid he was going to kill her. He managed to coax her back the first time; now he knows she'll never return and he's scared to death of what she'll say.

If Misty has anything more to say, she'll tell it now. But it will just be her word against his. She may be able to tell LE something that will allow them to arrest Ron. But even if he's charged, getting a conviction will be difficult.

Regarding the change of scenery for Misty, last night on NG, Ron's mom stated Misty was with a girl friend who was paying for everything, staying with her in Orlando. In just an instant, I thought, what if she is staying with Cindy & George!!!!!!! Misty seems like just the kind of girl they would take in. Now that Ron said he is filing, wonder who is gonna support Misty....oh yeah, probably the prison system.
