"Donald Trump has finally stopped pretending. After months, if not years, of flirtation with Vladimir Putin, the US is siding with Russia in its war with Ukraine.

At a time when Ukraine is fighting for survival, the US joined Russia, North Korea, Belarus and Israel to vote against a UN resolution to condemn the bloodshed in a double blow to both Europe and Ukraine."

Probably because it was BT: Before Trump. Back when the US acted like an ally, with 80 years of history of actively preventing war in Europe.
This article/report about the recovery efforts, dated today, doesn't mention that President Trump has affected the recovery efforts. In fact he's not mentioned at all.

So it appears to me that these efforts are going forward. JMO.

The final version of the agreement, dated Feb. 24, establishes a fund to which Ukraine will contribute 50% of proceeds from the "future monetization" of state-owned mineral resources, including oil, gas, and related logistics. The fund will invest in projects within Ukraine.
The deal excludes resources that already contribute to Ukraine's state budget, meaning it will not cover operations by Naftogaz and Ukrnafta, the country's largest oil and gas producers.

I was being somewhat ironic in that BT = anytime before last week.

A report such as that would be a long time in the making. It wouldn't have been written over the weekend.

I think it's a baseless accusation. JMO.

Disgusting and deeply offensive. Can't wait for this to be over so the US can restore its good reputation among our allies and continue cooperation for sane, productive diplomacy.

I'm surprised at the positive progress, during active combat. They've done quite well. Moo

Yes, I think so. But when you think about, they still have to live - hence the rebuilding of homes. And they still need to get to work and move necessities along transport lines - hence the rebuilding of roads.

While there is a fairly distinct war zone, people away from the war zones are no doubt carrying on with their lives. Just as in Moscow, people seem somewhat removed from the war that is going on. (from what I have read)

A baseless accusation that everything about Ukraine has changed since Trump's recent intervention? I am following the European media and story after story is "everything has changed since last week".

PM Warns that 'Everything has Changed'

Trump blaming Ukraine for Putin’s war leaves Europe reeling

Worst-case scenario: Why Trump's push for negotiations has put Europe on total edge

How Europe must respond as Trump and Putin smash the post-war order

Support the guy, fine, but at least acknowledge the consequences of his words and actions.

"Rebuilding Ukraine After Russian Invasion

Will Cost 506 Billion Euros.

1740528847334.jpeg

The World Bank
has estimated the likely cost of rebuilding war-torn Ukraine.

Repairing the damage resulting from the Russian invasion could cost as much as €506 billion.

That would be three times Ukraine's GDP in 2024.

'This analysis clearly shows the scale of destruction in Ukraine for which Russia is responsible'
the World Bank said in a statement.
The document was published on Tuesday.

The most affected regions are the eastern regions of the country:
Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv,
and the agglomerations of Zaporozhye, Kherson, and Kyiv.

Rising reconstruction costs could get even higher.
Almost 13 percent of residential buildings were destroyed or damaged,
affecting more than 2.5 million households."

Oh yes he does! IF U.S. doesn't join the NATO troops. So - you don't care if he starts to invade the Baltic countries - especially where I live in Latvia?? Or Poland or - any of the "other" countries that were forced under Soviet rule back in 1945? I do!! After winning "our" freedom from Soviet rule - Aug. 21, 1991 - we have had freedom... I truly HOPE that does not change with trump's meddling. I shall have to flee to Sweden like my parents did back in 1944....
I think it's true that the US being part of NATO does provide a greater deterrent effect than the rest of the Nato countries minus the US.

Emmanuel Macron referred to the possibility of sending European troops to Ukraine, a deployment which, in his view, would make it possible to “verify that peace is being respected”.

There is general agreement that to guarantee a ceasefire it will be necessary to [have] European troops in Ukraine. UK, Germany and France are already willing to do that, but other member states of the European Union will contribute as well,"

They are building an underground school in Kiev. It will protect the children against bombs and radiation.
They are actually going to build 3 of them.

As we were assured by the Dniprovsky District Education Department, a dual-purpose building with the protective properties of an anti-radiation shelter is being built next to school No. 183 on Yunosti Street. That is, it will be used during air raids and in the event of a radiation threat.

“The dual-purpose building is designed for 1190 students and 123 teaching staff and school service personnel. That is, for the entire number of students in the educational institution, including adults,” notes Ivan Bryzhko.

“This is not the construction of an underground school in the literal sense, but rather the construction of a dual-purpose structure. In wartime, they are built in Kyiv and work as a shelter where children can study during an alarm. These are dual-purpose structures. After the war, in peacetime, various clubs, sports sections, extracurricular education classes and even certain lessons can be placed there ...."

Two more such facilities are being built.

I think it's really sad that an underground school should have to be built anywhere.
I can sadly see the need for it though.

President Trump's message over he last few days .... European countries will need to provide peace keeping presence. During several media appearances with PM Emmanuel Macron, he made it clear.

Reading between the lines..... European countries will provide peacekeeping, any military action will be the responsibility of Ukraine. Moo

"Ukraine confirms.

There is a final version of the agreement with the US on minerals.

The United States and Ukraine have worked out the final version of the agreement on Ukrainian mineral deposits.

The government is to approve it on Wednesday,
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said."

Regarding "the pretending"... yes, the true colors will become stronger. I do not think there is American interest in peace and independence for Ukraine. Its all about the minerals, that's all.

As the article attached, states:
‘[The US] is pursuing the long-standing Russian policy objectives of being forgiven for aggression, atrocities, and war crimes.’
There have been 1000s or articles and opinions regarding Trump's pension for lying. Nothing new there.
Clearly, this has also been Putin's standard reputation for decades as well.

i think many Americans mistook "isolationalism" for "expansionism". Other countries understood this much better than Americans, before he was elected.
Expansionism = power. No better way to keep working on that "long standing Russian policy" than to throw the Domestic US into chaos to work the master International plan.
Moo
I am not hopeful for Ukraine. Screwups in protecting Ukraine happened on the watch of at least 4 former US Presidents. However, I DO feel there are more and more eyes and countries watching Ukraine NOW.
Moo.

"US-Ukraine Agreement.

The text of the document has been published.

1740579015207.jpeg

The text of the US-Ukraine bilateral agreement has been published online.

The Ukrainian prime minister announced on Wednesday
that the government in Kiev would accept its terms the same day.

Three key assumptions of the Reconstruction Fund agreement:

1. Financing the reconstruction of Ukraine
The Fund will be financed mainly from revenues from Ukrainian natural resources.
According to the agreement,
50 percent of revenues from the exploitation of oil, gas and minerals will go to the Fund's account,
and additional support will be provided by the American side.

2. Joint management and reinvestment of funds
The fund will be managed jointly by representatives of the governments of Ukraine and the United States.
The funds collected will be
reinvested at least once a year
in the reconstruction of infrastructure, improvement of security and development of the economy of Ukraine.

3. Control mechanisms and investment protection
The agreement provides for mechanisms to prevent abuse, corruption and evasion of sanctions.
The United States has committed to protect mutual investments and support Ukraine in obtaining international security guarantees."
